WILL YOU SEARCH THROUGH THE LOAMY EARTH FOR ME?
Hello lovely Deskers, hope you all had a nice Easter weekend - the weather was mostly good here and we got out for some nice local walks.
This was the desk yesterday, left after I'd been doing a bit of sewing and sorting on Easter Monday.
As well as being halfway through the bags, I ironed and trimmed all the quilt blocks that I've done so far. I think I'll have to put sashing between the blocks, it'll be too busy for the eyes otherwise.
I finished another baby blanket:
Lovely fresh colours! Now for sewing in the ends but there's not too many (yay!) I know I could weave the ends in whilst knitting but I never seem to get as good a finish as when they get sewn in. Hey ho, I did it while watching University Challenge and it was soon done.
The Glynn Vivian gallery in Swansea has had an exhibition running called Come As You Really Are - it's a feast of all things that are made by crafters from steampunk Nerf Guns to sewing to Warcraft. This sewn hanging was rather beautiful:
Created by Dian Smith, she's called 'Blodeuwedd' or The Lady of the Flowers. The detail was amazing, it must have taken hundreds of hours....
Stunning. And then you go to the other extreme and visit the Mini Detectorists layouts!
Every single detail of the BBC series is correct! G and I are massive fans and treat ourselves to a yearly rewatch, it's honestly one of our favourite programmes ever.
These were created by Duncan Willis and were titled 'Duncan's Mini Detectorists Club' (DMDC, it's an in-joke!)
They had Simon and Garfunkel too:
And the naughty Mayor and Russell:
Just brilliant. Sorry if all this is Double Dutch to you but even if you don't know the characters, the model making skills can still be appreciated!
Have a great week and may your crafting run smoothly!

We love the Detectorists too Jan. It is just so gently funny and brilliant. I love the music too . The models are so clever and that beautiful collage is just amazing. Thanks for sharing. Well done on finishing the baby blanket. The colours in your quilt are fab and we'll look forward to the finished piece.🌈🌈Jo
Well, I just typed a whole load of comment and it just suddenly disappeared never to be seen again.
I think I began with a WOW at the Lady of the Flowers. What a magnificent piece that is. Looks to be quite large too. I love the way Dian has used her skill to provide the forest light behind the Lady. Must be jaw dropping when you see it in real life.
Yes, I know the Detectorists as my dh is also addicted to the programme and I must make sure I show him this piece. It is wonderful and the two on the scooter just cracked me up, those helmets and goggles do it.
Two wonderful exhibits!
Great baby blanket and what a fab desk full of your lovely vibrant colours. You are so clever.
Hugs

I've not watched much of the Detectorists, but the figures are great! Love that giant floral piece from the exhibition too. Happy WOYWW Helen #4
Thanks Jan, the weather's been pretty good here too. That looks like a great day out you had, love the models and your own efforts look as brilliant as ever. Have a good woyww. Hugs Angela x8x
Aren’t those Detectorists models wonderful? We’ve just had a session of re-watching them. It’s such a fantastic series. Do you mind if I put the on their Facebook group?
Your baby blanket is wonderful and your quilt will look lovely. The Lady with the Flowers is stunning. Happy WOYWW! Hugs

I will have to search out the Detectorists Jan. Love the model and that stunning wall hanging. Your baby blanket is adorable. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah
Love your sewing projects, such beautiful fabrics. Great blanket as well. Have a great week. Anesha x
Third time lucky? Let's see if this posts. I adore the Detectorists and love the theme song. I have it saved in a playlist on YouTube and occasionally just need to listen to it. Did you see the movie as well? I thought is was ok, I think it was a paid-for offering, but I was so sad for it to end I just had to :D Love you squares, so colourful, and the blankie is sweet - I hate sewing in ends so def. knit over them - I do a "magic knot" then go over the old end moving forward, then the new end in the opposite direction on the next row. Generally that works well for me. If this fails to publish I am giving up!
Problems commenting this week but Happy WOYWW if you see this!

I see the Dectectorist is on You Tube! I'll have to watch it! Your quilt squares are absolutley yummy!❤️ And the blanket is lovely and summery. It's amazing what one can do while watching TV! Women are good at multi-tasking, apparently men - not so much😄 Have a wonderful week, Lindart #13☺️
Hello Jan, love what's on your desk today. The patchwork is fabulous, as ever. I took one look at the blanket and all I could think was about sewing in all those loose ends. One of my most dreaded jobs! The exhibits are fabulous. As you say, the amount of sewing that has gone into the hanging is amazing. I've not watched The Detectorists but now I've seen these brilliant figures, I think I must. Have a lovely week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #11
Hi Jan, the exhibition looks very interesting. Love the flower lady. I am not familiar with the TV series, but the models are great. You have such lovely, colourful strip panels on show and the baby blanket is gorgeous. Happy WOYWW. Angela #14
Dear Jan!
Easter is gone, hope, you did it well!
Thanks for sharing the wonderful sewn hanging.
Stunning! As you said....
I don't know the BBC series. But I love the characters.

We are great fans of the detectorists as well. It's gentle, funny and you can watch an episode any time. The models are great!! I also like the lady of the flowers - for some reason (and even before I noticed the little chap in the tree) I was reminded of 'The Owl Service'. (I chose that book at School when I was 11 as a prize I on in first form - caused a bit of a scandal, apparently I should have chosen a dictionary or something educational). I never did understand that book lol but I had to pretend I did.
As usual a beautiful burst of colour and pattern on your desk - just love to see it! DiL has got over her bug and determined to give the marathon a go, though I do worry!! She has already had replacement hips (before she was 30) but she is a v determined lady!! Lionel is photogenic isn't he? I know Chelsey would love to get him on a shoot. Meanwhile he's the best dressed toddler in Northolt!! Sorry I'm so late. Have a good week, love n hugs Cindyxx #10
Love all these models - and the stitched panel. Of course your turf is brilliant too.
Happy WOYWW! Susan #12
Wow Wow Wow your post is always a delight and certainly an explosion of colour. Adore the quilt blocks, we made paper color collage pages for the last entry on Faith Fest this week and I want to make more now... The exhibition is amazing too, how have I missed this show, must look it up. Hugs from an extremely late and exhausted BJ after Faith Fest this past week! #6
