GONNA USE IT UP...
Happy Wednesday everyone! I do like this mid week catch-up, it's the one day of the week that I actually know what date it is!
Goodness but this one has raced by, how can we be nearly at the end of January already? It has been a lovely sociable week when the weather has been kind and a crafting one when it's been grey and windy.
A long shot of the desk today! I was determined to really crack on with sorting out all those strips and scraps..
It was a long old job but here they are ready for making a scrappy quilt!
Chain piecing them through the machine, the whole process is so much quicker with the pivot function and auto thread cutting. It's also nice remembering all the fabrics I've worked with over the past year or so!
The moment of magic! I love trimming the blocks up, what looks messy immediately becomes neater. I do ten blocks at a time, just find it easier...
But I think I'm going to need a fair few more to make a cover for the bed in the JanCave!
I've also been using up some fabric that has been in the stash for a while, I really love it especially with the bright plastic snaps.
Last week I went for a reunion with some friends from grammar school days, we had loads of fun catching up:
There weren't many long awkward silences.....*grin* My friend had fantastic taste in art, right up my alley. I could have stolen this stained glass panel:
But my backpack wasn't quite big enough, lol! The maker does courses in Llandysul near Cardigan, I'm very tempted to do one,
Hope you have a marvellous week, may your crafting be happy and joyous xx

I can see why that stained glass was such a temptation Jan. Loving the start of the new quilt. At this rate you will soon have enough squares. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah
What a lovely quilt you will have Jan. The colours are fab and so cheery. It's good to see you and your school friends.- the years roll away don't they. I imagine lots of laughter and happy memories. How clever to be able to make that beautiful stained glass panel. There are some clever crafters out there. Enjoy your crafty fun.x x Jo 🌈
Grammar School?? I'd be hard pressed to know where more than one of my friends from HIGH SCHOOL might be. The consequences of moving countries before FB was a thing. Loving the scrappy quilt - I agree, the trimming is magical. Enjoy the process!
Dashing about, quick as I can for a Happy busy day WOYWW!

Think I have labelled everything that isn’t viewable! My one friend from school days died when I was nearly 17. I met my husband when I was 15 and his friends became my friends and we are still in touch with them. It’s lovely to meet up with them, though it’s not often as they are 4 hours away.
Your strip quilts are beautiful. Have you tried making bags out of the strips in the same way? More time consuming perhaps. Happy WOYWW. Angela #11
Go for it Jan, do the course. It's crazy to have regrets and I bet you would soon begin to regret not having done one of those beautiful panels - and a hare to boot! Go on, you know you want to.
I can see how trimming those squares gives a sense of satisfaction they look so lovely sat there but then as you put them together - it's WOW, they really do look good.
I have one friend from my grammar school days who is coming up to see me, or we are having lunch out soon. Not seen one another in ages and boy oh boy can Diane natter. There'll be no lulls in conversation when we two get together.
Have another great week
Hugs, Neet 1 xx
Hi Jan, love how you're using the fabric strips. Looks like you all had a great day meeting up with old friends, you are lucky to have kept in touch with them. Love the stained glass picture too, gorgeous. Wishing you a very happy woyww. Hugs Angela x10x
I really love the bright colours of your strip quilt and that stained glass is amazing…I love stained glass.

OOh I love stained glass! Unfortunately, like mosaic, I don't have the strength in my hands to cut anymore but do go for it I'm sure you will love it. You are lucky to have all those friends left from school!! I have no one nearby any more although one has been in touch recently and suggested we go on holiday for our 70ths in 2026. She is a real mischief maker and I have seen her since her 60th. Not sure I'd be able to keep up!!
I had to smile when you said about meeting random strangers - when I went to my first crop the kids were very concerned that I would never be seen again. They couldn't comprehend that a bunch of old(ish) gals could set that up.
I think everyone must be kind of trying to use up their stash. I've almost come to the opinion it can't be done so if things don't 'give me joy' they are on notice if not actually in the bin.
I don't think I am going to get to the crop as I don't have a travel partner but it sucks cos I really wanted to see you. Love n hugs Cindy xx
I love your squares, fantastic. Anesha x
Oh my life you have lost me with the chain piecing, let alone the pivot function and auto thread cutting! Think I am from the dark ages, even my car is 17yrs old, no beeps or help parking for me!
Anyway the strip squares look lovely, so bright and yes the memories too. They look even more amazing together and the box of snaps, love your posts, so happy. Oh the stained glass panel is gorgeous, know what you mean there....Bought hubby the stuff to do it years ago but he only did a couple and stopped. Now just talks about doing it....PS loved the 2D workshop in needle felting, hubby wasn't at all enthused by my attempt at that, oh well. Hugs BJ#3
I love the squares for the new quilt! And that each piece carries a memory! How fun to meet up with grammar school friends! I only have one, and she lives across the country in California! It's always nice to meet up with someone who has your taste in art - I would be tempted to steal that stained glass piece as well! Have a lovely week, Lindart #14
