REMEMBER THE DAYS OF THE OLD SCHOOLYARD..

It's hard to believe that Christmas was virtually a month ago! It has been cold and grey and so lots of sewing has been done in the JanCave, I'm building up my stock ready for the year.

Penguins, cats and moons, hoping there's something for everybody!

I love this fabric, might find it hard to let it go..... but there's only so many bags I can use at any one time, lol!

As well as stuff for my stall, I've also been using up stash fabric to make syringe driver bags for the oncology unit at a local hospital after seeing a plea on a FB group. I think it took longer to cut out and iron than it did to sew:

Hope they'll be useful.

Pretty fabric that was gifted to me by G's sister who got it from a charity shop, lovely quality too.

And talking of G:

He has made the momentous decision to get rid of all his vinyl, completely his idea (truly!)  He went through cherry picking what might be valuable, eg original pressings of David Bowie and the Sex Pistols and will set about getting them on eBay. There's some old memories there and we've dragged them around 5 house moves but it's a good thing to do!

Short and sweet today, I may be late commenting as I'm off out to lunch with five school friends in Carmarthen, it's a bit sobering that we've known each other for 53 years...... blimey.....

Have a good week!! xxxxx

Looks like you have been very productive with your fabric and machine.... you'll be having to restock soon! That's a lot of vinyl that G has... I've still got some although (you won't be surprised to hear) I can't get to them or the record player to listen to them... I fear I really am a hoarder.. blame my Dad! have a great lunch. Gorgeous items, lovely fabrics - the perfect activity for cold winter days. Well done on clearing out that vinyl G. Apparently there is a huge demand for it so hope you do well with selling.x x Jo 🌈

Well done to you for jumping on a charity appeal and to G for his decluttering. I have to admit I am feeling the urge to sort my sewing room, as I have a bunch of yarn organizing hanger things that will free up SO MUCH space, it would be a shame not to. We have a bunch of old vinyl too, but I bet it isn't in great shape - it all got played a LOT, and often on not great equipment. But I think I do have a bootleg copy of The Wall someplace and a nice boxed set of Nick Drake. Uncle-in-law had a rare Bob Dylan album (like really rare) he sold for a ton but I (or G) should be so lucky...

Wow, such a surprise G’s getting rid of his records! B’s are all in the loft, from when he was a DJ. I doubt he would part with them.
I absolutely adore your astral fabric. Can I buy one please? Let me know how much with postage and I’ll send it to you.
Happy WOYWW

Dear Jan!
Good morning my dear and busy far away friend! You've done such wonderful sewing in the JanCave! I love the cat fabric.
It's grey and foggy today in Austria too.
"G" is very motivated. Congrats!
Wish both a wonderful week.
Eva from Austria.

Pleased to see you've been busy and I can relate to not letting something special go just in case you can't get it again which is why I have so much unused stuff but this year it has to change to "Use it or Lose it" . Well done G. My hubby sold loads on Ebay and it was amazing how much he got for them. We had a lot of Northern soul records which are still well sort after. Wishing you a happy woyww, Angela x8x

First of all I hope you have a brill time at your lunch. Those really are old friends - the best!
Cor Blimey! Are all those boxes full of vinyl? What a great decision to make. Hope you find some real treasures. (Long story but we once sold a very valuable record for £1 and the bil went mad - it was his)
love your sewing but that celestial fabric - oh I'd have to keep something, it's kewl.

Love that celestial fabric ( I was going put “sun and moon”, but saw Neet has put celestial -🤣). That’s a momentous decision by your husband! I am thinking of doing something similar with my die collection 🙈, so much work to photograph them all! Happy WOYWW. Angela #10

Oh those little tied parcels of items are so inviting, totally know what you mean about the moon fabric, has to be one of my favourites. The little bags for the oncology unit are super too, how delightful.
Oh my with the vinyl! I only have a few singles left from my DJ days (late 70's early 80's), not sure I could part with any now though. I did sell one at the time "Jilted John by Jilted John" for a favourable sum and maybe it would have been worth a lot now who knows. I have a pink and a blue one in my collection too, love those Cool for Cats and Roxanne which really ought to have been red. I always loved looking for the special scratched marks on the inner band. Oh gosh you have me on a roll... Glad you liked my fabric book and my sewing adventure, I love is too. Hugs BJ#1

Wow G is being brave. I am not sure I could get rid of my vinyl Jan. I was once told that anyone who has a collection of more than 100 albums will include either Bat Out of Hell, War of the Worlds or both (like mine) - does his? Loving those bags for the oncology unit and can see why that clock fabric might be hard to part with. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah

Lovely fabrics in your makes this week. I am sure they will not last long on the stall and the hospital will be grateful for the bags.
