 FEELING HOT HOT HOT....

It's been Scorchio here in Wales with lots going on at LLJ Towers so not that much crafting has been going on tbh! I had the opportunity to check out some fabric items in the RNLI fundraising cupboard at the boathouse and rediscovered a couple of things I'd donated plus a few others.

I deconstructed them to rescue what fabric/cords were usable - I had a good time doing this!

Some I can reuse for cases/purses and some I cut up into 2.5" strips for string quilts in the future.

And that's it! My bro and SiL were down staying for a couple of days and we went to Aberglasney, the gardens I shared with you a few weeks back. The change was amazing, it was a riot of purple - alliums, foxgloves, primulas, rhododendrons.

And the longest wisteria I've ever seen!

You can't tell the scale in this pic but they were nearly 2 feet long and covered with bees, if this blog had audio, there'd be a lot of buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing.

It was too hot for me in the sun but I enjoyed the woodland glades...

I needed a sunhat like the pair sitting on that bench!

My favourite bit was the sunken courtyard garden with a reflecting pool and water sculpture by William Pye (his most famous one is the amazing font in Salisbury Cathedral. he's a clever chap, if I won the lottery, I'd have one of his creations!)

It was very pleasing!

My sewing machine is going on his holidays next week, hopefully he'll come back rested and raring to go again after I get back from mine!

Have a great week and enjoy your crafting xxxxxxxxxxx

Stunning scenery there. I put that Garden on our list of places, as we are now back to enjoying the odd day out in crowds. Still feels odd but being outside makes it better. Curious about the lens used on the sunhat photo - fish eye? I love the look of it and it captures it all. And clever you, deconstructing unsold pieces to make new! Very much a make do and mend attitude. Off for a woolly knitting day myself so dashing around quickly! Still, hard to drag myself away :D
Happy WOYWW!

Cool how you are using fabric from other things to make new things, excellent upcycling. I had my sewing machine out earlier this week, needed a little pouch for my cream applicator and then made a new inner for a hot bean thingy plus a new cover. Had to pick out all the burnt grains with tweezers, interesting until I dropped a load on the carpet! I also made a new powder puff out of fur fabric. Really need to go to a fabric website and get some new prints and some more fur. Always love seeing all yours and told hubby all about your wonderful fabric desk each week. Hugs BJ#7

Oh that that garden looks beautiful. I specially like the woodland glades although the wisteria is very impressive. I imagine the woodland glades would be cool if you are allowed to walk in it. I hope you and your machine come back from your holidays refreshed and raring to go xx Angela #11

Hi Jan, I’ll swap you your weather for ours, Jan. It’s been dry here but cold with a North wind off the sea. That looks to have been a lovely day out and yes, I’d give space for the water sculpture too!
I do like the idea of your sewing machine going off on his hols with a bucket and spade šŸ¤£
Take care and happy WOYWW

Another mesmerising William Pye, isn’t that fabulous. I think I’m with you on what to do when my lottery numbers strike lucky. Golly that wisteria is amazing isn’t it, I can imagine the buzzzzzzing! There’s a lovely one at Heale near Amesbury but I don’t think it makes as long a tunnel. Aberglasny is really stunning isn’t it. We’ve woken up to a dull and overnight wet day, first for over a week and it’s been a bit of a shock, I was just getting used to living with all the doors and windows flung open! Got Shingles again, that Constant sub-par feeling is incredibly boring now. I wonder if the machine servicing person would be able to tell how many miles you’ve stitched since the last service…I’d bet it’s waaaay more than you think!

Happy WOYWW. We love Aberglasney. Should go more often, as it is wonderful at any time of year. The food/drink/shop is fabulous too - we usually try to be there at lunchtime. Not been too hot here in the far west. Often a chilly wind. Ali x #17

I love wisteria and it's amazing once they get going they spread like mad. We are for ever having to trim our one. It weas very warm here until last night and now it's dull and rained all night but we needed the water as the butts are very low. Good to see you reusing the fabric. Wishing you a very happy woyww, Angela x8x

Well it,s a bit depressing reading all these comments about sunshine when I’m sitting here with 2 jumpers and my woolly socks on! It is lovely here though and we have seen some great laburnum and wisteria - stunning! Best thing about this break is I don’t have to do any cooking! Didn’t get up to much today in the end but got some crafting done. Have a good week, love n hugs Cindyxx #13

This is for all deskers regarding the Refrigerator/Freezer (R/F) debacle so I don't have to answer questions about it. Friend Sally is a member of our neighborhood (NH) online group and checked to see what available in our NH. She found a guy selling a R/F who lived about five blocks from me. I walked over and, even though I wanted a French Door R/F with a bottom freezer, I decided to buy this used R/F the NH man promised to deliver to my home right away. I spent all of Wednesday evening and Thursday getting the food out of the old R/F and into the new one. The used fridge looks very much like my old one. In fact, they are the same size and design. The man guaranteed the R/F for 90 days, so I couldn't beat that. Now I can take my time and buy the R/F I want and get it delivered in the time I want and not feel pressured or experience any lost food.

The gardens are truly stunning. Just beautiful and the designs are so well thought out and lush.
I've never seen wisteria except in photos, but that is truly amazing. I am sure your family enjoyed the gardens too. Happy WOYWW from # 3.
