 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

Many happy returns to Julia today, hope you have a good one.

It's been a week of stops and starts, crafting wise:

I've continued to cut into the fabric that was gifted to me:

Got to get the popper colour right, lol!

So many lovely colours to choose from......

Then a call from the cafe owner saying that sales had been good meant that I had to quickly do some more sewing to restock - and funnily enough more masks were needed!

So that's what I did on a wet Tuesday afternoon.

Lynne (Lynnecrafts) had made me some flowers to add to the pile for the local event:

Aren't they fab? It pleased me to lay them out in a pattern for taking the photo. Thanks so much Lynne, I know they'll be appreciated.

Lynne also sent me some of her watercolour brushes to try out before choosing which ones to buy so that's what I did a couple of days ago:

Just trying out leaf shapes and thin lines - I fell in love with the Rosemary and Co brushes, lovely to use and comfy too as they have a wider grip. I hadn't heard of them before but it's a company that have been going for thirty years and are British. I know that three have been ordered (again for an advance prezzy for me!) so I shall look forward to doing some more watercolours in August.

Short and sweet from me today - have a great week whatever you end up doing! xxx

You and I have a "thing" for color. I'm always amazed when people don't pay attention to color. It's what makes or breaks a project, in my estimation. All those buttons are like little candy pieces for fabric.

I am impressed that you like watercoloring. From what I can see, you are quite good at it, too. Happy WOYWW from #2.

Good Morning...such lovely colorful photos again today. The time flies by, we had a holiday here so 4 days of everyone traveling/shopping/dining/dancing !!
We stayed home, and I accomplished nothing meaningful. Your sailboat fabric makes me want to rent a cottage by the lake. Enjoy a good week.

They are indeed lovely flowers from Lynne Jan. Glad you've found some brushes that suit. You are always busy - glad to hear people still want masks too - I shall continue wearing them in shops and on public transport for one. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #6

I hope you have a creative week and get your new brushes soon unless you have to wait for the big day! you are certainly loving the water colouring! I don't think I'll be abandoning my mask on buses certainly, any time soon regardless of "rules". Take care and happy WOYWW Helen #8

What a lovely desk - full of colour to delight us all. I love the yacht fabric so appropriate for a coastal town - bet those sell really well.
Lynne's flowers look great and such a riot of colour there on your desk. But it's the watercolour that caught my eye - you are becoming a real artist, buying brushes and, from what I can see, doing some lovely work in your sketch pad. So much talent on the desk, it's wonderful to visit.
Hugs, Neet 11 xx

Love how you picked out the red from the sail and coordinated the lining with the polka dot fabric, now that a true eye for design and detail with the poppers too. I have those poppers somewhere, must find them out and make them more accessible. I agree it's so important to find the right watercolour brush for you, I have a couple I use that I would not be without, perfect for holding large amounts of water. Look forward to seeing more of your lovely work Jan.

Hi Jan, Those fabrics are so suitable.

Love the poppers, but the OCD in me would want to have the same colour shades near each other:) LOL

I think a lot of people will carry on wearing masks, I certainly will. I've had both jkabs and will be eligible for the booster, but I am a shielder, so have to be even more cautious.

The flowers are lovely.

Glad you have found brushes that you like. Handy to know you are getting some for a birthday.

Happy WOYWW

Hi Jan, glad the brushes suited, and thanks for your kind words on my flowers. Your masks, purses etc are beautifully made so I’m not surprised they sell well. That fabric is so appropriate for the RNLI.

Take care and happy WOYWW

Those buttons are real eye candy the only problem would be encouraging myself to use them they might be another one of those things where I have to have two sets...yes I know it's stupid so perhaps I would just keep one of each Lol! Have a lovely Productive woyww, Angela x18x

Those little yacht purses and cases are just gorgeous Jan and I am sure they will catch the eye of the shop customers too - you are so good at mixing and matching. You will enjoy using your new brushes and I agree the wider grip looks very user friendly. Look out for Mr Postie. xx Jo

I'm not surprised your little cases flew out of the shop - they are so stylish and beautifully made - I love the red polka dot lining to contrast with the splash of red on the sails, you have a great eye for putting pattern and colour together. The flowers from Lynne are gorgeous, and thank you so much for the link to Rosemary and Co - I need a new art supplies shop in my life!!
Have a lovely week,

A feast of colour this week, Jan. What a glorious collection of poppers! The sailing boat fabric is delightful, and how kind of Lynne to make you all those gorgeous crochet flowers and send you waterolour brushes, too. Lots of fun in store for you in the coming months, I can see.

Thanks for the heads up about Julia's birthday, Jan! Those cases will be perfect for sunglasses on the seaside! The poppers look lovely laid out like that. I think we underestimate the importance of having good brushes, especially for watercolours. They would be wasted on me though the way I treat them - leaving them sitting in water for weeks on end! They deserve someone like you who treats them with respect! Hope you find the perfect one to take your art to the next level! Happy WOYWW! xx zsuzsa #22

How wonderful to be able to try out a few brushes before you buy. I don’t think I have heard of that company, although I did buy some brushes a few years ago at a craft show. They demonstrated leaves and flowers with them. Still haven’t used them - how bad is that!
Your flowers are beautiful. By the way if you do two trebles in the same stitch are you adding a stitch each time?. Happy WOYWW Angela #3

Thank you for your return visit, Jan, and for all your good wishes for my operation on Friday. I agree with you that modern surgery is amazing - when I had my bowel cancer operation I couldn't believe how much improved everything was from my hysterectomy 20 years before. I am sure I shall be OK. I'm glad you like my room! It is pretty stunning. I'm afraid I haven't used it much at all lately and it's long overdue for me to get back in there and start creating again! Now it's tidy it is far more inviting. There's still quite a bit of reorganising to do but at least it's workable now. Cindy's machine looks amazing, doesn't it! Something great to look forward to in a few weeks' time. I am determined to improve my stamping skills. There can't be many people who mess up when using a stamp positioning tool lol!

I might have commented on the wrong post oops, never mind. I love your box of kam snaps, so colourful! And those brushes, I also have never heard of them, so I will need to check them out. I actually bought some new brushes at the weekend and hopefully they will be here this week. Can't wait! Happy WOYWW! Elle #24, EOTC

I had a busy morning shortening 3 hems on a bridesmaid’s dress and then steaming it And since lunch I’ve been for my annual diabetic eye test (although it’s 18 months since my last thanks to Covid!) so I’m just catching up with a few blogs before the football starts.
I love the flowers Lynne made for you to use....so kind of her. I love my poppers but have a feeling you have twice as many as me....I’ve used lots of mine lately on the Memory cushion covers and having the right colour is so important.

Tidied colour sums up your photos! I’ve never heard of those brushes either, fab to find a British company to buy from. You’re seriously good at this watercolour lark, I reckon Sandra De is influencing you! Interesting and reassuring that masks are still in demand, I think I’m probably going to be wearing one for years to come!

Great tip on brushes! I've never heard of them either. A wider grip sounds helpful. Love all the fabric projects and I really MUST use those poppers and not let them languish in the box...

So very late this week!

Thanks for your visit to me - and no, only the spinner gets a bit inky as I have been using alcohol inks! So not messy at all...
