WOYWW 623

MIX IT UP AND START AGAIN....

It's been a busy week, that's for sure! Having Owen home meant that I wasn't spending much time crafting but I was looking forward to doing some more sewing and returning to band at the weekend and seeing Lisa-Jane. Thanks to the appalling rain, the meet up with LJ was postponed and due to the problems with all the safety checks on the trains, it meant a sudden journey to take Owen back to Reading....cue lots of motorway driving but with a happy twist, which I'll reveal later!

I found out that the yarnbombing group were happy for me to sew some items so I'm going to use up scraps and make fish, starfish etc etc. I've just cut out a rough template and will add some felt fins from the heap of scraps that live in the cupboard!

The first length of 7" wide crochet has been done and rolled up into a Swiss Roll, now I'm using a ball of the yarn Debbie Rock sent and it's proving very seasidey, perfect!

The other thing that arrived this week were the postcards I'd had printed to accompany the ATCs:

Nicely printed with envelopes, I couldn't have printed them at home for much less...you'll have to wait until next week to see them though!

Proof that life is slowly getting back to normal is this:

G and I attended the first group litter pick of the year, a beautiful morning meant there was a good turn out and we picked 31 bags from a wide area.

And the surprise?  We broke our return journey from taking O back to have a socially distanced meet up with.....

Julia!!!! Me and my bezzy!!!  It was the first time we'd seen each other for 16 months and it was wonderful to meet up. I don't think we drew breath, lol! It was a proper spur of the moment thing and made my day.

I'm looking forward to the Anniversary next week and have made a few ATCs to swap, you have been warned *grin*

Have a fab week, see you for WOYWW 624 XXXXX

Oh I am so glad there is a photo! Julia has already spilled the beans - how wonderful you got to meet - unexpectedly makes it so much better I think! the yarnbombing will be great fun! well done on the litter picking (but sad it has to be done!) Hi Jan, When I read “safety checks on trains” I at first worried you meant O wouldn’t have passed them 🤣 I forgot the rolling stock issues. I am so definitely retired!
Sorry your catch up with L-J was postponed, but glad your driving Owen back meant you could pop in on Julia.
I’m sure having sewn starfish etc will really add to the scene. We’re having an Anglo- Saxon festival at the end of June. I wonder if I could think of ways to do that theme to yarnbomb here? There’s a thought’
Did your band practice fall foul of the weather, too? I hope from next week you’ll be able to play together inside.
Have a great week
Stay safe and happy WOYWW

Hi Jan, The fish, starfish, etc will look fab. The colours on the strips are great.

Your postcards look interesting.

What a shame people are still leaving litter on the beach.

Glad you were able to swing by Julias after dropping your son off.

Hope you can soon meet up with your friend.

Happy WOYWW

Hi Jan, how wonderful you could meet up with Julia! Love the photo! Cant wait to see those postcards and ATC's. So sad re all the litter. My D.I.L.son and family are in a scheme here and do the same. I can't believe the amount of litter everywhere. Take care. Anne x 18

How wonderful to have a visit with Julia. Great idea to have the postcards printed, wish I had thought of that before we left home. It is dreadful that people are leaving litter everywhere. Happy WOYWW Angela #10

Yay! So glad you got a full face chat with a friend in the end, even if it wasn't me! Next time compadre, next time. Great idea for the post cards - I'm not sure how far out to go with the local area as there's not a lot of beauty in the 'burbs! Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #4

Hi Jan!
This post "speaks to me"!
Cool idea, to prettify the yarnbombing with fishes and so on!
You are a woman for any eventuality! Not only on your sewing machine.
Well, I'm waiting for the nicely printed cards to see them.
You and your G are the heroes of the beach. Picking up litter.
I applaud!!♥
Happy, to see your friend Julia again.
Best wishes, hugs and take care!

You've definitely found the silver lining in that unscheduled trip! It was worth just to see Julia with long hair! Lovely little projects there in the making! Where did you get your postcards printed in the end? I've got mine printed as well and they look great - I was a bit nervous as I used a photo off my blog with web-sized resolution but it printed just fine. I'm up for a swap - still got your address, so I'll put you on my list! Happy #623! xx zsuzsa #22

What a fab photo of you and Julia - I can just imagine the amount of talking that went on! Did you get your postcards printed locally or on-line - it's a good idea and would be a better way of printing out images for some of my Christmas cards - less hassle than buying photo paper and ink cartridges!
Hope you have a great week,

I love that photo of you. I didn't think about getting postcards printed - a very good idea I shall have to remember for the future. I would love to swap an ATC with you if you have any available. I have lost various addresses with computer crashes recently so if you could send it to me I would be grateful. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#19)

Jan!! I am glad that I got a laugh out of you today!!! LOL I only wish I could have laughed along with you! LOL I WILL DEFINITELY heed to your advice!! I pretty much will try anything once, but I do know how to be cautious at the same time! LOLOL Thanks for the love on my wedding project and yes VERY brave of me!! LOLOl Do you ever feel like you work better under pressure? LOLOL Hope the jab goes well for hubby, I was glad to get it over with! It's so wonderful that you can make your crafting go on and on with those glorious scraps. I know folks think we are hoarders with our scrap bins, but you never know when they will come in handy for another project! They will love the little fishies and starfish!! I love that yarn that Debbie Rock sent you it IS very seasidey! I need to hit Julia up for more info on the ATC Swap. Obviously, I will never be able to get anything to anyone in time but maybe swaps after the fact won't be too bad??? I must have missed the post with the instructions or theme or both? LOL I'd love to swap with you, just let me know! Great pic of you guys and sooooo glad you got to spend some lovely time together! I got to spend some time with my bestie last week for a dinner out! It was glorious! Blessings to you and for the rest of your week my friend! :) Felicia #25

Love the fish and the yarnbombing, 31 bags of rubbish collected from that beach, that's a job well done but shocking that it has to be done. Must be nice meeting up with friends again Elle #27

How absolutely blooming wonderful that the train chaos led to an impromptu meeting with Julia! There is something different isn't there about being together in real life rather than through a screen. I did think about getting my postcards printed but opted to do it myself in the end - mainly to see if my printer could handle it! Not 100% but good enough I feel and I taught myself where to put the photo paper!! Love your 'swiss roll' and the seaside yarn. If you fancy a swap let me know. Have a good week, stay well stay safe, love n hugs Cindy xx

How fab that you managed to get to see Julia Jan. Shame the storm meant that the get together with LJ was off though. Look forward to seeing the results of yarn bombing locally. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #1

I’m rather late in the day joining in the fun this week. I’ve been head down all day making two very special little bears full of emotions but am thrilled with the results so it’s been very rewarding ( I may share next week).
So thrilled to see you’ve managed to catch up with the boss....it’s been far too long I’m sure.

It sounds as if you've been really busy, Jan - glad you and Julia managed to meet up. Love the yarn bombing project too. Thank you for your visit, and yes, great progress on both projects. I managed to do quite a bit of border on the kitty throw in my hubby's absence today and I'm really enjoying it. The border pattern calls for crocheting into the back loops because the front loops need to be free for crocheting into with subsequent rounds. You should see more progress by next week! The Purple Circles jumper is now being blocked prior to making up.

Hi Jan, I haven't a clue what the yarnbombing is, I'll catch up on some older posts soon! Ah, what a great pic of you and Julia - unexpected visits are sometimes the best. The smiles say it all. Thanks for stopping by - I am having great fun challenging myself with the crochet. Maybe if I'd found that before card making, I wouldn't need a craft room, as I crochet in the lounge while Mr M watches TV or plays XBox games. Ah well, now I can do multicrafts. The crystal art was fun, but fiddly. I don't think I will be buying any more - but that notebook called to me lol. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #23

How fun visiting Julia (wish I could have joined in!) We have not ventured out much, other than doctors appointments and groceries. But we have a tentative one day road trip on Saturday. We'll see.

Lovely weather too. I used to live closer to the ocean, on the west cost. Spring brakes and summer certainly enjoyed it. The ocean is so calming to me. We live fairly near a large reservoir and it was fun while we had boats and family was near. Family has now moved away and no boats. We are fairly close to two rivers so the views are nice next to the highway. Love seeing your water pictures.

A bit tardy again! Happy Thursday!

Stay safe and well.

I usually spend a week with her in August and we do all sorts of fun things together! Your yarn bombing looks very interesting, looking forward to seeing it all finished and up!
