WOYWW 624

THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIEND...

Another week has shot by - I can't believe it's Wednesday again! Thank goodness for WOYWW because it's the one thing that keeps me on track when working out what day it is *grin*

I've been quite busy again dibbling and dabbling with various projects. My desk is a heap....

Bag bits, fabric (the stripey at the front was passed on by my mate Helen), a staple gun which I was using for something that is quite possibly treasonous...my next post may well come from a dungeon in the Tower of London....lol!

Silver card, spray paint and jewels are my next project.....

And this too:
I do get involved in the weirdest things, cutting slots in ping pong balls is one of them :-D

I am crocheting long strips for a village yarnbombing project, they will be sewn around railings around the harbour. There's been a call out for 3D yarny seaside models as well which I haven't done before. Has anyone got any patterns/tips you could point me in the direction of?
Just using up odds and sods of yarn!

I've got in contact with some friends from the old Grammar school I attended back in the 70s via a group on Facebook - it's been great fun. I 'met' Carol, who always stood in front of me in a queue for exams/jabs/assembly etc as we were in alphabetical order, we had a good old reminisce and she posted a photo that I'd not seen before:
Can you spot me? So many faces that remind me of laughs, nights out at the disco and a few of whom I'm still friends with now. That uniform however, groan, at least the Sixth Form skirts were better than the gymslips we had to wear for the previous 5 years!!

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Sorry Jan but I am terrible at spotting people in old photos - even myself. The yarn bombing sounds like a fun project but I have no patterns or ideas. Hope you don't end up in the Tower lol. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

SOOOO curious about the ping pong balls! I love those kinds or weird projects and expect to see the big reveal some time soon. Humm. Can't be sure cause the photo is a little blurry - or it's my bad old eyes, but are you dead centre? Also, be sure to share the tarn-bombing project - our local crochet group does them a few times a year and is always looking for new ideas!
ATC backs for the 12th to download on my blog :)

I can see you (well, Rhys’ early incarnation), but I won’t say where just yet! I don’t think the uniform was too bad, although yeah, the damn skirts and lengths were always a bit weird. There’s some big jewels on your desk Missus, i think I can guess where you’re at.. if it ends up with you in the Tower, don’t worry, I’ll write to you. I might even write to ‘them’ to help out! The last week has been ridiculous and I had to do actual work. Which showed up my lack of stamina and my constant need for sleep! That lavender colour floral fabric is pretty.

I’ve had a right chuckle at your post this week. It’s full of fun stuff but I’ve no idea which is you on the school photo. I can’t even spot myself on mine haha

I wondered why Rhys was in the photo in a pink shirt! Intrigued by your make this week but looking forward to the ta-da moment. 💕

It was soooo lovely catching up with your this week. You're such a tease with all your projects Jan. As for your school photo....if it's not you then it should be :-) My school photo is one of those whole school really long ones where if you were clever you could get on it twice if you ran quick :-) [not something I did of course]. I spent 7 years in fleecy green knickers hence green is not my fav colour :-)
Hugs,
Annie x

I'm sure your finished project will wow everyone Jan!! Not sure which you are on the photo - maybe the mysterious young lady on the left? Will see what I can "trawl" up for 3D crochet although maybe free form is the way to go - you could make starfish , coral, anemones just by twiddling with your crochet hook and yarn. I just go round in circles a lot - nothing new there then!! xxx Jo

the old school photo!! I often look at mine and wonder where are they now? I so agree with you about those awful gymslips and don't start me on the length! We always understood that the Headmistress was in charge so if she wanted us to look smart, then we looked smart . . .her way!
Interested to see what becomes of the pingpong ball.
have a good week

HI Jan, loving the school photo, but can't decide which is you - I have three candidates. I'm intrigued by your project, dying to know what it is! Have a great week. Annie C #21

Hi Jan, if you end up in the Tower I’ll send you oranges (French saying). I’ll have to give my romantic hero a muscled arm for you.
I am so looking forward to the big reveal. You’ll end up with a gong, I’m sure!
Ooh, yarnbombing, what fun! How about an octopus or two? Basically a big bag with legs, no tentacles . There are loads on Pinterest. I’ll see if I can find a pattern. Starfish would be easy too.
Now I’m torn between two for the photo. There is one who looks very much like Rhys but there is another redhead, more central...
Take care and happy WOYWW

The yarn bombing sounds fantastic and I look forward to the photos. Please put me out of my misery and let me know what/why you are slicing ping pong balls. Another question why do some of the students have red sash hanging from their skirts. In OZ we let the kids play a footy game with a sash velcroed on to their shorts so they can rip the sash without causing huge injuries to each other. We are a weird mob down under and I can't imagine your young ladies would do such a thing. Wondering if you are the young lass in back row middle? Do let us know?

I love those chunky jewels, certainly eye catching, which is just what you want! I've had a good look at the photo and seen someone that has the look of your son Rhys so using my Miss Marple skills I would guess you are fourth from right, back row?
Happy treasoning!

HI Jan, hmmm nope, its way early here and I can't sleep so, the photo staring will have to be given a try again after the sun comes up. some of those jewels look huge ( as a card making perspective) so, that has my curious what you are going to do with them. Sorry no help with the fiber patterns either. :) ~Stacy #24

Jan, I LOVE all of your sneaks of projects! We are ALL eat up with curiosity as to the outcomes!! I'm excited to see the finished projects!! By the way, I'm come break you out of the dungeons if it comes to that! LOLOL The photo is hilarious!!! I must have dozens of those lying around where we sadly look the same!! LOLOL I won't even attempt to say which is you!! Thankfully, I grew out of my "early stages of life" look, so finding me would be a bit dastardly as well!! Thank goodness! LOLOL Have a fantastic rest of your week! Blessings my friend! Felicia #27

I must be the strangest person on this planet - I preferred the gym slip to the pinafore dress that replaced it at our grammar school. But no-one on earth could have liked the horrible dresses we had to wear in summer. UGH!
Now what on earth are you up to? It must be big if you could face treason - does it involve Harry or William? Oh dear, my mind is wandering.
That takes me back months ago you were dressing Betty and I cannot remember what for - and what was that arm for that we saw a while back? Gosh Jan, you are a woman of mystery.

I'm thinking that this has something to do with the 'model' from the previous few weeks? I 'think' I can see you top/ back at the end of the row? Looking forward to next week :-) Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #5

What a fun post, Jan! You certainly do make some weird things at times - can't wait to see a) what the pingpong ball is going to be part of and b) he treasonous stapled project!! Love the school photo. I've got at least one from my school days, too, stashed away somewhere... I have kept up with two special friends from those days, and one of them, who is an excellent corrspondent, keeps me up to date with some of the others' news too. I look forward to seeing some photos of the yarnbombing project when the time comes. Great fun.

Thank you for your visit - so glad you approve of the blanket progress! It's such a fun project to do and I'm enjoying every moment of it. The crochet hooks are a dream to use, and as you say, a lovely parcel to get.

Happy WOYWW,

And so does that class photo No I don't know where you are. Dead center 3rd riw short...? 8 of our uniform class still get together in summer 4 of the distant ones come home to see family, and we gather and we laugh and we cry and we talk and talk and talk. only 2 of us have husbands left. Have a great week

Lots of interesting things on your desk!
Years ago I did some crocheted/knitted things for a yarnscape at the Maritime Museum in Plymouth. Seahorses , whales etc. Is that the sort of thing you are after? Seaweed?

Oh no - I'm the last one to comment! Coudn't find you on the picture. The solution to the riddle comes next?? A little bit of yarnbombing startet years ago in our City. But now the yarn is hanging grey and tattered on fence and street lighting.
But keep on crocheting!
The jewels make me curious.
