WOYWW 500 - The Quincentenary

CONGRATULATIONS AND CELEBRATIONS...

What an achievement...500 posts! Congrats Julia on what must be one of the longest running blog-hops on the Interwebs. It's no mean feat keeping something going week after week for all this time and you have done it with humour, wit and the odd bit of procrastination ;-)  We've all said how wonderful it has been, this mad meeting of crafty minds - but my life has been enriched hugely by knowing these deskers, whose paths I otherwise wouldn't have crossed.

Thank you and here's to the next 500!!

The only crafty things on my desk this week, lol!  But i had fun doing it and that's the important thing!

It was a proper challenge but the Terry Pratchett jigsaw is completed (it took me six days). The poster of the picture was blutacked to a recent purchase, an artists' slope or easel as I intend to get back to some more art this year - I love drawing and painting and haven't done enough recently.

It's an important wish of mine for 2019 that I don't waste time on screen stuff (apart from the blog obvs!) there's a big long list (hah, Julia!!) in my mind of things I want to do.

Enjoying real life stuff - it's important. The stand and stare moments. And making the most of family and friends.

Wishing you all a Happy, healthy and fun filled 2019! xxxxxxxxxx

Good morning Jan and a Happy and Creative New Year. No resolutions here I am afraid apart from trying to lead a more healthy life. Love the jigsaw and the 500 WOYWW display. Ani

Happy New Year to you and G and the family. I haven't made any lists of things i want to do, but more crafting is (again) one thing I do want to do. We'll see how long I manage this time round! your WOYWW 500 is fabulous and I love the finished jigsaw - it is quite mono-toned isn't it. Good luck with the painting! Helen #?

Happy new year Jan and an awesome 500th link up. It’s so nice to meet up each week even if we’ve nothing to show on our desks. As happens a lot in my case. It all comes in mad spurts.
Look forward to seeing your painting

Morning Jan. I wish you both a very happy and healthy new year - one in which you are indeed able to stand, stare, paint, draw, enjoying the life God has given you. What a lovely idea to send those flowers to Julia - well thought! Congrats on the jigsaw - it certainly doesn't look an easy one - all of a colour really!
I'm hoping this will be a year when I use the caravan a lot more, travelling round to all the places I long to see - so beware... I may well be down your way!
Take care, girl. God bless.

Hiya Jan, jigsaw looks fab, not surprised it took 6 days! Lovely flowers for Julia, by the way. My only real plan is to do more stamping, seemed to have done very little last year. Love & hugs and Happy New Year to you all, Shaz #5 XxXxXx

It's good to be back...if but still feeling rather fragile...amongst my friends. Thanks for being there for me Jan.

What a great post Jan - you said everything I should have said but couldn't find the words! Your little tribute arrangement is genius and I can't believe you completed that puzzle in just 6 days! Wise words about less screen time as well. May your 2019 be full of joy and happiness! zsuzsa #19

Hi Jan, I can't believe you've finished the puzzle, I always used to get fed up half way through, my Mum was the jigsaw fanatic.
I've enjoyed the photos over the year of where you live, it's great to see different places where other deskers live so I hope to see more this year.

Happy 500th WOYWW

Happy 500th WOYWW. I love jigsaws, but haven't done any for years. We have a new library in Haverfordwest, which I haven't visited yet due to Spain/Christmas/being ill. When I get there I will borrow a jigsaw, as I used to do - and treat myself to one of those jigsaw rolls or board, so I can put the project away rather than leave it on the dining table. I definitely hope I am well soon, so we can perhaps arrange our meet-up before our next trip to Spain in February. At this rate it will be summer! One of the worse things about the cold is that I have lost my sense of smell and taste - which is really sad when eating the left-over Christmas treats. Ali x #23

Hi Jan, Happy New Year and happy 500th WOYWW. Julia's flowers were gorgeous, what a lovely gesture from you. Another desker showing a completed jigsaw ... now I really will admit defeat with mine! It's been on the go from before we moved into this house 4 years ago ... I'm with you on the less screen time, I hardly switch my PC on these days, as I use a tablet to blog. My spare time is far too limited so every minute is precious to me. Enjoy your art time, I look forward to seeing the results. Have a lovely week Heather x #33

Hello Jan

Happy New Year and Happy 500th WOYWW - such an achievement on Julia's part.

Fab jigsaw well done on finishing it. I also have a lot of things I would like to achieve this year- including various different crafts, I have brushos out on the table - no further than that. I have been trying to get back into crafting mode today.
Thank you for the visit on Boxing Day - I had intended visiting everyone but once family arrived that was it. I've not done a lot since - until today. Anne x #18

What a lovely post Jan. But what would I expect otherwise from you? Thank you for being a friend - I love it when we meet up and I see your big beaming smile, so warm and full of love and life. You know Jan, there is one thing we both love that we have never shared and that is a G&T. One day I will go to one of those teashops (or do they call them gin shops?) and have afternoon tea with gin in a teapot. Might have to stay the night as it won't be safe to drive but oh what fun it will be. Better still if friends could join me.
Love your jigsaw - I would never have the patience but I do envy and admire those who do.
Lovely thought to send the flowers to Julia, so you, you are so thoughtful. In fact you are just plain and simply Lovely!
Have a wonderful year and I look forward to seeing your drawing and painting - I had no idea you were into that.
Hugs, Neet 4 xxx

Hi Jan, what is it about jigsaws - have you seen Annie's? - seems they have to be more difficult than the 3 Peaks Challenge!!! So good to be beginning another year of WOYWW - like you say, it has enriched our life. Oh, and yes, that early summer holiday booking is so we can attend a certain very important crop :) Hugs, Elizabeth x #29

HI Jan, Happy New Year!! I didn't even know you could get Terry Pratchettt jigsaws, it looks fabulous. I love the WOYWW panel you created. You're right about finding time to enjoy the real-life stuff, hope you have lots of time to enjoy what you love this year :o) Annie C #37

Happy New Year and #500! I love your crafty desk; very clever. And that puzzle looks amazing! As I have inherited some of my Mom's as she can only do the large piece ones now, I have a new appreciation for the challenge and difficulty of them. And I wish I could say I had chosen early retirement...but unfortunately that is still 8-10 years away. I'm just not ready to move it to a priority on the list! LOL!

I hope you have a wonderful week and thanks for visiting!

Fabulous way to celebrate the big 500 Jan, a great bunch of creatives i'm so happy to be a part of. Such true words, I agree wholeheartedly every second counts and family definitely comes first and when we get those in between times we get a little time to ourselves and craft it all out!!

You are a superstar friend Jan Appleton, you must know that by now. Also, don’t forget, you kept WOYWW going for a loooong time when I had the brain thing, so some of it is down to you too! I don’t mean that to sound like blame, btw! So glad you cracked the jigsaw, 6 days is a long time for you and a jigsaw...bet you were thinking about it as soon as you woke up in the middle days!! The desk arrangement is fab...totally stolen that picture! Xx

Hi Jan and a very happy New Year and 500th WOYWW to you! I love your “WOYWW” done in stuff on your desk - how imaginative is that!! The perfect “staged desk” for the occasion I’d say! The jigsaw is amazing too. Thank you for your visit and I’m sorry for the delay in replying - a busy couple of days trying to sort out my hubby’s computer woes and other activities. Thanks for your visit, and you are right about cats and boxes. An irresistible attraction! Re my knitting - so glad you like it. I keep meaning to photograph the back... I weave the non-active colour in as I go. Kaffe Fassett has been my inspiration for years, and I developed this circles pattern from his “Persian Poppy” design. You tie together lengths of yarn in one colour and make a big ball, and do the same with the second colour, and then just knit as you would normal Fair Isle, weaving in the ends as you come to each knot. I am not a purist who throws up their hands in horror at knots in knitting - they just disappear and you don’t notice them. As you knit, the colours form an infinite variety and it looks really complicated, but it’s actually very simple! I’ll try and remember to blog about it next week. Thanks for your kind words about my tension - I always think it looks a bit of a mess at this stage, but it always evens out when you block the work. Photos will follow in due course!

Have a great creative year ahead, and I look forward to seeing some of your drawing and painting now you’ve got your lovely new easel.

Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #27

Wow, that puzzle looks very challenging! We are also doing a puzzle, hubby more than me as I just don't have the patience or eyesight for tiny little pieces! Happy 500th WOYWW, and Happy New Year as well! Thanks for your visit, Lindart #32

Happy New Year, Jan! Thanks for the visit this week. My whole crafting aura is such a mess right now. So much so that I took a bit of it and crawled off to a hotel for 4 days just to get my head organized LOL I'd never heard of Terry Pratchett. Thinking I might need to look up his books. I love puzzles. Haven't done any in ages! My goal is to start playing with my polymer clay this year. Havent' touched my stash but once since we moved down here. Way overdue. Creative Blessings!
