SHOULDER TO SHOULDER
AND FRIEND TO FRIEND..

It's getting a bit embarrassing, all this 'too busy to craft' lark, but it's true.  The crochet blanket is growing slowly as I'm not that keen on using acrylic yarn when the weather's been so warm - sweatyhanditis, you see!

I have got the card making stuff out however as I had to make a sympathy card for an old band friend in Wiltshire whose mum passed away recently:

Crafting on the dining room table this week! The photo of the bluebells is one of G's, it's beautiful, I may make a few more cards with this image for WI:

A soft focus vignette courtesy of Photoshop and Bob's your Uncle!  G has taken a couple of really beautiful pics this week:

Backlit roses in the new border....

...and a common blue butterfly feeding on the broom down in the dunes by the harbour!

Other artwork is courtesy of my friend Lynne (Lynnecrafts) who came to see us last week - she's discovered watercolours big time and painted this for me as a thank you for the hare cushions I made for her recently:

I love it! When the JanCave is back to normal, this lovely painting will be going on the wall with some other artwork. The earrings are also from Lynne and are in suffagette colours - I wore them to this event:

I played as part of an all female brass band at the Cardiff Processions 2018 event, where thousands of women marched through the streets celebrating 100 years of Women's Votes in the UK - other marches were in London, Edinburgh and Belfast. I wish you could have seen the amazing banners, all sewn by the marchers but I was too busy playing to take pics.

Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, the Paralympic champion, was the BBC presenter, a lovely lady. We just made it onto the BBC footage and our playing was heard on the news but that wasn't the priority, being there to witness and take part in a wonderful event was the most important thing.

And the first ice cold beer afterwards didn't even touch the sides :-D

It's supposed to be a quieter week but I remain to be convinced!

xxxxxx

I love G's photos. I saw the pics on the BBC website but didn't see you on the news - guessing that was on your local coverage, ours concentrated on the London march. Helen #?

Morning Jan. Well, what a week you have had! Just LOVE that bluebell picture - that's fiddling with photos to a good purpose!! The watercolour is lovely - well done to Lynne. I must go hunt out the BBC Wales news page... see if I can find you.
Hope the renovations are going all to plan.
Take care. God bless.

I don't suppose you could have found a bigger horn to play, Jan (grin)! You looked good all decked out in your suffragette outfits.

G's photos are incredible. I especially like that he used Photoshop to soften the bluebells. But those backlit roses are to die for. He is one incredible photographer. Happy WOYWW from # 6.

Good Morning Jan, what a lovely display of creativity in many forms and happy events. Not being a knitter I hadn't given the wool a thought until my Mom said the same thing regarding the season and blend.
G's photography is magnificent, fabulous way to share them by using those images on cards, the Bluebells are my favourite. Amazing talent.
Thank you for sharing WOYWW. Lynnes watercolour creation is a real delight to see.

What stunning photos - the soft fuzzy edge to the bluebell is just perfect, and I just love that gorgeous little butterfly, and Oh my, those roses.... What an incredible photographer he is!
It looks like you've been having a great time with your band and how marvelous to take part in the marches - I saw some of the London one on the news, what an amazing sight.
Love the watercolour too - lots of delicate little details - it will look lovely on the wall of your Jancave.

What a lot of beautiful photos and impressions! Thanks for sharing with us. Love to see you as part of a band. And the progress in your garden and bath room. Today we had the first rain in Wels, we are happy. It was a long time hot - not common in May and June.
Enjoy your life!

Love Gordons pics, we have a climbing rose like that one, I love the 'cabbage' types, and ours has a gorgeous smell to it.Had a fab weekend, but I'm paying for it this week! So totally knackered, there was a lot of walking, and a lot of uphill too! Love & hugs to you both, Shaz XxXx

Oh Jan, I smile every time I come on your blog and see the new life you have carved out for yourself. Your beautiful nature has helped you make so many friends so quickly. It warms my heart.
Those photographs by the Welsh renowned photographer are beautiful, especially the bluebell one. No wonder you are using it to make cards. And what a joy to me to see you embracing the card making so easily and successfully.
A lady of many talents I am pleased to call my friend.
Hugs, Neet 4 xx (and thanks for the visit to me when I was otherwise occupied with visitors yesterday)
