RIP IT UP AND START AGAIN....

...this is the reason for the song title today:
The walls have been filled and painted but G had to do some serious floor fixing before we could make a start on the woodwork. The Jan-Cave is progressing little by little :-)

I don't seem to have had much hwyl (Welsh word for gumption - pronounced hoil) for the crafting recently.  I can't seem to settle to anything sewing wise. And then I found the remains of a charm pack (plus other similar squares I'd cut from fat quarters) lurking in a bag under my worktable.
So I'm just doing some mindless patchwork - the colours are all sorted, it's just a question of 1/4 inch seams. Easy on the brain :-)
There's some old favourites in there! The green with autumn leaves on is from a  fat quarter I've had since the dawn of time, the paler green circles and flowers were from a fat q pack from Fabricland and the two bright squares at the back were from a selection of Happy Mail fabric that Kay 505Whimsy Girl sent me. Lots of lovely memories there!

I'm going to send this. plus the items pictured below to an outreach charity based in North Wales. I've sent stuff to them previously but received an email from the organiser asking if I was still interested in donating. They've asked the UK Handknitting website if they can be mentioned on their charity link but apparently are considered too small a group to be featured!! This made me a bit cross.  So if any of you would like to make something knitted, crocheted or quilty, then email me for info.

Last week's blanket is finished and I'm making another to finish off this blasted splitty yarn. I'm not doing complicated hooking, just need it to be over and done with ASAP!  Ron is showing admirable restraint, don't you think, in resisting the urge to curl up on all that softness?!

Take care, lovely gals - have a good crafty week :-D xxxxxxxxxxxx

OOh how exciting to see your craft room coming along! I always thought you had a Jan cave anyway? Lovely projects today especially all the fabric squares. Lovely summery colours. I don't have much hwyl either at the moment my thoughts are turning to my garden which needs so much TLC after all the rain.
Have a happy week

Just love discovering those Lurking items under work tables. Sewing patches is fine.I don't think I could do anything with building going on. Very distracting isn't it?Hope it's finished soon.

If only I could summon up some spark of interest in some form of crafting. Yes, my mojo has gone off on a short vacation (I hope it is short). Wonder if is meeting up with yours? But then you are so busy with other things whereas I am just sitting around at the moment.
Ah well, maybe next week ...
(In the meantime you get that room ready and you will be raring to go)
Hugs, Neet 13 again! oh heck! xxx

I bet it's just the lull before the storm for you....as soon as that fab new room is finished you will find lots of fab stash while moving it all and your head will be buzzing with new ideas. It's funny though that we both turn to 'easy on the brain' knitting or crocket to fill the gap.
Here's hoping you have a good week.
Hugs,

I bet it's waiting for the Jan Cave to be ready is putting you off doing other things. I know it would be all I could properly focus on if I were getting 'Cave' just for me! :-) Like the 'freshness' of the squares! Anne x #17

What's not to love about your fabrics - I can see orange - deelish. They reminded me of some fabric dolls I saw on Instagram by http://www.modflowers.co.uk/ Hope your hwyl soon returns x Jackie 24

how wonderful of you for donating your handcrafted items to charity. If I could sew, knit or crochet i would enter but unfortunately I'm not gifted with that talent. Vicky#7

What gorgeous array of squares there Jan - fab colour combo. Email me details if you think your charity might like a few Twiddle mitts - they are seriously addictive and a great way to clear out the oddments. x Jo

How exciting that your Jan cave is coming on. I like the name you gave it: Jan cave. (I would do as I really live in a cave house).
I hope your hwyl comes back soon and thank you for teaching me a new Welsh word. Doesn't hwyl mean goodbye too? Apart from leched da I don't know much Welsh.I speak Dutch and Double Dutch lol.
Thanks for visiting,
Happy WOYWW and have a good week,

Lots of lovely patchwork squares! I'm sure your 'hwyl' will be back soon. Glad to see you have claimed the spare room (funny how that happens isn't it?). If there was space I'd have a bed in mine (well maybe not, I 'd have to reduce the craft supplies). Recently started going to a local knit and Natter group (I don't knot, but I can natter) and they make a lot of catblankets (!). I'll tell them about your charity you never know. What exactly are they after? Presumably I could bring anything up next time I see you (see what I did there?). Love n hugs, Cindy #38

I know what you mean about not having the...hwyl...I had to look at it again. Will you teach me Welsh. I love that, and I'm going to use it in a sentence three times today. (I will do the 30% of my DNA that is Great Britain proud yet)I thought of you today because my Jan tote is often my workbag that carries my lunch and my planner to the office and it's very spring looking and I'm longing for spring--Julia has her Jan tote on her desk today! Oh, and did you see last week where Jo posted a pattern to knit handwarmers for the elderly with dimensia? They are amazing because you knit them with lots of extra things on them that they can fiddle with and helps their sensory perception. It's wonderful how important a little knitting is for charity, so you go girl. Hugs! Sandy Leigh #39

The Jan cave is gonna be awesome when finished! Your charms will make a bright and happy patchwork! Funny how you can get emotionally attached to fabric, isn't it - though I have the same with paper too. The colours and patterns bring up memories! Ron is so cute curled up there and indeed very well behaved! Have a lovely week! zsuzsa #40

Lovely colour combination there once again LLJ. I was just admiring the colour combo of the tote bag you made over on Julia's blog. You really have the knack with colours. I am mega envious of the 'Jan-cave' slowly taking shape! Happy crafting, Max #60

Hiya Jan, well behaved old Ron there. I totally get you being annoyed about that comment to the charity. I think thats awful, I really do.As an outreach, do they have premises where people can go? I wondered if they'd want general crafting stuff to occupy people? I know I can find stuff, and I'm sure others could too. Or maybe we could make & donate cards they could sell?
Looking forward to seeing the completed Jan-Cave, lol, thats an awesome name!Love & hugs to you all,
Shaz xxx

I'm impressed that Ron hasn't taken off with a ball of string to try his own hand at knitting. I know my beasts would. The Jan cave looks like it is going to be a promising new place to play. Fun colors in all those quilt squares. I was poking in the dark reaches of the closet and found a wee quilt (about 2x2 feet) done in pretty blues and greens. It was very old and worn. It rang NO bells with me. Not one clue about it. But it did make me think of you and all your fabric-y goodness. PJ #55

I guess "good things come to those who wait" might apply with your room. And what a fine stash of fabrics! I, too, really like that green with the autumn leaves. And the crochet blanket is cute! Happy WOYWW!

I could do with a bit of hwyl as well. Other than card class commitments, crafting has been pretty much non existent this year. Those lovely charm squares should help.

It will be so nice to have your own little specially designed craft room! Lovely crochet - and a very well behaved cat - mine would be lying on top of that blanket after 'clawing' all over it!

Hi Jan, progress on your room, yeah! We have bare boards here too, just waiting for the new flooring in the hall and top landing and it is quite unsettling so I understand why you can't settle to crafting right now. Love your selection of squares - I think they will look just great when you've sewn them all together. Your crochet looks beautiful but I totally get the dislike of splitty yarn, such a pain. I think that's why I stick to the one brand I know and trust not to split - easier on the nerves :) Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #41
