IT'S LIKE A HEATWAVE, BURNING IN MY HEART
It's almost too hot to craft these past few days - I've taken some knitting to do outside under the shade of our gazebo, but the manmade yarn makes my hands too hot and sticky!
So here's my desk from a couple of days ago...
More stash busting - I'm making some more lavender pillows for charity. I'm enjoying the cool blues! In the background, you can see another little zippy bag, made with the cat fabric that Julia gave me as a prezzy.
And here's the 'after' picture!! A basket full of fragrant goodies :-) I really enjoy making these, they're quick, use up bits and pieces and there's no great project to do...it's like crafting popcorn really.....
I may have bought a little bit of fabric however....cough....Do you remember the pattern? I've used a lot previously but in a bluer colourway. This is warmer toned, so I thought it was worth a try out...dunno what for yet, Any ideas?
And I'm being a good girl this week (fat chance, say my friends!!) and keeping the post short. But I had to show you this pic, taken when the evening sun highlights a couple of knot holes in our fence....
It's the Spirit who lives in our happy tree!! He's waving and saying hello!!
Well, it keeps my little brain amused anyway........ ;-)
Have a good week - I'm off on my hols next week and am going to have a crafty day with Wipso and Twiglet. I can't wait!! Get the kettle on, girls :-D

I love that the spirit in your happy three shows up to wave hello : ). I don't know what you should make with the lovely flora fabric, but I'm sure it will be totally awesome. I hope it cools down for you soon (just don't send it this way lol).
Your fence reminds me of one of my favorite tales. A man is walking past a fence and hears people chanting 13, 13, 13, 13, 13, He sees a knot hole in the fence and peeks in and is poked in the eye. When he reels back in surprise the chanting resumes 14, 14, 14, 14 lol.
I really am easily amused : ).
Love the shadow of your tree! Enjoy your trip with Wipso and Twiglet - don't forget the camera! The new colourway fabric is gorgeous. You're right though, too hot to craft! Helen 8
Oh that is an awesome photo of your friendly tree spirit. I also really like that fabric you bought. I can't wait to see what you make! Shel @ PaperOcotilloStudio #5
When I saw the tree, I thought it was kicking up its heels. Great photo. Helen also complained of the heat. Here it's been 100 F (39 C) each day, so I know heat. But I live under the AC, too. I love that new fabric!! Happy WOYWW from #3.
PS. I'll be singing that song all day, now!
Gorgeous to see some fabric work!
Trust me when I say we can't wait. Really looking forward to our fun day together.
I really love those little blue pillows...what a great way to use up the fabric scraps [I have so many!]
See you soon.....wahooooooo
Hugs,

Your little tree spirit is very flexible, wish my legs would go "akimbo" like that! Might get some weight off my derriere if they would.
Love the blues, so pretty and so cool to look at and that cat fabric and the butterfly one are both beautiful.
Must look out something pale blue to wear, I am sure it would be cooler.
Hugs & thanks for the visit to me - Neet 18 xx
Loving the lavender bags, although I can't stand the smell of lavender:)
Had to laugh at your tree spirit:)
The butterfly fabric is lovely. Would be good for a gardeners apron.

That fabric is heavenly and it's gorgeous in the warmer colour way - I'm always so tempted when I visit your desk! I love the cat fabric too even though I'm a 'doggy person' - now if only they did it with Westies on it! I hope you have a lovely holiday and a great craft day - sounds like it's going to be fun!
Love Diana x
Those lavender pillows look so good. I love that material it would look good in a kitchen. That ghost is having a lot of fun on your fence

Have a good holiday and happy crafting day.

Love your backyard "spirit"! What fun! As blue is my favourite colour, I am in love with these latest lavender bags. Hell, I love them all, but BLUE??? Nothing more to say. LOL The fabric that Julia gave you is so bright and cheery (I love cats too!) Now the new fabric? Gorgeous. I'm afraid I have no suggestions for it --- too busy admiring. But I know that whatever you come up with will be to die for. I hope you cool down soon. {smile} Nann4 #38

Still chuckling over the happy tree photo! Loving that cat fabric! I remember my mother making lavender pillows but she called them sachets. Very pretty summery blues. Diane #34
The lavender pillows are very pretty. What a cute zippy bag with all those lovely cats. Your tree photo is really fun and what piercing eyes he has! Barb #36
Jan as usual you have some gorgeous fabrics, the new one is lovely and the sachets remind me of delf, they look great packed in the basket. Have a good holiday.

Thanks for the visit, And I love that bright colored cat fabric. Such pretty little lavender pillows too. Your warm tone fabric, my mixed media ideas, I'd cut the items individually and decoupage them to some tags, cards etc They are great images. But I bet you have a great fabric idea. Good Luck with that. Happy WOYWW and have a lovely week
I had to laugh at your fun shadow! What a hoot! Love the cat bag! So bright, and the lavender pillows are fab! Thanks for stopping by and happy WOYWW!

Put the kettle on? 'Put the wine cool' more likely.... I hope you have nice weather on your hols. It looks like it. I'm reading about heatwave in the UK!
I love that tree photo. I had a giggle over that.
Those little lavender pillows are fab! And they look so pretty in that basket. Well done you!
Have a great week and a super holiday,

Your tree spirit made me so happy! He reminds me of Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, what is a 54-year-old girl like me doing watching a movie like Guardians of the Galaxy! Well, it's one of my favorite movies actually...I love space fantasy anyway, but this movie has a great storyline, many layers, great characters and lots of humor. My daughter even made me the Awesome Mix CD from the movie, and if you've seen it, you'll know what that means, and trust me you would love it. Now I'm obsessed with your kitty fabric and I have to find it! I'm due for a trip to that crazy little fabric store we have here, the FM store. Everything is deeply discounted too. Hugs dearest! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #46
I love your lavender sachets, Jan! So pretty! It reminds me of mine when they were completed and all in the basket together - they make a pretty picture, don't they! Thank you so much for your kind offer to make them for my chemo group but you keep them for your local charity. I am now onto angels (not that I've made too much progress these past 3 weeks, what with feeling so poorly). I am hoping if things go better next week, that I'll be able to crack on with them. The chemo folks love receiving gifts and lavender is so relaxing and lovely - all my little sachets went down very well! I'm also knitting scarves (well, I'm still on the first one!) - brainless knitting that at least achieves something even if I'm not up to following a pattern!
I love the new fabric you've got. It's very unusual, and I am sure you will make something lovely with it.
Thanks so much for your visit and uplifting comment! Hope you have a lovely crafting away day, and manage to survive the heat OK. It's really not too hot here in Torquay which is a relief because I hate it being too hot.
Happy WOYWW,

Hi Jan, I agree it's too hot for me I can't craft in this heat. I know five machines seem like a lot but you are right they are from when I was teaching. I found it easier and more reliable to have them set for different things though one of them is a computerised embroidery machine and that's all it does. I tend to use my main machine and this little one for paper mostly. You mentioned about overlockers and I know people who loved them but I have never got on with them. Have a great week and happy woyww, Angela xXx 27
That tree photo is really something. Love that botanical print fabric. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week Peg
that is one really awesome spirit, what's his name? Oh and you have my favorite material spread out on the desk. Your garden seems to be in the peek of health. Sorry no post this week, life is not the best with time at the moment.
Happy WOYWW
Hugs Eliza
Hi Jan, more lovely stall goodies using up your scraps, I hate waste too pity I couldn't motivate myself to set up the machine permanently somewhere (maybe that will happen when we move - idea!! ) Have a fab week and time with those two sisters - Cheers RobynO#28
I am dusting down the red carpet as I type!! Really looking forward to our day. Will email you with a few bits later. x Jo
Hi Jan, your lavender bags are gorgeous, so pretty. And the photo of your happy tree is brilliant :)
Thanks for your comment yesterday. You asked about counting on the chevron crochet ... it's an easy repeat which I think you would soon remember ... if I can, anyone can. Let me know if you'd like a copy of the pattern instructions. The freezer paper is used for applique because it has an adhesive layer that can be ironed onto fabric. You trace the shapes on to the paper, iron on to applique fabric, cut the shape out, remove backing and iron the shape on to base fabric before stitching round the shape using whatever method you like. I usually use either a straight stitch or a satin zig-zag stitch. Hope I've explained it well enough but there are complete instructions on the freezer paper box.

Hi Jan thanks for your visit - love that Botanical print fabric ! Would make a lovely washbag if it was lined with a waterproof fabric ! Your tree spirit is brilliant fun ! Love Ali x
That Tree Spirit pic is a hoot! I always see things in things, if you know what I mean! Love your makes. I am participating in a monthly challenge and all the results go to a cancer charity which is a great reason to take part. I get sent some super simple makes to do for it and next one I post soon may interest you. Cute round coin or key purses, so easy too.
