RIDE OF THE VALKYRIES
(ok, you've got to do some work for this week's music title...
Put out your arms and sing to Wagner's Music..)
BOM BOM BOM BOM BOM,
BOM BOM BOM BOM BOM,
BOM BOM BOM BOM BOM,
DA DA DA DAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Do you feel better now?? Hope you're not at your place of work while you're reading this...don't blame me if you get strange looks :)
This music came to mind when I was at my desk sewing last week, looked up out of the window and saw this...
It was like the end of the world was nigh!! We'd just had a huge hailstone storm pass over and the light was really dramatic.
Anyhow (apologies for the diversion), my desk...
Started to try out a new idea this week.
Personalised bunting..thought it might be something different. This was a try out - it was for the beautiful baby daughter of friends of mine from band.
I had scraps of different pink fabrics and I liked
the funky purple material that was bought
on holiday last year.
I quite like the effect....
I also 'broke open' the mad chicken and duck fabric this week - don't know what to call the range yet - any suggestions??
Now, don't be rude - clean ones only please :)
I've kept this week reasonably short!! (If anyone is interested in a trip to Prehistoric Avebury, see the previous post)
I always knew my cat Harry was a hero - he is named after the famous boy wizard after all - but I didn't realise that he was also Batman in disguise...
Robin's out in the garden.... :D
Have a great week xxxx

Brilliant Post Jan - love Batman! yes, that photo is dramatic, what a fabulous sight that met your eyes, glad you captured the mood.
Love the bunting, thanks for sharing - Hugs, Neet #3
The picture of your window view is gorgeous. I like the lights and colours outside just before the hailstorm starts. Love the purple and pink fabric combination. I think it's a perfect idea using them for flags. And your cat Harry... he don't realize we think about Batman. He's enjoying the sun so much. Hope you have a crafty week. xFranka #9
Thanks for the giggle today :-) How about calling the new range 'what the duck?' bags :-)
Hugs,
A x #38
What a stormy photo... love it! I am in the office, but luckily there's only me here....
I think Annie wins!!
Helen, 22.
Classic FM booms out of my radio all day long, so sometimes I am waving my arms around, others humming along, others crying with the beauty of the music, then la la la ing along. Its any wonder I get any work done.
Gorgeous bunting and bag and your blog backdrop is always cheering to see.
Have a good week.

One I Made Earlier Today
lurve that fabric and I'm thinking Clucking Quackers - that's PG rated these days. That is one funny pic and i expect they could be a suit under the fur.
Tis grey, wet, hailed and forlorn here too... I think you cam make fabby fabric ATCS.... here's a link to a piccy from Donna Downey (scroll down) you might like...

Would you believe that I used to play rugby for Portsmouth Valkyries?! Loving that bunting and that pic of Harry. I'm thinking Funky Chicken Poultry Affair? #36
Harry needs glasses to play the part lol. Buntings are so cute
Bridget #1

Harry is so clever, I love the photo of him in bat discuise LOL
you could always use the hen house collection.
Eliza #26
Fab post Jan - what a chuckle especially Batman - brill. My sister! Honestly - "what the duck" - I don't know where she gets it from!!! x Jo
Very short this week - you alright?!! Does that mean if I spot a cheap overlocker on ebay I can buy it for you, or does it mean you can't justify the space?
I've got the kettle on, Jan, get yourself up here pronto. I've got time to make a cake for you too. It's just spitting with rain here at the minute but I think your rain is on it's way!!!
What a stunning photo. Your tree is fantastic and so well set off against that amazing sky. We seem to have missed all the big rain, being in a valley it's very hit and miss whether we get weather or not if you know what I mean.
The personalised bunting is a brilliant idea, I bet it'll be a big seller, all new mum's want to personalise their children's room don't they and love the ducks!!
I think you need to inspect Harry very closely to see where he hides his cloak.
Right I'll find all the cutting out I can for you.
(Seriously, I really do hope we can meet up one day properly)
Happy WOYWW
Hugs Lisax
Ooh, I love the duck fabric, and what a gorgeous bag. Love the photo of the dark sky and blossom tree - we've had some quite spectacular weather over the last week or so, I just haven't been out in it much to get the photo opportunities - I'm a bit like a cat really (I mean I can't stand getting wet, not that I look like batman!!!. Have a good week and thanks for sharing
That photo of your cat is just too funny! I was thinking "For the birds", but I like Annie's suggestion better! I wonder how many other folk were bom boming out loud to your introduction?!!
Fiona xx #57
Oh that pic of Harry the BatCat is priceless! What's wrong with calling the range Mad Ducks then...it suits you. LOVE the bunting..great idea.
Lucky Duck Cluck!! i love it. Love the Bunting my friend does a roaring trade in personalised bunting down here in Saffron Walden

Great weather shot! the dark clouds really set the blossom on your tree off! Love the personalised bunting!!! sooooo cute! The chicken and duck bag is great.... sorry no suggestions from me on names, although you seem to have a few good ones to go from now. April #87 x
Fabulous idea to do personalised bunting, it will be a hit for sure. The duckies are gorgeous. I've been called the mad duck lady many times, so Julias idea sounds great to me. How cute is bat cat and that storm cloud looks really impressive.
Have a great week.
Von #65
The raising storm pic is really dramatic.
Love your chicken and duck bag. And Harry the Batman really made me laugh :P
Happy WOYWW!
Tuire #40
Fantastic photos this week, I love CatMan!
I need to make some personalised bunting, unfortunately her name is CHARLOTTE count those bloomin letters! Did you use iron on fixative stuff first?
I really need to come to you for classes!
We have some of that fabric in different colours, guess who has a cushion made from it on his bed?? Yes, my mad son George.
Pancakes all gone I'm afraid but they are really easy to make, if you want the recipe?
Jakixx #96
Great post... you always give me a larf! Love CatMan.... .you certainly see things from a quirky viewpoint! I love the bunting, should be a big hit and the chucksbag is fab! Off now to see Avebury... been there, love it and think it's better than Stonehenge to visit.
Thanks for popping in,
Lv JoZarty x
Wondered what all the 'batman' comments were until I went back - brilliant photo; that will teach me a lesson for skimming over your post. The personalised bunting is a great idea and I adore the 'hens and geese and ducks better scurry' fabric.

Ah falming doddar what not tighty bits
I just knocked my coffee flying doing the Ride - arms flayed about,
next time I shall remove all liquid objects before approaching your desk...
groovy bunting - will it be okay to mail you a request for a 21st bunting banner if I may...

What an amazing view, that sky is something else!
Lovely sewing projects!!

Ha, ha loved your cat gone Batman! The bunting is just so cute and so is chicken/duck bag! I will be going to England end of May and I will email you when so you can send me the Union Jack cushion! Also you must tell me how I can send you the money - my DBF lives in England so it isn't a problem!
Lots of hugs,
Cardarian
What a fabulous photo of the cat! you must scrap that! Like everything you have made too - how about just calling it the Mad Chick range?? as for the song I didnt get Wagner but now cant stop singing the BOM, BOM, BOM from the Frog Chorus! Thanks for sharing - Sunshine Girl No. 20
Lovely picture of the outdoors! Great banner going on and a wonderful picture of your kitty! He really is batman! Thanks so much for sharing!
Glenda#103
Fun post, I only wish I had my camera for the oversized, deep colored rainbow we had a day ago. Our weather is similar to your photo right now. Oh adorable Harry. Cute Henni Penni bag!!! or should I say Yucky Ducky?? Have a wonderful WOYWW
Batman? I think you've got his sex wrong that's Catwomen!!! I really like that Farmyard Frolics fabric and such a beautiful banner, great idea to personalise it too. Loved the earlier post on Avebury and v. excited to see your shop is now open, I'm off for a rummage!!

Back again. The dishcloths are knitted out of 100% cotton, they last much longer than an acrylic mix, and yes, they stretch, so I tend to knit them smallish, no bigger than 6" generally. Charleston is amazing and I would seriously recommend it to anyone. Here are two posts from our trip there last year:

If these links don't work have a look in my archives for last May.

LLJ,
I received my tote -- love it! Nicely made up and I love the Union Jack fabric! The feathered friends tote looks great too. I like the new bunting idea. I'm going to do a mixed media canvas for my friend having her first baby (that's her on my blog today). Bunting going across the canvas with the name, date of birth and the weight. I have it in my wee brain at the moment....
That tree with the dark clouds behind it is stunning.
Happy WOYWW

oooaahhh... Wee harry is just Gorgeous... lol with the batman statement... he really does as well.... love the bag fabulous makes, Hugs May x x x No10
Fab picture of Harry.
And that duck and chicken fabric is amazing! Love it!
Laura #111
How about 'cluck and quack' for the material? It could've been worse huh! Love the banners, they should sell well as it's the 'in thing' at the moment isn't it. Have fun with your creativity! Karen 151 x
Gone quackers? That's you sorted... now a name for your birdy range... Ahahaha!
I'm sorry LLJan but I seriously can't throw away my Marmite jars. It's even worse with the tiddy baby ones because, like, even one pen in them just looks ridiculous but I feel so bad putting them in the recycle bin.
Loving your photos. That personalised bunting is gorgeous and Batman just cracked me up!
Craig loves your new name for me!!
Have a great week ;)
Awesome photo....and your boy Harry is adorable.
blessings,
Cindy♥#153
Oh that is so funny - just showed my boy, Batman! Your bunting is adorable. Enjoy WOYWW, am working through the list in shifts! Take care Zo xx 77
That is an amazing picture...love it:)
I love the photo! Lighting is always so amazing after a storm. The bunting is very cute! Love the lettering. Happy WOYWW #159
I cracked up laughing at your cat in diguise as batman, that is a hoot, thanks for the chuckle! As for the bag pattern name what about "ducken"...you know ducks and chicken...made me think of the the turducken which is a chicken stuffed inside a duck stuffed inside a turkey, never ate it, but fascinated with the idea of it anyway! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina #139
*giggle* *snort* 'What the duck' fabric. *giggle* Sorry, after those 80 allergy pills I've had today it is easy to set me off. I was thinking something about poultry, like the poultry pattern or something, but not 'poultry in motion,' that's too obvious (and what does that mean anyway?). 'Cluck 'n quack' is quite brilliant too. LOVE the photo of the impending storm. It does look quite like the end of the world. I love vicious storms and am so sad I wasn't home for the one that ripped the roof off our 25-car carport and deposited it on my roof. That one was called a "microburst" which just means baby tornado. We get some real thunder bumper monsoons in the summer. The purple funky pattern on pink is really lovely. The pinking edges of the letters just adds to it all the more. nunnah nunnah nunnah nunnah nunnah nunnah nunnah BATMAN!
LOL...Your cat is Batman! That is so cute! That's a cute tote, I'm not even gonna attempt to give you name suggestions, haha!
That's an interesting picture, what a great view and so dramatic :)
Very pretty pink banner, and a stunning photo of the stormy sky. I hope the storm didn't spoil the lovely blossom. I love the cat and his shadow. If you ever visit my desk you will know I am a cat-lady too. Kate x
That is a gorgeous photo of the sky. And the blooming tree is beautiful. The picture of your kitty is too cute! dani138
husband is now convinced i am totally mad as first joining in and then chuckling when i see 'batman'...lol
another fab post and thanks for popping by and honestly drink not mine,i prefer whiskey....lol
Great photos today, Jan, love the stormy sky scene and 'cat/batman' is fab. The banner is beautiful and I think you are on to a winner there with personalised bunting. Avebury is on our 'must see' list on our holiday, mainly to see the Manor but also the stones ... only 7 weeks to go now :) We have the route all planned on a huge map, I might take a photo for next week's WOYWW, if I remember :) Hope you have a lovely creative week. Elizabeth x #113
Oh my gosh girl you play dirty!! Ride of the Valkyries will be playing in my head all day! My son is a trombonist and a big Wagner fan...actually his first trombone teachers name was Wagner, Waaaagner, not Vagner! I haven't seen emails in about 3 days...I know but have been sick so will go back and Paypal right now! Thank you!!! I hope you didn't overdo to get it to me so quick! Have a great week and thanks for commenting on my blog! Vickie #41
Adorable cat. Love the bunting - thanks for sharing - (Hazel, #173) x
Bonkers!! Missed that one out of my list of derogatory words on my course today. What the duck? LOL, I was going to go with 'Pretty Fowl' but Ithink Annie has the winning suggestion. Harry's photo absolutely cracked me up although I did have to look twice.... Thanks for popping by to see me, Cindy #43
LOL jan having a good day!? Love your bunting. Have a great Wednesday and thanks for sharing, hugs Erika.
great funny post, great pics.It really was mad weather last week, but the tree looks beautiful

Look at that storm coming over and Harry alias Batman made me chuckle. :)
Hillarious pic of batman cat! Also love the chicken and duck bag ... I would so carry one of those! They are quackery!
Thanks for sharing

You know, I was trying to remember how Ride of the Valkyries sounds, but I actually remembered as I read your bom bom bom's! The bunting is such a cute idea! I may make one for my granddaughter. The picture of the tree is fantastic! It's amazing that the tree still has blossoms on it after a hailstorm! Very eerie feeling to it. Batman in disguise...that's HILARIOUS! Have a great WOYWW and thanks for visiting my blog!
Lisa Richards
Jan, I adore your wacky comments and fabby photos each week! Great fun and a real heart-lifter. Love your bunting and blossom tree, and your bat-cat!!
Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog about my knitting. It progresses slowly. As for how I am, I've had an absolute c**p day and haven't stirred my stumps all day, or my knitting needles for that matter, and have only just started following up on WOYWW, but hoping for better things tomorrow.
I'm so brainfogged tonight that even with your aide memoire, can't for the life of me remember how the Ride of the V's goes. Never mind.
Happy WOYWW,
Shoshi #90
What crazy weather and I love your Chloe flag/banner. It's beautiful. Sure wish I could sew! ;)

Hi, Thanks for visiting me. Your tree/sky photo is FANTASTIC, and the bunting fab. As for your new fabric how about farmyard or poultry pouches? BJ#51
Fab photos Jan - and I'm all for Annie's suggestion for the WTD name :) Love your bunting and Batman so made me laugh here.
Yay, the wedding invites are finally finished - normal life can resume now, well as normal as it gets that is :)
Belated Happy WOYWW. Hugs, Di xx

Lamp on the other hand was in fault, hubby has now sorted it out! My apoligigies to Hobby Craft...and bother, now I have no excuse to go back and shop!!
Lovely photo's and I have no clue what that song was LOL
Happy belated WOYWW
I love the photo of the tree and the black sky we have just the same here! Thank you so much for visiting my blog.
Emma - The Sparkly Fairy
Fabulous storm photo! And I love your kitty cat! How about "Birds of a Feather" (as in, "flock together")? If it hasn't already been suggested? (I'm far too tired to read all 71 comments.)
Thanks for visiting me too. RosA#106
Oh hilarity!
I truly did chuckle at the Batman observation. You ought to think about diving in and doing Project Life, you know?
Love the tree photo - I managed to get something similar of Framlingham Castle a decade back - always an amazing shot when you have a black sky and sunshine!
And here's a chuckle for you. The bunting. A quick swift glance made me wonder why you had displayed it somewhat unfinished with some letters missing. Then I read on and realised that it was supposed to read "CHLOE" and no "MUCH LOVE"..... Go look.... That'll teach me to speed read.
Must find myself a table tennis bat - will play next visit!
Ooh - just thought
The fabric - stuff you make with it could be called your "Fowl Range". "Free Range" would give people the wrong idea. Or "Freaky Fowls", referencing their strange colouration...
Can't go with Janet's suggestion Chucks....noooo..... Pretty Fowl was a good idea though!
'Mad Chicken and Duck' sounds like a great name in itself. The bag looks fab.
That photo of your Harry cat / Batman really made me smile. Your tree looks even more beautiful in that dramatic light!
Thanks for already coming to see my desk this week x
WoYwW # 28
Hi Jan Thank you for popping to my place. I have been making a couple more playing card designs today. I have quite enjoyed myself. Love your bunting. I expect you'll be inundated with orders for red, white and blue soon! Is your cat waiting for Robin I wonder!!!! :-) Helen 125
Running a bit behind on my visits. liked the name for the Mad Duck and chicken fabric bag lookin' good our tree had all it's bloom knocked off by the big rain storms we've been having weird weather huh? Have a great WOYWW!
Hi there thanks for visiting me. Sadly I only had mousey hair before and it is now mousey plus grey- cruelly referred to as salt and pepper I believe - well it's not for me- if my auntie who is nearly 87 can dye her hair then so can I!!!!!
Stunning photo of tree and sky also like the 'batman' one.
My DIL friend made bunting for my granddaughters when they were born. Their names and they are strung across their bedroom windows. Look fab. Thanks for sharing Anne x
Fabulous photo of the black skies! That tree is gorgeous and really contrasts with the stormy sky so perfectly! And the photo of the Batman kitty had me giggling (especially your comment about Robin being out in the garden)!
As for the name of the chicken/duck line, "A bushel and a Peck"? Do you know that song? "I love you, a bushel and a peck" ? I don't know what song it is or the rest of the lyrics either, lol, but that line popped in my head right away :)
xoxo Karen #188
Me again! Thanks for the comment you left on my blog! Ha ha, and thank you for all the lyrics to the Bushel and a Peck song! Doris Day sang it? I probably saw it in an old movie then and that little bit stuck! And yes, I think that may have been the longest WOYWW comment ever, lol! Thanks for the giggle!
xoxo Karen
Hello LLCool J! That Batman/Harry picture just cracks me up!
Apologies for the late visit to your desk! Love the bunting. X
I don't know how I missed this post. I would call the fabric 'clucks'. Love the bag - fab. I boom boomed the song. Great pic. The bunting is amazing. Love it.
oh my goodness . . . now I have to go peek in your shop . . .you have CHIKKIN fabric xxxx
