WOYWW 151

RIDE OF THE VALKYRIES
(ok, you've got to do some work for this week's music title...
Put out your arms and sing to Wagner's Music..)
BOM BOM BOM BOM BOM,
BOM BOM BOM BOM BOM,
BOM BOM BOM BOM BOM,
DA DA DA DAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Do you feel better now?? Hope you're not at your place of work while you're reading this...don't blame me if you get strange looks :)
This music came to mind when I was at my desk sewing last week, looked up out of the window and saw this...
It was like the end of the world was nigh!! We'd just had a huge hailstone storm pass over and the light was really dramatic.

Anyhow (apologies for the diversion), my desk...
Started to try out a new idea this week.
Personalised bunting..thought it might be something different. This was a try out - it was for the beautiful baby daughter of friends of mine from band.

I had scraps of different pink fabrics and I liked
the funky purple material that was bought
on holiday last year.

I quite like the effect....
I also 'broke open' the mad chicken and duck fabric this week - don't know what to call the range yet - any suggestions??
Now, don't be rude - clean ones only please :)
I've kept this week reasonably short!! (If anyone is interested in a trip to Prehistoric Avebury, see the previous post)

I always knew my cat Harry was a hero - he is named after the famous boy wizard after all - but I didn't realise that he was also Batman in disguise...
Robin's out in the garden.... :D

Have a great week xxxx

The picture of your window view is gorgeous. I like the lights and colours outside just before the hailstorm starts. Love the purple and pink fabric combination. I think it's a perfect idea using them for flags. And your cat Harry... he don't realize we think about Batman. He's enjoying the sun so much. Hope you have a crafty week. xFranka #9

Very short this week - you alright?!! Does that mean if I spot a cheap overlocker on ebay I can buy it for you, or does it mean you can't justify the space?

lisa said...

I've got the kettle on, Jan, get yourself up here pronto. I've got time to make a cake for you too. It's just spitting with rain here at the minute but I think your rain is on it's way!!!
What a stunning photo. Your tree is fantastic and so well set off against that amazing sky. We seem to have missed all the big rain, being in a valley it's very hit and miss whether we get weather or not if you know what I mean.
The personalised bunting is a brilliant idea, I bet it'll be a big seller, all new mum's want to personalise their children's room don't they and love the ducks!!
I think you need to inspect Harry very closely to see where he hides his cloak.
Right I'll find all the cutting out I can for you.
(Seriously, I really do hope we can meet up one day properly)
Happy WOYWW

I need to make some personalised bunting, unfortunately her name is CHARLOTTE count those bloomin letters! Did you use iron on fixative stuff first?

We have some of that fabric in different colours, guess who has a cushion made from it on his bed?? Yes, my mad son George.
Pancakes all gone I'm afraid but they are really easy to make, if you want the recipe?

Back again. The dishcloths are knitted out of 100% cotton, they last much longer than an acrylic mix, and yes, they stretch, so I tend to knit them smallish, no bigger than 6" generally. Charleston is amazing and I would seriously recommend it to anyone. Here are two posts from our trip there last year:

I'm going to do a mixed media canvas for my friend having her first baby (that's her on my blog today). Bunting going across the canvas with the name, date of birth and the weight. I have it in my wee brain at the moment....

*giggle* *snort* 'What the duck' fabric. *giggle* Sorry, after those 80 allergy pills I've had today it is easy to set me off. I was thinking something about poultry, like the poultry pattern or something, but not 'poultry in motion,' that's too obvious (and what does that mean anyway?). 'Cluck 'n quack' is quite brilliant too. LOVE the photo of the impending storm. It does look quite like the end of the world. I love vicious storms and am so sad I wasn't home for the one that ripped the roof off our 25-car carport and deposited it on my roof. That one was called a "microburst" which just means baby tornado. We get some real thunder bumper monsoons in the summer. The purple funky pattern on pink is really lovely. The pinking edges of the letters just adds to it all the more. nunnah nunnah nunnah nunnah nunnah nunnah nunnah BATMAN!

Oh hilarity!

I truly did chuckle at the Batman observation. You ought to think about diving in and doing Project Life, you know?

Love the tree photo - I managed to get something similar of Framlingham Castle a decade back - always an amazing shot when you have a black sky and sunshine!

And here's a chuckle for you. The bunting. A quick swift glance made me wonder why you had displayed it somewhat unfinished with some letters missing. Then I read on and realised that it was supposed to read "CHLOE" and no "MUCH LOVE"..... Go look.... That'll teach me to speed read.

Must find myself a table tennis bat - will play next visit!

Morti said...

Ooh - just thought

The fabric - stuff you make with it could be called your "Fowl Range". "Free Range" would give people the wrong idea. Or "Freaky Fowls", referencing their strange colouration...
Can't go with Janet's suggestion Chucks....noooo..... Pretty Fowl was a good idea though!
