OH, YOU BEAUTIFUL DOLL,
YOU GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL DOLL...
LET ME PUT MY ARMS AROUND YOU,
I COULD NEVER LIVE WITHOUT YOU.....

These lyrics were swimming round my head as I was putting the finishing top stitching on this...
Another little quilt for the second granddaughter of the same lady who ordered last week's!  This little girl is a definite pink fan but I thought I'd introduce some blue to calm things down a little :-)

Here it is when the light got better! I'm quite pleased with the little pillow.
I'm determined to use up all those squares I had ready cut...waste not want not etc etc!  I've got enough for a LillyBo snuggler and another dolly cover.

Wipso was kind enough to share her knitting pattern with us last week - I thought I'd do the same with this pattern that comes from an ancient Good Housekeeping book I found in my Mum's stuff.  I'm making a scarf for a charity project and the pattern gives it some interest but it's not too flimsy.

Lacy Ladder Pattern
Cast on required No of stitches (got to be a multiple of 4)
Knit 2 rows
Knit 4, (YO, K2tog, K2) rpt this until last 4 stitches, K4
Repeat this pattern row until scarf is as long as you want,
Knit 2 rows
Cast Off

That may be the shortest pattern I've EVER written down!!

And finally, two things made me very happy this week: my rainbow crochet bedrunner has been pinned many times on Pinterest (yay!!) and while I was shopping, I espied a woman with a tote bag that I'd made. She'd been given it as a present nearly two years ago and it was still looking good. She must have thought I was bonkers as I leapt around, happy that the handles were still holding out! Apparently she uses it as her Grocery Bag for Life.

Big Smiles :-)  :-)

IT'S A PATCHWORK QUILT OF A LIFE,
CAN'T STOP THE RIVER,
JUST LET IT ROLL....

Sorry to be a rebel but there's no desk to show this week. I've been away at my Dad's, then my son popped home from Uni so no sewing at all....Tsk tsk, Must Try Harder, LLJ....   But this is the finished dolly pram quilt and pillow. Sweet colours :-)
Look at this spread of hexie gorgeousness, sent to by Twiglet and Wipso for the Crochet for Kidneys charity I featured a couple of weeks back. Thanks Girls, you are always stars - I know that these will be gratefully accepted. Elizabeth is crocheting like crazy too and will be sending hers direct. And Julia is using up her odds and ends of yarn just like I did and giving me a few to add to the pile on Thursday. I think I'll need a bigger envelope!

My offering - I used up all the ends of the Crofter variegated wool I had, which pleased me immensely!  It meant I didn't have to change colours every row either! (How lazy is that, lol!!)

Twiglet also sent these little cardis to pass on...aren't they sweet? I especially love the blanket stitch edging on the paler cardi, a lovely finishing touch. Thank you Twiglet....you are a generous soul :-)

Finally...a prezzy for me and a what-am-I-going-to-do-with-this!  The needle felt hare kit was from Helen, a dear friend in Band. She has got a different kit, so I think we're going to have to have a crafty day together soon. I've never done this before but know I'll end up with punctured fingers!!!  And the Whiskey bottle tube is empty (well done Gordon!!) but it's too good to put in the recycling bin. Any suggestions??

So, short(ish) and sweet from me today! Have a great week :-)

241? Sounds like two-for-one...which is apt really, as I have two versions of my desk to show you today!

Ladeeeez and Gentlemen...I present the most delectable, the most tempting, the most colouricious Desk No 1
I undid my jelly roll and sorted the strips out into colour groups...

One little frolic of gorgeousness...
and the other end of the spectrum. D'you know, I reckon I had a needlecord dress in the 70's that was in that floral brown fabric 2nd from left!  I wore it with my denim blue suede boots....goodness, I loved those boots, wore 'em until they fell apart....sigh

I had a lovely play and sort out but have absolutely no idea at the moment what I'm going to make with them! Inspiration will strike when I least expect it, no doubt......

So, not One Desk to enthral and entertain this fine day, but A Second, on which some actual crafting appears, faint ye not!

A friend has asked me to make a quilt and pillow for her grand-daughter's doll pram and as the pastel pretties were still around after the bunting last week, I thought they'd make a sweet little patchwork.
D'awwwwwww, a mixture of spots and stripes. And all machine washable cos I reckon it'll be 5 minutes before (a) Chocolate (b) Mud (c) Juice (d) combination of the above gets tipped over it, lol!!  And that's ok...it's what washing machines and childhood are for.....

Have a great week everyone!

COS WE ARE LIVING IN A MATERIAL WORLD
AND I AM A MATERIAL GIRL.....

Firstly, a wish for safekeeping for all our friends in the US and Canada who may be in the grip of this terrible winter weather.  Take care, we're thinking of you.

Well, after last week's shambles and shame of showing a scramble of stash...

I present a slightly more organised space for you to peruse!

The riot of ribbons has been regulated  :-)

A rainbow of pastel pretties..ready to make yet another personalised bunting for a little girl (the tidy ribbons didn't last long, eh?!)

I've been crocheting away merrily whilst watching the TV - these hexagons will be going for a charity supporting people with kidney failure (see last week's post if you're interested.)  Not only is the instant gratification of churning them out quite wonderful but I'm thrilled to be using up all the odds and ends of yarn too! And I won't be the one sewing them all up...hooray :-)

My brothers really came up trumps with some Christmas prezzies for me this year....amongst other things I received these cute little dolly tea cups that measure tea/dessert/table spoons for cooking. They're sooooooo sweet!

My other brother gave me this book...the patterns are quite simple and the animals are fab. That baboon (2nd from right) really does have a brightly coloured bottom, lol!! But the Orang Utan is by far my favourite....OOOOOOK!

Have a great week :-)

WOYWW 239 - THE 2014 EDITION!

FOR AULD LANG SYNE, MY DEAR,
FOR AULD LAND SYNE,
WE'LL TAKE A CUP OF KINDNESS YET
FOR THE SAKE OF AULD LANG SYNE.

WISHING LOVE, HAPPINESS, HEALTH, SHARING AND
CRAFTING GORGEOUSNESS TO ALL DESKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
HERE'S TO A HAPPY 2014!  LET'S MAKE IT SPECIAL....

It's all Shaz Silverwolf's fault!  She was sorting out all her stamps and made me realise that an overhaul of my stash was URGENT :-)  This is only half of it....cough...

I have made a start..these are all my fat quarters in colour groups...sad, huh?!

This is next...it may take some time!
Two of my fab Christmas prezzies...the jelly roll was from my son Rhys and the pom pom braid was from the luscious Julia herself. Aren't they gorgeous? And don't they tone well? :-)

I had such thoughtful and beautiful presents - I'm such a lucky gal. But this was my favourite:
A Photobox printed book of photos featuring my boys' journey from age 9 to manhood. I sobbed........even now I'm tearing up just looking at these pics again. Gordon, it really was the best present ever....thank you xx

Pull yourself together LLJ....get a grip!

If you are knitters/crocheters and are looking for a project then take a peek at http://www.ukhandknitting.com/knitting_for_charity.php. There are LOADS of different organisations that need help.

I contacted Natasja King about this:

I've done a couple of hexagons while TV watching, it's amazing how quick they run up and how many odds and ends of yarn you can get rid of too!!  Here's a good site for patterns: http://www.mooglyblog.com/free-crochet-hexagon-patterns/

If you want to contribute, contact me and I'll pass on Natasja's address. The deadline is 7th Feb.  THANK YOU!!

Once again, I'd like to thank all of you who comment, share and make me laugh. I LOVE WOYWW!
