RING OUT THOSE BELLS...
It's officially Happy New Year now and what a first week it's been! We've had a fair bit of snow here, enough to stop us getting out and about, it wasn't that deep but so cold it was treacherously slippy!
Big fat flakes fell, it got a fair bit worse than this!
Consequently I've spent a lot of time in the warm crafting away and not feeling guilty about it! I finished the blanket and bunny combo and they've now been sent off to my great niece:
I enjoyed making the bunny so much I've made the parts for another two but haven't yet got round to sewing them up:I also found this pretty variegated yarn in the stash and I thought I'd knit a little cardi/hat as a bit of mindless tv crafting ( I have to concentrate and follow the pattern - mostly - for the bunnies)
This is the scene in the JanCave at the moment:
Some more sunflowers WiPs and, oh look, there's some new fabric, it's part of the Sewing Rules to start the New Year with some fresh stash! Isn't it? Or did I make that up...possibly... *snigger* Anyway, I struck gold in the Doughty's Sale:
You so rarely see a decent cat print that I just had to get a couple of metres of each of these, I know they'll go well!
As it's forecast for more snow at the end of the week, I may make a start on cutting some of these out. My days of going sledging are over!
Sending big hugs to Neet who is still in hospital, we miss you so much lovely gal and can't wait until your name is on the list again xx
Have a great week xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

We had snow here end of last week, but it cleared yesterday, hope the rain that did it, hasn't frozen the surfaces this morning or it could be an interesting journey to work...Looks like you have enough to keep you occupied if you are snowed in though. Happy WOYWW and love to Neet.. Helen #3
Being as my NYR to do more sewing is partially due to your inspiration, all I can say is THANKS! I do know about parts and sewing them together- two different crafts! Robyn 4
Oh the blanket and bunny are so adorable. I want to make a bunny now....Love your new year sewing rules - snigger - love cats. We've had snow cover for a week but at last it has gone here. Hugs BJ#2
Loving the New Year fabric rule! Doughtys are here on Saturday so providing I'm not snowed in I will pop in to see what's on offer. Your bunny and blanket set is gorgeous and will be loved I'm sure. x x Jo 🌈
No snow here, although Alexa keeps issuing warnings for our area. Not so reliable, is she? I LOVE that b&W cat print. Fabulous and will make wonderful ... whatevers. I have become a bit cat-obsessed since he arrival of Poppy. That yarn is so pretty and the Bunny+Blanket combo is adorable - she will love it I'm sure. Stay warm and knit on! Happy WOYWW!

Fab new fabrics. The snow is a brilliant excuse for snuggling in the warm and crafting…make the best of it.
Hugs,

Happy new year Jan, from the top of our hill where the lane is treacherous with ice so I’m staying in as well. What a beautiful gift for your niece. The colours are so cheerful. The Jan cave looks very inviting for a day of creating.
Take care Lynn xx 12
Hi Jan, we aren't actually at home at the moment and my desk was set up before we left, now I wonder if you can guess where we are, all I'm saying is that it's much colder here than it is in the UK Lol! I love your rabbit he's so sweet. It must have been the day after we left that the snow started in the UK. Stay warm and craft on. Happy woyww with hugs Angela x7x
Well you know what they say about rabbits, and that one is so cute I am sure you will have lots next week. Love the blanket squares pattern, it is ages since I did any crochet, I love the daisy in the middle. Hugs Angela #13
Ah you had snow too, unusual by the sea. Hasnt it been treacherously slippery, frightens me now! That blanket is just gorgeous, I really must pull my finger out and start something I can do on the sofa. The bunny remains one of this year’s faves for me, she’s so sweet. I think you’re right about that NY rule, noth8ng like someth8ng new to kick start the motivation, huh!
You are a naughty woman to show me your new fabric purchases-I must resist even looking. Happy sewing, knitting and other adventures in 2026.
Happy New Year to you and family! I like to browse on your blog!
The cat fabric is so lovely. And the baby blanket too.
The bunny is so cute!
Today we had -8 Degrees in the morning. "Oh Baby....it's cold outside". Stay well.

Happy New Year!! In contrast to you we are having extremely high temperatures! Thank goodness for air con! Love the blanket and bunny and all that lovely fabric! Happy WOYWW! Susan #5
Love, love, love those cat prints Jan. Glad I could hunker down this week out of the snow and cold. Thanks for the crochet tips. Stay safe and Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah
OOOOH!! The cat prints are awesome, especially the black and white one! I got a lovely big coffee cup from DD with lots of black cats on it! Today we are having rain, and lots of it. Our annual January thaw that thankfully gets rid of some of the snow. Your Jan Cave looks nice and neat and ready to create for 2026! The blanket, and especially the bunny are too cute! Have a wonderful week, ❤️ Lindart #16
ooh hope the storm passed ok, ours was heavy rain and strong winds but we were all ok, the cat fabric is good and bet whatever you make with them will sell out. Love the crotchet granny squares, never seen ones with flowers in the centre, very clever.
