 YOU GOTTA HAVE FRIENDS!

Wow, that was one quick week! It was jam packed, I only blinked and it's Wednesday again....

I have been doing another string quilt on and off:

I'd kept four old shirts from my menfolk - they'd seen better days (the shirts that is, not my boys!) and I had a happy hour with my rotary cutter...

I added some spotty from the stash as well.

Whizzing the blocks through...

Binding like a boss! That was the name of the tutorial by MerryMabelMarket on Youtube, it really helped.

And finally...

Ta Daa! It has quite a different feel to this one but I like it just as much.

My friend Helen came over for a natter and craft session:

We were gussying up some tags...

Not high art but we had fun!

I had such a good time last week catching up with old friends from Wiltshire who were staying for the week at a holiday park not too far away. There weren't many awkward silences! The weather wasn't the kindest but we got onto 'my' beach and battled the wind and rain down the harbour too:

It was a bit more sheltered by the lighthouse but not much!

I think the look on River the dog's face says it all really! We soon saw sense and spent a happy hour in the Harbour Lights Cafe. It was so good to see Alex again, we share the same off the wall sense of humour and make each other laugh a lot - in the 25 years we've known one another that hasn't changed!!

Have a good week everyone, enjoy your crafting xxxxxx

Hi Jan, Loving the quilt and the tags. Tags are good for embellishing cards.

Always nice to catch up with friends.

The quilt is gorgeous, I'm wondering what you do with them all. I would find it difficult to let them go which is why there is so much stuff in my house! Nice tags too. Wishing you a very happy woyww, Angela x5x

I’m humming the song! Fab that you and Alex had a good time, a change is as good as a rest, I expect Alex loved it all, a bit wild or not. I expect even River dog didn’t object to a cafe stop! Bet the sea was mighty! I hope you found Alex well, despite the weather protection, that it is a nice happy photo of you both. Am a bit mesmerised by the blue quilt, it’s quite amazing how different the same pattern can look in different colours, and how one different colour stand as out on each quilt…for me it was the dark blue spot and for Sally it was the gingham, different eyes, or is she just weird?! a lovely pic of Helen, I like the tags, they will be very useful, the sort of thing that we could all do with having a stash of to gussy up a little pressie or bunch of flowers.

Hi Jan
I’m gushing over the shirt quilt, it’s absolutely amazing 💙. You are clever missus. When I grow up I’m going to be as talented as you haha. I know it was a bit wild and windy but I could feel the cobwebs being blown off from here. Lovely pics

I love the shirt quilt and am wondering if you’ll keep that one, as it’s made of your boyz shirts. Good to see friends, even in the rain, though it’s nicer to make pretty tags in the warm!
Take care and happy WOYWW

Another lovely quilt. I have not heard the term “gussying” before. I did look it up though, amazing what you can find out on the Internet 🙂🙂. How nice to meet up with your friend even if the weather wasn’t brilliant. Happy WOYWW. Angela #8

There is something about blue and white quilts that look 'clean' - I hope you understand what I mean. Guess it is possibly from my love of Willow Pattern plates and things that I am drawn to the colourways.
Lovely quilt again, and a lovely photo of you and your friend sheltering in the squall. Yes, the dog's face says it all.

Oh you 2 look so cold and damp ~ I whizzed thru your posts, it's been awhile for me, but life it's battering somedays. Never heard of String Quilting, but I love ALL the little squares you have been creating, such a variety of fabric. lots of fun projects in my abscense !! Haven't seen real flowers for a LONG time. Yesterday the snow was finally gone. Only in the 4o's the rest of the week. Enjoy a great week. Happy Woyww

That quilt is gorgeous! I think you have found a winning technique there. Do you have to put batting in them? I only know what that is cos I use it as snow for my Christmas village!! lol
Great to see longtime friends and get a catchup, I think the coffee shop was the better idea though.

Love the old shirts quilt, the additional spotty fabric jazzes it up really well. I guess this is a kind of memory quilt now. Something I could do with old scraps of favourite things. Super tags too. Yes it was so special to see my lad even if for a short time and I had to skip live church on Sunday morning but I had the live stream on anyways. Glad you got to meet up with your friends even in the wind and rain. Hugs BJ#10

Dear Jan!
This week was really running by...
I love the blue colors of your new blanket. Cool idea to take old shirts.
And I pinned the video: Binding like a boss. This video is a good help.
Nice time with Helen. And nice crafting.
Of course, River, the dog, was not so amused by the weather.
But the two lovely girls had fun.
