HE AIN'T HEAVY, HE'S MY BROTHER....

This will be a super speedy post today, there's been a lot going on this week and it doesn't stop!

I saw a Hobbycraft ad on FB for a doorstop pattern and followed the trail which led to a fun doorstop that was very quick to make.

So the old Welsh flag fabric made a reappearance and I found the bolt of fusible wadding that I bought for sunglasses etc but which wasn't right. Great for this project though!

Simple but effective! I like it very much - I've got a stall at the local makers' market this Saturday, will see if they sell on that. They may be slightly smaller but they're still effective at keeping the door open!

And brace yourselves, I've been sewing up squares...I know, amazing huh?! I'd read about small blankets being needed for a prem baby unit and thought I'd put some of my squares together - the hospital request was for any colour so that's what they'll be getting, lol!

As the blankets are only 60x80cms, there's not too much sewing up, thank goodness!

Before I say goodbye, I was saddened to hear that Cardarian's partner Alan had passed away - I remember him well from the various Crops, a quiet but very interesting man who looked upon us chattering deskers with kind benevolence. Deepest sympathies to Dolores and the family.

That's what I love about this Wednesday mob, support and celebration in equal measure.

Hope you have a good week xxxxx

Amazing, how much you can get done from week to week. Always such pretty colors. I love the door stop idea, and hope you sell them. Our crafty shows seem a thing of the past in our area. Costs to rent a place all enter in. Have a good week Jan, Sunshine and Lolipops

So sad indeed re Alan. Such a lovely man and he made 'Dolores so happy.
What fab doorstops they are, they should sell well at your stall. Not just a doorstop but a souvenir of Wales too for so many people. We used to go in the store at Llanfair PG and it had lots of souvenirs for people to buy, these would have fit in so well there.
You are such a lovely kind thoughtful person, the blanket will be loved by the nurses and by whoever get to use it.
Thanks so much for linking me,
Hugs, Neet xx

Can’t agree more about Alan, am so very sad for Dolores and the fam.
I can see why the call for preemie blankets melted your resolve to avoid sewing up, you’re a generous softie! They’ll be gorgeous, and OMG, they really don’t need to be very big do they, those teeny babies, argh. Good luck on Saturday, weather here is set fair and warm again, so take shade and water…all the things I love!! Catch up next week please? Xxx

I hope the door-stops sell well, I think they are a great idea. The Nora Roberts book is called “The Dark Witch” and is a trilogy. My daughter put me on to Z Library where you can download books for free. I bought “The Dark Witch” from Amazon and downloaded the next book from Z Library. Both my husband and I love Edward Marston’s books. Those blankets will be appreciated I am sure. Happy WOYWW. Angela #12

Hi Jan, I'm here just been a bit distracted today. Sorry because I'm sure I've used that excuse before Lol! I love the door stops and bet they will sell like hot cakes. I am sure the blankets will be much appreciated. Sorry to hear about Alan and you're right support is so important at times like that and for some it might not be there in their everyday lives so if we can help even a little that has to be good. Wishing you a very happy and productive woyww, Angela x11x

Oh my, it's been a tough week for old-time deskers. Alan, yes, I remember him well. Such a sweetheart. He and Doug seemed to always have their heads together nattering about computer stuff. And Jozarty too. So so sad. Your good works and lovely projects are just the thing to life the spirits a bit. Sad to hear you won't make the crop, but enjoy your anniversary! Maybe next time.... :D
Happy (late again) WOYWW

Oooo love the door stops. Is there anything heavy in them or are they just fabric, couldn't quite get my hot menopausal head around it - LOL. The blankets will be just right and oh so cute for the prem babies.
Thanks for confirming you are constantly hot as well, a number of ladies have replied the same so I don't think a visit to the GP is necessary as I don't feel ill, just HOT. Happy Hot WOYWW BJ#10

HI Jan
That door stop looks effective... especially now that hopefully the temps are cooling and you can open a door here and there to let fresh air through. Color? Oh my, those will be colorful indeed. Hugs & Creative Blessings! Kelly #18
