THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND!

I haven't been coping well with the heat and it's been a few degrees cooler here than those in the South and East - I sincerely hope that everyone has managed to get through ok by whatever means. I'm hoping that the fall in temps for the rest of the week will help matters.

Before the crazy temps, I did do some crafting in the JanCave!

I'm sorting through odds and ends of fabric here to cut out pieces in order to make some more mastectomy drain bags.

It's good to use up the last bits!

The cotton twill tape for the handles is new though, it's very cheap on eBay and saves time! Attaching them with the box method was a pain in the derriere, so I worked out a way of attaching them when stitching the top of the bag.

Do one line of stitching, flip the handles up, do another line of stitching to fix them in. Then you fold the bag in half and do one side and bottom seam. Much much quicker!! There's a pile ready to be collected.

The weather was fab last week but not too warm which was perfect for Lynne and Brian coming to stay:

Yay, lovely pic of my gorgeous mate! We've known each other for nearly 40 years but hadn't met up for nearly three, so there was lots to catch up on. Lynne was a star and brought me all this yarn from her stash, all DK so perfect for crochet squares. Isn't it a lovely colourful mix?

The tide was perfect too, 8.9m at 8pm so lovely for mooching down the harbour when the heat of the day had gone:

We have various pics of us like this over the years - we're a little bit older and greyer but still mates for life xx

Have a great week everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

So glad your get together went well, was good that it wasn't this week in the high temps - was unbearable here but not been able to go out with Covid was at lease one bonus!! Great photo of the 4 of you, as well as the bundle of wool - beautiful colours. Happy WOYWW Helen #2

So glad that you had such a good get together with Lynne Jan. It has been far too hot to be crafting over the last couple of days. Nice trick with the handle stitching. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

Hi Jan, Temps reached officially 39 here yesterday, but several people in the village said their outside thermometers, in the shade, went to 42. We had a nasty fire break out along the dunes, from the next village and the wind quickly sent it this way. A camp site and holiday park had to be evacuated. Part of a nature reserve where they film Springwatch, was also badly damaged, with a lot of wildlife killed.

Lovely fabric. Glad you hav e found an easier way of attaching the handles. Also lovely colours with the wool.

I have three of those cooling scarves that Lynne has on. They are really good. Even got one for the dog. Glad the temps weren't as bad and you had a nice time.

Happy WOYWW

It was wonderful to see you all after so long. It was a lovely visit, full of hugs and laughter.
Your trick with the bag straps is neat.
Yes Bella and Gracie were hot and bothered yesterday. Today is much cooler.

Oh my but it looks like you were both in yarn-y heaven. And a breezy harbour sounds perfect. Your use-it-up bags look like they will be fab, as ever. You have a good eye for combos. Honestly, our house looked like it was shrouded for a funeral in Victorian times, LOL! Black paper over the windows, curtains drawn, fan running and no lights unless absolutely required. The Hubster and DD made fun of my efforts, but managed to keep it to under 22 downstairs and it only finally crept up to 25 by yesterday right before the temp dropped. HA! Thank goodness, Next time we get this heat I think we will all be sleeping on the cold clay tiles in the entryway DOH!
Happy WOYWW!

What a wonderful week! You met Lynn and Brian.
Wow - beeing mates for such a long time.
Today it's very hot in Austria.
You are such a solicitous lady, making the mastectomy drain bags.
(Hope, I found the right word...?)
Congrats to the yarn. Nice colors.
Best wishes from Eva.

Such a lovely pic of Lynne and her yarn, and then a great one if all four of you, nothing like a persistent friend is there. Cough. Went to Bognor on Friday to see sally, a lovely cool 8 degrees below our inland temp, must say it was bliss! I think yesterday was hardest, so hope you can enjoy it again now it’s dropped to normal summer numbers. Xx

So happy for all of you to be able to gather together and enjoy time together. Wishing you all a return to normalcy with your weather. I guess I did not know you don't usually have "Hot" weather. We usually end up with storms with the change over. I've windows to wash with all winds, creating dust/dirt I am fortunate as one level home and the windows release to fold into the room so don't have to go out, be on ladders etc to have them cleaned. It's all an inside job. Best wishes for some cool weather.

Oh Jan, what a great time you had with your friends. I love to see that. The fabrics are wonderful and I can imagine it is a bit too hot for making much art at the moment. Take care and stay cool !!! (I know you will)

Great that `Lynne and hubby came down before the heatwave. Lovely to have been friends in a foursome for so long. Makes all the difference when hubbies get along too. Lovely happy photo of the four of you and a lovely photo of Lynne and her wool gift.
Like you I suffered in this heat, not my thing and sleep has been terrible so now I am dozing in snatches. Had a tummy upset (new medication)which made it worse.
Did you get my message re Jo?

I bet you all had a good time, nothing like a get together. It was a bit cooler here this morning but now it's warming up again ....sadly! I am not a lover of this heat. Bet you have fun with the new yarn. Well done for getting some sewing done too. Keep safe and have a lovely and hopefully cooler WOYWW, Angela x10x

Love those pics of you and Lynne, it's special to have 'old friends' - I know my bff for 50 years and although we're 'old and grey' now, when we are together we still feel like 15 years old and giggle a lot! Temperatures dropped overhere (it rained! yay!) so I'm about to spend the afternoon in my atelier. I, too, don't like the heat - just like you I am amazed about the men riding the Tour... that cannot be very healthy and I hope they will get to the finish without dropping of the bike... Thanks for your visit to my blog, hug from Holland, Marit #5

WOW super duper photo of you all at the harbour. Not sure it got cool here in the evenings during the heatwave, in fact I am still struggling "truth be told" (oh there I go with Nessa again). I survived the graduation with over 3000 people there, but only just as it was rather overwhelming and really hot for me too - special day though. Hugs BJ#8
