 JUST REMEMBER IN THE WINTER

FAR BENEATH THE BITTER SNOWS

LIES THE SEED THAT WITH THE SUN'S LOVE

IN THE SPRING BECOMES THE ROSE

One of my favourite songs, partly because my dad used to sing it with his male voice choir - still makes me well up but it's a message of hope isn't it? The year lies ahead and we have to make it special for ourselves xx

A short and sweet post today, no sewing cos my machine is still away being serviced. But there is card making!

It's just easiest to get everything out before you start! I have a couple of images to colour but can't share them just yet. Those Staedtler felt tips are great for cheap and cheerful and that new book of papers was £4 from The Works...bargain!

I've been stash busting with the pink yarns left over from the blanket, crochet squares and preemie baby hats, both quick and easy and mindless to do when watching telly:

Just doing what I fancy really!

And that's it craft wise though G is ploughing through the glass slides and found these which I thought would be of interest to Neet who loves Llandudno. The wealthy family who took the photos obviously went there on holiday - it hasn't changed that much!

The Great Orme.

I love the bathing machine on the beach! It's so fascinating to see these photos of a bygone age.

Have a great week, have fun and enjoy your crafting....I'll try to make mine a bit more interesting, lol!

Hi dear Lunch Lady Jan! Happy 2022!
Yes, I’m golfing to be positive too, just like you, and I did a double take when I saw a crafty Jans desk! But then I’ve a lovely card here from you ( thank you) that proves you’re lost imaginative and clever in your cards.

I actually loved that you did just write the usual basic three liner or worse still two liner in a card, I never quite get that. Yours was satisfying indeed and heart cheering so thank you.

Wow, love those glass slides of G’s, they are amazing, esp as we had our crop at Llandudno, so know it!. As you say a bygone era, I’m assuming by the clothes Edwardian, so early turn of 20th century?

Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

Happy New Year :D I really need to sort out my sewing room and thanks for the reminder about hats! such a great way to use up small amounts of yarn and for a good cause too. I have a lot so might be time to start an evening TV watching project for sure.

I SO need to send my machine away for a clean and service. Another good reminder!

Happy 1st WOYWW of 2022!

Aww, one of my faves too, the Bette Midler version does it to me, I think a full male voice choir may well reduce me to puddles of snot! I know they are for preemies, but the size of those little hats really struck me today, however healthy, having a preemie must be so scary. Am also struck by the card making stuff….it always starts with one shoebox, I was warned! Llandudno Bay has remained very recognisably the same hasn’t it,I wonder if that massive building is still there or in use…might have to hit Google and have a look! A bathing machine on the beach…These days it would be useful…..if it contained a heater, a hot bath and a kettle!!

happy New Year, Jan. Oh my. Those Llandudno pictures! No, not a great deal has changed. The almost-dome shaped area left of the Grand Hotel in the first picture isn't there now - although... the area has just been sold and there are plans afoot! I was walking along that area of the prom the other day...

Great bargain for that paper pad - well found. Yes, I always surround myself with everything before I start, too!
Take care. God bless.

Happy New Year to you and yours. I love your moral of life...ours is the same. Well it will be once we manage to shake off this bug. At least we test negative for Covid. I’ve sat and done a little crochet on the baby blanket I’m making but that’s my lot. I’m back open for business today but I’m hoping i don’t get much until I have the energy to do it.
Hugs,

Your yarn matches your paper pack perfectly! I'm very excited to see these photos as well. It would be interesting to find out who these people were and what their lives were like. I'm fascinated by history in general. Happy New Year Jan! And happy month of Jan - I've probably made this joke every year :) xx zsuzsa #25

Happy New Year Jan. Your little hats and blanket squares are the perfect way to keep the brain ticking over when all else is impossible or just too much hassle. Those slides are a real treasure trove - what a great job G is doing in preserving them for the future. xx Jo

Dear Jan!
Also without your sewing machine, your blog is so interesting.
The card making session and the tiny little Baby hats, they are so cute!
The glass slides from G are amazing.
To see the clothes from the people. Would be very nice to see the beach of the fist photo in comparison.
Thank you for this week-table.

Hello my lovely, yes we have to make the best of the year that we can - one day at a time! Unfortunately if I got all my craft stuff out at once I wouldn't be able to move!! Good to know you appreciate my pain with the blow up bed - the worst night was when I woke up with a bad leg cramp - the term beached whale springs to mind. I was crying and laughing at the same time!! Oh gosh love the photos - that bathing hut is so quaint!! Thanks for stopping by, happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, love n hugs Cindyxx #18

Hi Jan, lots of lovely stuff on your desk. The paper pad is a bargain - I have not been to craft shops in over a year I think. Might have to pay a visit to The Works online. The baby hats are so tiny, but so cute. I went to Llandudno many times as achild, but those photos are even before that lol. I love looking at old photos, seeing the buildings, the clothes, completely different way of life back then. Not all changes have been for the better. I haven't copyrighted the Jan-Blan, but I'm thinking I may have to make another 2, as the bunk beds have a trundle bed underneath for when we have all 3 GKs to stay together, and Emily will probably want one too. It will keep me out of mischief. So sorry about the furniture polish, I won't do it again Miss. Lol. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #23

Nothing at all dull a out your post, Jan. I always look forward to reading it each week. You must be missing your precious sewing machine. Let's hope that now the holidays are over it will be home with you again soon. I like the paper pads from the works - the paper is usually thick and feels like quality with lovely patterns too. I'd love to say I've picked up my hook again but it'd be a fib. The mojo has deserted me. For now! Hopefully not forever. The photos brought back lovely memories of the crop at Llandudno. Have a creative and productive week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #28

Oh fun photos. Thanks for the visit, I am taking a break from cleaning out an area downstairs...drop and go is done, TOO much is TOO much. Will do Christmas this weekend room by room and will make it easier next year, with small totes. Have 2 Nativity's to take down and I am really careful packing them up. We missed the mess of a storm only high winds and -15 temps no damages. Hoping it settles to a regular winter Enjoy a good week and have fun doing what you love.

Hi Jan and a Happy New Year too you. Such pretty colours, papers, hats and squares.
Your slides of Llandudno reminded me of the time G took me there for the day! 50+ years ago. I was 17. It was a Bank Holiday. We were stuck in lots of traffic on the way home and very late. My father was waiting at the gate and was very cross! Told G off, I was mortified. :-) There were no mobiles in those days and we did not have a phone at home. Take care. Anne x 7

Thank G for the photos. Yes, I love Llandudno and miss being able to travel to it as and when I want like the old days. Old days - two years ago!!
Love the fact that you are card making, you are doing such wonderful things with paper, pens and paint. So talented in so many different ways.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year - my Very Best Wishes to you and yours for 2022.
lots of Love

HI Jan, how lovely to be back snouting at what you've all been up to this week :) You can get some lovely papers pretty cheap at The Works can't you? All of their craft supplies are good value, I really like the kits and "alterables" like the wooden and papier mache pieces too. It's always fascinating to see old photos isn't it, especially if it's somewhere you have a special interest in. I always wonder about the pictures with people in - how did they end up in a junk shop or whatever, why isn't someone treasuring them and are there photos of my ancestors knocking around somewhere that I would love to see? Bit sad in some ways, but still an intriguing glimpse into the past. Anyway, here's wishing you and yours a happy and healthy 2022 :)

ps me again - in answer to your question, yes, quite a large proportion of my wages don't make it out of the shop, but tbf one of the main reasons for going back to wor was to fund my mai=ny hobbies, so it's all good. Also wanted to say, that's a beautiful song and a great sentiment for this time of year as we're all looking forward with hopeful optimism. Of course, when my sons were young they would have sung "fart beneath the winter snows" and found themselves most amusing :)
