WOYWW 640

NOW IT'S TIME TO TIDY UP

AND PUT EVERYTHING AWAY.....

I can't believe it's been 40 weeks since our big WOYWW celebration, seriously I think there's a time stealing imp on the loose somewhere. Either that or I'm getting old - actually don't answer that, I think I know the correct reply, lol!

Short and sweet today - I've been inspired by quite a few deskers who are having a sort out and tidy up. The JanCave was in a right old mess, so let's make it worse before it gets better:

Out everything came and was (a) tidied (b) recycled or (c) given to the WI bric a brac stall. I even found the Trophy I won two years ago for the most points in the craft competitions so that's gone back to the committee.

It gladdens my heart to see this (sad but true). I had a spare wardrobe hanger so decided to keep my yarn in it, that makes me happy too! I've used a lot of my stash and gifted yarns up doing yarnbombing and charity squares, that blanket is destined for charity too. I haven't got much fabric either, those two boxes on the left are far from full.

I had a message from the Harbour Lights cafe that my RNLI box was running low so I've been doing a bit of sewing.

Neet gave me this b/w fabric a while back and this is the last bit being cut out to make some tote bags.

Two of each colourway - I already have cases/purses in stock which I'm very grateful for as the JanCave has been way too hot for sitting in and sewing these past few days!

Hope you have a good day desk snooping - roll on the thunderstorms tonight, I love them and it'll clear the air a bit!

See you next week xxxx

I've got a week off soon, but not at all sure (no, very sure) that I'll spend it tidying, no matter how many deskers have a good sort out and tidy up!! Loving the new totes. Happy WOYWW Helen #?

Wish I could get my stash down like that but am working on it using it on charity items. Must be getting old you say I am old and boy have I felt it this summer! Think of the excitement of replacing your stash in that lovely wool shop! Ani

Lovely tidy cupboard, Jan. Once it’s cooler I need to be equally ruthless! Too hot for me at the moment so roll on the rain!

Well done on the tidying etc. I really do need to do the same but on a mega scale! I too have a wardrobe hanger for my yarn - if only it would all fit in there! Your bags are fab - you do an amazing job keeping your RNLI box stocked up. xx Jo

Love the wool hanger! I keep mine in plastic boxes in the garage . . . . when I use up a ball I forget they're there and go buy new!!

Hope we are home before the thunder starts. The slightest sign of blackness and we'll be off if i have anything to do with it.
Had to smile at your messy photo at the top - that is not messy in comparison to a papercrafter's desk. But when I see your tidy picture I do see that you have done a lot to tidy up.
Now Jan, where do you store your papercraft stuff - your lovely watercolouring?
Have a nice week
Hugs, neet xx 17

I've been doing a bit of tidying and sorting too. Doesn't it give you a lovely glow to see everything neat and organised, however short-lived it will be. Love your wool storage and your tote bags are fab. It's just a bit too hot up here too. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #27

Busy as usual, Jan! The RNLI keep you on your toes, and it's nice to know how many gorgeous bags, pouches, glasses cases and the like are now being enjoyed by so many people and admired while they are out and about, I am sure! I love the wardrobe hanger idea for your yarn storage. Genius. Thank you for your visit, and I'm glad you liked the result of my taking your advice about darkening the grout - it's worked wonders! Definitely a tip to remember for the future. Also the DVD art - I'm really pleased with how it all came out and can't wait to do more now. I wasn't sure if my multy-cooker would be hot enough but it really did the job.

Happy WOYWW,

Hi Jan, just getting round as I've been in the cabin most of the day. The tote bags are lovely. I have managed to get rid of a few boxes and sort a few things but not enough! Enjoyed having a look round yours and very impressed with the organisation. Have a lovely woyww evening. Hugs, Angela x19x

HI Jan, we love thunderstorms too, but lately they've been teasing us and passing on by! We did get some rain this morning, but now it's sunny and hot. We even had thunderstorm warnings and watches for our area last night, and didn't get any. It usually goes south of us and/or north of us. We are pretty protected by Lake Ontario! Your new tote bags are beautiful, I would choose the one on the bottom! I don't know why September seems to be the tidy up month, I guess because school starting? Even though I haven't gone to school for ages, September still feels like a starting point. Have a great week, Lindart #29

Ah, you do love a clear up/out! I love the sight of the yarn in that wardrobe hanger thingy. It makes me happy to hear that your stock reduces so consistently at the cafe, you are such a giver. Please expect a phone call at week’s end…xxx

Oh YES stood in the rain and thunderstorm earlier but still HOT. Love the sorting and the sewing. The wardrobe hangers are cool aren't they, like yours for yarn. Glad the mole made you smile too. It made shallow feeding tunnels which we watched it create so funny. Happy WOYWW BJ #16

LOL! When is you box of goodness NOT running low? they always want more. In this past year so many charities have really struggled and will carry on doing so. They must cherish you and your work. well done. And I love that hanging yarn storage thing - fab idea, if we only had actual closets in this house...

I should declutter my atelier too... I keep on shouting that it's 'not elastic' and still I come home with new stuff... I might make it a weekend-task to start cleaning up the place (but then again, I might not...) I LOVE the bags, especially the ochre one! enjoy your weekend lovely one. Hug from Holland, Marit #2
