 I DID IT MY WAY.....

This title made me smile as I'm writing today's post - I absolutely detest this particular song but as Julia will probably tell you all, that's the way I roll.

Except when it comes to certain tutorials on YouTube that is, lol!

I had another try out with Ceecee Creations - these are the winter and summer doodles, there are spring and autumn ones too. They're easy to find via the search facility on YouTube.

Hmmm, not so keen on this one. I don't seem to get the consistency of the paint right, maybe my watercolours are too old (at least 30 plus years.....!!)

It's fun trying them out, I find I do better attempts when I'm listening to something or talking on the phone, it's almost as if I'm not over thinking the process. It's therapeutic anyway and I shall keep on doing them.

After quite a gap in time, I was asked for more masks this week to sell in the cafe:
All in a medium size, there were enough large sizes already. The white cloud to the left is a voile curtain that used to be in the huge window in our hall, it's had a wash and I might make it into drawstring bags to put loose veg in at the supermarket. Upcycling and reducing plastic usage too!

Using up odds and sods of fabric, the next step is to put the pleats in.

And that's it, short and sweet today. The weather has been mixed but I've been outside tidying up so haven't done that much crafting.

Hope you're all keeping safe and well, I'm hoping it won't be too long before I get my jab. It'll be interesting to see what the Welsh government does this Friday, I can't see them relaxing the rules too much.

Have a good week xxxxx

Only yesterday I was talking "masks" because as we drove through our town we saw only a few people wearing them. It was early and there were not many about I must add. Then when we got to Preston it was a bit mixed in the town centre (on the way to a medical appointment I must add). Anyway I decided I should write to someone, like Posh Spice, as she is a designer and always in the media, and ask her to design some fantastic masks and promote wearing them. That way if they became a fashion thing maybe more people would wear them. But then, instead, we should just get some of your beautiful masks worn by people in the public eye.
I just love your paintings - you have found the perfect design for you, these are Jan specials and you own them. What a fantastic set of cards you are making in this way. Can't wait to see your designs for Christmas cards.

Don't sell yourself short. I think your versions are beautiful. Keep going! As good as you are, maybe treat yourself to some new watercolours for Mother's day? :) Surely you deserve it! And more lovely masks. You have been a busy bee.

Have a great desk hop!

Did you do it your way? I can’t imagine why you don’t like the song, it ought to be your anthem!! I LOVE the one you aren’t sure about...I know nothing about paint consistencies and can’t see what you mean at all. I just like the look of it. Not overthinking...oh my life, that is such a good tip for some. As I’m so shallow, it doesn’t much apply to me, although this blessed Mother’s Day card may be an exception. I have a sneaky suspicion it’s because I don’t want to..... catch up v soon, huh? Xxxx

I’m enjoying seeing your watercolour paintings, just my style.
I’m with you on the overthinking. While I’ve been doing my online textile course I’ve found things flow better if
I’ve got some music on. Thank goodness for Alexa and the variety of tunes she can supply with no news or travel
Interruptions.
Have a good week Jan

Hi Jan, I love your painting. They'd look great mounted onto a card.

The masks are nice and I am sure there is one for any taste.

You take care.

Lovely collection of fabrics for your masks and I am sure they will sell in a jiffy. I think your watercolours are lovely and Ceecee always comes up with clever but simple ideas.

Have a lovely week.

Hi Jan, it was great to catch up yesterday. I dreamt of us all going in a St Hilda boat to Iona this morning! One day🤞🏻🤞🏻. I think I like your watercolours best when they’re all cool colours. I really like your doodles. Following on from yesterday, I found it easiest to use tubes if I bought a little box and some empty pans to squeeze the tubes into.
I love your masks! Enjoy your painting as these stormy few days pass over us

That beach fabric is just SO perfect for your town! I have no clue what you are talking about with the painting - I love all of them and can't see an issue with the consistency. I would think, unless they are bitty, they are perfectly fine to use. I've seen people on my travels with sets that their parents used to use. Acrylic paint on the other hand, not so forgiving. I honestly think you could sell your paintings, especially as cards, I absolutely love them. As always, stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8

You are doing a grand job with those watercolours so colours split depending on their pigmentation, you could so easily print these Jan as extra charity cards. It's something i'd head towards all day long. You've reminded me I need to make some more masks that elastic is the best i've come across and I have metres and metres of the stuff still left. Super doodles, Jan - I love the seasonal aspect. Hopefully, we won't be needing those masks much longer now and one day they'll become collectables. Just imagine a few decades from now on Ebay: original, handmade Covid-19 masks from 2020/21. Could easily happen, LOL! I'm waiting for my jab invitation too - probably another week or two - Hub's getting his on Saturday - he's 58. With our son back at school, I'm getting a little nervous. I would still keep keep him home if we had a choice. Hope you get your jab soon! xx zsuzsa #24

Super mask making Jan - lovely fabrics. Your doodley water colour pics are so neat. The paint looks fine in the photos so maybe you are being too critical! As you say - you are enjoying it so just keep on keeping on. Interesting about them being better when you are multi tasking - well that's not a surprise Jan - we wonder-women achieve so much more that way. xx Jo

Oh what pretty doodles. I also noted the circle watercolor you made earlier post. OMG I love it. I've enjoyed some on Pinterest but just not taken the time. And a great reminder, thinking of spring/summer colors for the masks and need to go thru the fabric. Hope things are good your way ennjoy the week.

I absolutely love your watercolour doodles, Jan, and particularly the one you said you weren't so keen on. They are all gorgeous. CeeCee is brilliant, isn't she, and I love how she adds touches of gold. One day I shall do some more of these - they are really fun to do.

Thank you for visiting. I'm glad you like the pattern I have chosen to join my squares together. It's tremendous fun to do, the weaving of the chains to get the braided look. I just wish it showed up better with the black yarn! Kitties project managing lol! Sleeping on the job, more like! They are going to love lying on the throw once it's finished. I can see my hubby ending up sitting on the floor again...

Hi Jan, I hate that song too - the lyrics get my dander up every time I hear it. I could go on but suffice to say I imagine it's Donald Trump's favourite song. In complete contrast, your doodles are delightful. And I love the more subdues colour choice for the winter page. What's 30 years - it's no time at all! I'm looking forward to seeing your Spring collection too. I like listening to books, podcasts or music while I craft though I wouldn't claim it helps with my thinking process :) I started to wonder why, as we make our way out of lockdown, there would be a new demand for masks but then I remembered all those spouses and family members who will be allowed to visit their loved ones in homes again and thought, yes, they will need new masks. Happy days! We're doing not so bad here - staying out of trouble's way. We've had our first vaccinations so just waiting for the second. Hope you get your appointment soon. Hugs, Elizabeth x #30

well, since I have no formal art training of any kind and I really don't know what kind of a look you were after for the painting Jan, I have to tell you it looks fine to me. I am impressed with how tiny all the spot look together too. ( I think I am finding it easier to do big things so far) and still fit on card fronts size "big" lol. Love the idea of produce bags that is smart :) ~Stacy #33

Jan, I think your watercolors are looking awesome. Every bit as good as CeeCee's and not to take away from her, but you are doing great!! Love the dotty fabric for your masks! I think it's cute along with the beachy scene one. Such sweet labor of love!! Jan things are getting better in my neck of the woods, and I hope so with you guys! Like you, I am still waiting on my jab!! I'm NOT looking forward to it!! Blessings to you friend! :) Felicia #31

I am just in love with your painting - I'm glad you are enjoying it too! I love your idea about the bags for the supermarket - and I know you'll do it. I have these ideas but never get round to it. Very wild and windy here today but quite warm although I think it poured last night. Do hope you hear about your jab soon - a disadvantage of being young and healthy!! Love love your watercolour doodles, they are SO effective, have actually started a to-do list with them on it this week!
I'd say the OLDER adults leaflets are for 60+ as hubby is 64 and I'm 57, I'm sure you will let us know when your letter comes. Hubby is having a rather bad reaction to his jab, knocked him for six from about 5 hours after it and the following 24 hours. He's been taking lots of pain meds but nothing stops him eating though - LOL. I'm still pondering it all as I can get nauseous even after a dental injection.
Thanks for the visit BJ#16

Hi Jan
Just popping by to say Hi and make sure you are doing OK. I don't seem to get on WOYWW these days. Must try harder but while Freya is home I'm making the most of her before she goes back and I'm still going out to work thankfully. The time I have is either spent in my craft room or the garden. I will try and join in soon though.
Lovely to see your watercolour doodles, they are great, don't put yourself down. I've dug an old half finished cross stitch out and have been doing that on an evening. Haven't done any for years but really enjoying it.
I think folk are realising we will be wearing masks for a long time yet, I was asked for some last week for the first time in ages, luckily, I have a good supple already made. We have to wear them all the time at work and it's funny how they have just become part of life now isn't it.
Fingers crossed you have your vaccine soon. Rich had his a couple of weeks ago so hoping it won't be too longer before I get mine too.
Take care and love to all the family
Hugs Lisa xx

Hope you get the vaccine! I am registered for vaccination, did not get an appointment. Maybe it takes time, because we had Corona in November....
Keep on sewing!

Such a tidy desk this week! Sorry I didn't get round late week, so I thought I'd call in now! I have some pretty squares, (mainly dogs and cats and bones, and some flowery ones for the inside) which I was going to make some masks waaay back in first lockdown! But I'm so scarrrred of my mums sewing machine I haven't even started yet! A kind lady made me two out of the the yellow doggy bones one, so I could easily copy that one, they look easy! Keep crafting. Stay safe. Happy WOYWW ((Lyn))
