WOYWW 535

ALL YOU CAN DO IS STEP BACK IN TIME..

I spent a very happy morning having a big sort-out this week...before the JanCave could be reassembled, there needed to be some hole filling, painting and a good deal of hoovering.

And sorting.....

And did I have a good clear out! All those bits and pieces I kept just-in-case, they've all gone to recycling and did that feel great!

Two hours later....

Back and ready to play nicely - woohoo!!

I enjoyed putting my bits and bobs back on the shelves, tidying up the boxes, folding all the lining fabrics so I can see them and just generally faffing!!

I may have succumbed to some new fabric - it was in the sale, honest.

I've set the ironing board up to its highest position and it's fab for cutting out, no bending over at an awkward angle (I don't find cutting out whilst sitting down comfy at all)

And I've got a pile of bits ready for fusing the fleece onto - all the items I've made to sell in the cafe are going like hotcakes, so I need to make some to have in reserve. The bank holiday weekend was mad apparently, so Laura the cafe owner was telling me, and I've broken £200 with my RNLI sales. *happy dance*

The importance of funding the RNLI was emphasised to me when last Saturday, I had to make a 999 call to the coastguard as G and I saw a kayaker in distress just outside the harbour. It was a ferocious 9.3m tide and the guy was in the water, just hanging onto his boat. 8 minutes after my call, he was being hauled out of the sea by the lifeboat crew - I understand that he was hypothermic, in shock and the crew called an ambulance.  I'm not telling you this to big myself up, please understand this, it's just that it could happen to anyone and it's made my fundraising even more important to me.

And Finally.....thanks must go to the And Finally girl herself, Shaz Silverwolf! I'd commented on her blog about some really fab cottage/house stamps and look what the lovely lady sent me:

Complete with sentiments to run up some cards! I love 'em Shaz, thank you so much and will have an awesome time colouring/painting them xxx

Hope you have a wonderful week - enjoy your crafting!

What a lovely gift from your mate Shaz. That should provide some hours of fun during the winter months.
Wow to being involved in a real life-saving situation. How lucky that you two were there and spotted the guy. You will be the unsung hero(ine) in my eyes from now on. Not something you want to see but how good that it only reinforces all the good you do with your makes. Not just to you, but to us all.
You made a super job of getting the JanCave back to normal, or even better than normal? As soon as my back is better I will have to do a major tidy up of my craft room. It is a mess. A real mess.
Have a good week
Hugs, Neet (right behind you) xx

Love the new look craft cave Jan. It's very cleansing when you have a good clear out isn't it? I've had to ring 999 several times over the years so know the adrenaline surge you get from it but It feels so good to be in the right place at the right time doesn't it?....our hero of the week I'd say.
Isn't it lovely to be part of this generous group Jan. Shaz is a star.

Wow, that is clean, neat and tidy! Your craft room must be a joy to work in! Gorgeous fabrics - and they're in the best of hands with someone who knows what to do with them! Lucky escape for the kayaker - you very possibly saved his life! Lots of charities make a difference in people's lives - but none as directly and instantaneously as the RNLI - no doubt about that! Have a lovely week, Jan! xx zsuzsa #18

Hi Jan, the JanCave is looking so organised and ready for action. The iron board tip is such a good one, especially for those of us who have back problems - that'll be me. Love the new fabrics, especially the one second from the left - the one with the poppy seed heads. Very nice. Congratulations on your fundraising - £200+ is admirable. As is your lifesaving tale - it was serendipitous that you & G to be there to phone the coastguard. Have fun colouring Shaz's houses and have a lovely week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #21

Hi Jan, I am so very impressed you put that room back to right in 2 hours. WOW :) and that makes total sense to me to put the ironing board up to counter height to not stoop to cut things. :) That guy was really lucky you all could place the call and that is fabulous the fund raising is going well too :) ~Stacy #24

The JanCave looks brilliant Jan, wonder how long it will stay that tidy lol? Well done with the RNLI fundraising, such an important institution indeed. Look forward to seeing the cards you make with Shaz's generous donation. Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #2

Your Jan cave is looking lovely and organised, I bet you're pleased to be back in it. You are doing a fantastic job for the RNLI and well done for spotting the kayaker in distress - a friend had to have her two young boys rescued at our local beach last summer - they were on a long sand bar or spit and the tide came in very fast and they were stranded on a small bit of the spit that was getting smaller and smaller by the minute - it was terrifying for her but the RNLI were amazing and truly deserving of all the help we can give them. Congratulations on the £200 mark being reached - I'm not surprised in the least as your goodies are such good quality and beautifully co-ordinated - you clever gal!
Hope you have a great week,
Hugs, Diana xx

Thoughtful of SHaz, that was, I know you’ll enjoy some quiet time and hidden painting talent with that lot. Still cant allow you to be modest about the 999 call...what if you’d just assumed he was messing about? Great call gal, that Chap will be forever grateful, I know. The Jan cave looks thoroughly neat and oh the light is lovely. Extension has cut off a lot of my light for now andI am starting to notice it as I visit other desks. It’s probably jealousy. Grand cracking £200, you should be very proud, thats a lot of money, its the constant drip of your work that powers the fundraising for these charities, be proud Gal!

Hi Jan.

The JanCave looks delightful - all bright and airy - hard to belive it was full of workmen's clobber just a couple of weeks ago!
Your comment about my ugly little doll really made me smile. It was the thing that made me rescue him/her from the charity shop in the first place - no-one else was going to do it!

The new Jan Cave Rocks!! It's absolutely gorgeous and the bright sunlight makes it even more of a joy. I love seeing those fabric samples. If only I could sew.
Shaz is the best! Can't wait to see your little houses painted up!
Pardon my ignorance but what is RNLI?
Thank goodness you saw the man in the water. We now have our very own WOYWW hero!
Have a blessed week my friend and enjoy your new space!

Awwww Jan, how utterly kind of Shaz she must be the most generous soul. Love your caves, it certainly looks really really spiffing...

Yes that kayaker and some boaties, swimmers, surfers, etc simply don’t know the power of water, wind and waves!
I’ve been swept out to sea when 13, and rescued by my brother, and one other time also but managed to mercifully swim with it and get out safely further down, bit of a hike though...
...and so know what it’s like to be caught out esp let alone undertow, etc.
And dear Jan two hundred pounds raised is certainly worth every cent of it.

Enjoy your colouring, I was sent a piece from US and I coloured it last night and made it into a card today.
Happy very belated WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #20
