NEVER NEED A REASON, NEVER NEED A RHYME
STEP IN TIME, YOU STEP IN TIME....

I have had a poorly knee this week so my activities have been slightly curtailed - hence the craftroom has been quite busy!

This was the desk a couple of days ago...Rhys got me some black and white spot material in Lee Mills fabric shop in Swansea the other day, so I got making some more glasses cases and little purses - I was also asked if I could make a fabric tiara for a little girl, so was experimenting with that too!

Much better lining! I've now used that fabric up, should have got more....

Playing nicely with various trims - I attached two straps with velcro so it could be adjusted. Hope it fits the bill!

I wanted to make something Mary Poppins related as our speaker in yesterday's meeting was a chimney sweep and we always have a related competition. So out came the felt, I cut out a pattern and set to...

The bag of felt pieces came in handy!

Bert the Chimney Sweep - not brilliant as I'm rubbish with faces, but it's something to enter, lol! Don't think I'll get anywhere with this but I did ok in the County WI competition held last weekend.

This photo (taken from the top of Snowdon) was to be used as a book cover for The Wild Places.

And I came third in the Computer generated poster for a book club! Our group did really well, coming third in the whole county - excellent as we're such a new WI.

Catriona also sent me some fabric in the mail which I've just realised I haven't shown..it was on FB. Thank you Catriona for thinking of me, the fabric will be in use really soon raising cash for the RNLI (£160 and counting)

Have a great week everyone!

Hi Jan, You'll have to get some more of the dot fabric, as it goes so well with the red fabric.

The tiara is fab. Sure the little girl will love it.

Bert the Chimney Sweep is fab. Lets hope he has a better English accent than Dick Van Dyke did:) LOL

Well done on your win and 3rd place for the WI competitions.

Also well done on the fab amount you have raised so far for the RNLI.

Congratulations on your WI wins, Jan - stunning stuff! A lady of many talents! I agree with you, the spotty material is the perfect lining for the doggy fabric. So cute! I think your little chimney sweep is just adorable, and his face looks suitably sooty. I love how you’ve made his brush out of net - that’s really clever. I could do with you to come and help me sort out my sewing machine which got resurrected again yesterday - how I regret the passing of my old one! If I used the new one regularly I’m sure it would be a lot better. Sorry to hear you’ve got a bad knee and I hope that recovers quickly.

Bert is great, love that he has undergarments!! It’s all in the detail. Your poor knee. Hope you can find ease, it’s all a bit badly timed! Congrats on your winnings, how marvellous that someone is seeing your stuff...love the styling on the poster, and the dagger so beautifully poised!

Thank you for your return visit, Jan - so glad you like our new wacky downstairs loo! I am looking forward to showing it off to our friends and seeing their reaction. We've got some people coming this evening so it will be fun. My old sewing machine was a Pfaff and was built like a tank. Over its 40-year lifespan it only had to be repaired once! Not a bad record. It did a LOT of sewing during that time. I miss it like crazy. I should make myself get over the hump with this one and really get familiar with it, so it doesn't fill me with dread!! Glad you like the framed picture. The dark green frame was ideal, and easy to set off with the pink and green matting and layering. I'm giving it to my friend today.

Where to start? That is the question. Hope the knee is improving each day. What did you do? Awful being in pain - and on the legs which hold us up it is not fun!
Love Bert the Sweep - I think his face is fine and he should have some smudges on his face with the job he does.
Congrats on the photography wins - you are so clever - has Mr LLJ been teaching you or do you just have a natural eye? Well done your WI too - that must have felt good coming third in the country.
Working back to the beginning, yes, the spotty fabric looks good - there will be many more sales down at the shop now.
The reason I booked the workshop (and other things which have been cancelled) is that it was something to look forward to. Sort of a goal to aim for. Just like the Crop was. Think it is about time I stopped. If I have heard nothing by the end of the week am going to go privately to see someone to try to hurry the process up.
Have a lovely week you gorgeous lady.
Hugs, Neet 2 xx

Oh that chimney sweep is fantastic. Love the glasses cases, I am looking at making some cases for fans as many Spanish carry their fans rather than put them in their bags because they are so delicate, so thought a fan case a good idea. Congratulations on your achievements for the WI. Ani #11

Hi Jan, hope your bad knee mends soon! I love Bert the chimney sweep - you always make lovely things! And well done on the photography wins. Great total raised for the RNLI - I'm doing the same with the cards at work, keeping a running total- makes it all seem more worthwhile when I know various charities are benefiting from my small contribution. Have a lovely week Heather xx #9

Hi Jan,
Well dear friend real commiserations on your knee, mine from my fall in March is finally on mend I hope! ... last week it was playing up. Am impressed that Rhys bough fabric for you, love the spotty dots too and the red black white terrier, lovely and how amazing all that money raised too for RNLI, brilliant plus the two wins, I love Snowden, really majestic.

Yess (you asked last week) I’m enjoying Le Tour .... and our little Aussie won another leg last night, watching tonight’s now but going to have to go to bed.
My brother (mad fellow that he is!) is again heading up the Aust. Bikestyle tours for Pyrenees and les Alpes (just realised haven’t read his FB post from yest.). Try not to read them till I’ve watched the recording so don’t know result. Been good in way having a cold and bung leg, I have an excuse to rest in front of TV it’s the most exciting Le Tour I’ve watched. Don’t you think? Mm perhaps Cadels win of Le Tour on second last leg in 2012 might have been better! 😊
Happy WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #24

Congrats on the competition awards. You have some great things going on in all of you photos again. Pat on the back for using up your fabric too ! I buy and it sits too long. Thanks for the visit, I could be lost in my storage area or hurt from totes falling on me and no one would know ! Just time to sell, donate most of it. My hope is to use it as another crafty space ! Don't tell.
Hope you have a cool down with no storms. Enjoy a great week.
