THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES...

I'm simply not going to comment on how quickly this last week has gone...so there!

The desk:
There's some new fabric nearest us - replacement sausage dog and then a new half metre of the Scottie dog...both off ebay. See that heap of yellow cotton tape? There's 25m of it but it doesn't look anything that much. I'm making a whole heap of bunting for the WI Barn dance in September, and thought I'd do it in odd moments.

Doggy related things seem to be the best sellers down in the cafe so I thought this was worth a shot. I've just remembered that I've got a grey with white hearts cotton somewhere, must dig it out as it'll be a great lining!

Another desk last week was the WI craft club:

A smaller group gathered to do decoupatch decoration on bottles..we had a good selection of wine/gin bottles of differing shapes. It was a hard job drinking the contents but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do ;-)  I only took two bottles for your information!! There was mod podge and napkins, so you chose what you liked and got gently ripping and sticking. This was Janet's example:

The 'cork' was attached to fairy lights in the bottle, it looked really sweet. I forgot to take a photo of mine, it's upstairs in the JanCave so will show you next week ) if I remember....!

I was out with different bands three times over the weekend, so instead of being a Brass Widower, G took himself off to the Wales Air Show in Swansea - he had a grand day, lots of amazing planes to watch but the favourites, as always, were the Red Arrows.

They always get such a great response..

Good pics huh? It's a happy coincidence that this week's topic in the 52 week photo challenge is Trains, Planes and Automobiles!!

Have a good week and keeeeeeep crafting :-)

Hi Jan, Lovely fabrics.

The bunting is coming along.

Love the look of the decoupatch bottles. Of course as you are tea total, you would have had to stand by a bottle bank and nabb a couple :) LOL

Your hubbys photos of the air show are fab. Surely he'll win top marks for them.

Happy Whizzday.

Two bottles of wine hee hee!! Your craft groups sounds better & better by the week, lovely way to decorate bottles with tissue, I love that stuff..! Cute little scottie & westie fabric, my Mom used to have a westie, he was so spoilt. Have fun with that bunting, I bet you've made miles and miles of it.
Thanks as always for sharing WoywW Tracey #8

We decoupaged large pickle jars at our final craft session until September. Love the yellow tape on the very bright bunting. Happy sewing!

fairy lights in bottles... I'm a fan of that! and wowzah, those photos are really nice (but I'm glad I can only SEE and don't have to HEAR the planes, it must have been a lot of noise!) Thanks for your comment on my blog (I saw it come flying in a minute ago...) Happy woyww and a hug from Holland. Marit #18

Hiya Jan, great photos from G. The Red Arrows were at Farnborough when we went, but weren't allowed to do any stunts, as it's all been banned here since that guy crashed on a main road.I'm guessing they were mainly over water, so they can do it there. Love the bottle decorating, look like a lot of fun. Glad to see you found some more of the doggy fabric! Love & hugs to you all, Shaz #7 XxXx

Hi Jan, love the fabric, especially the red Scottie dog one - you are going to get some great 'makes' out of that I'm sure. The wine bottle is beautiful - the napkins give a gorgeous effect - we've been doing something similar in my U3A group but not with napkins, we've been using die-cuts and alcohol inks.
I'm loving the Red Arrows photos - aren't they amazing to watch, G's captured them beautifully - I lvoe the red and blue going round the group of white one - spectacular.
Have a great week,
Hugs, Diana xx #19

The scottie dog fabric is excellent and love the red arrows. Would be interested to see your bottle - the fairy lights look great in empty bottles, but I have never seen them in decorated ones so would be lovely to see. Happy WOYWW. Have a lovely week. With love & God Bless, Caro x (#15)

Hi Jan, G's shots of the Red Arrows are fabulous - they're my heroes so thanks G 😀 The Scottie dog fabric is gorgeous and the grey/white fabric sounds the perfect lining. Glad you found the sausage dog fabric too. Looking forward to seeing your bottle - especially after the sacrifice you made to empty it. Have a wonderful week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #25

G's the best - love his photos, the red, white and blue pictures look fabulous!
So does the new doggy fabric - which will look lovely with the grey lining you talked about. Super makes ahead.
The bottle takes me back to a class I once did (well did it a few times really) where I partially covered bottle in clay. It was the air dry clay we used although at the time, I was very much into polymer clay,
You have some great stuff in the pipeline, hubby has some fab photos for us all to enjoy (and for competitions etc)
Hugs, Neet 5 xx

Lovely fabric collection. Great photos of the Red Arrows. I love them which is just as well but they are a bit off putting when you're driving round the Bypass at Lincoln and they fly over doing their practice runs. Some of the pilots used to come into school to talk to the children and you can imagine they loved it. We all got little red arrow plane badges as our house names were all based on the different air bases and mine was Scampton which is where the red arrows are based. Sadly they will probably have to move as they are selling the land at Scampton but as yet we do not know where they will end up. Wishing you a lovely week and a happy woyww, Angela x14x

I love the dog prints! Just adorable and I can see why they're so popular!
You all look like you're having fun with the bottles. Janet's is gorgeous!
And I love the photos of the Red Arrows! We live 40 miles from an Air Base and they (usually in groups of 2 or 3) fly over so fast in their training runs that by the time you hear them they're gone!
Thanks for popping by and have a great week!

Thanks for the visit, I'm catching up while he's out to a ball game enjoying wind and heat. LOVE your photos. Inspired to do that to some bottles I've saved as they were great shapes. Will post in a month or so !!!! Oh since I was small I've loved air shows. Dad loved them and we went. We have the BLUE ANGELS and somewhat the same techniques. Always lot to see a group of gals have fun together. Thanks for sharing great photos.

Brill photos of the Red Arrows by G. They flew over us recently on the way to or from an air show but of course minus the tail smoke. Love the Scotty Dog fabric, I am sure it will be a best seller. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

Very cool photos of the planes! We have the "Snowbirds" here in Canada. Your scottie dog fabric is too cute - I'm sure whatever you make with it will be a best-seller! Nice to have a group of gals to meet and have fun together, I love the idea of putting fairy lights in the bottle! Have a great week! Thanks for your visit, Lindart #24

Sorry to be so late. Good grief, I’m not going to comment on how fast it comes either. Or goes! Fab pics of the red arrows, makes me a bit giddy just looking at them...am fairly certain that holding my head back to watch them in the skies would make stagger a bit too...those coloured con trails! Nice fabric choice...interesting that it’s dogs that win the popularity, bet cats are a very close second though. That great potential know of yellow tape does not look like 25m, but it does look like quite a lot of work up coming. You are keeping count of the number of metres you do aren’t you?

Happy belated WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #20
