OLD WHITE OAK TREE LAYIN' SHADE ON ME
PICKING BLACKBERRIES OFF THE VINE....

Whizzy whizz whizz goes another week! More rehearsing for the WI sketch (those gals can sure put away some gin....!) etc etc.

But I have been busy with crafting too!

The felt is out again so it can only mean one thing - Christmas decorations!!  For a WI stall at the town Fair in November - I know it's early but I need them done and out of the way!

The old faithful templates!  The snowman one doubles up as a penguin too :-D

I've made a start on the embroidery bit and shall add the beads on whilst watching TV in the evenings, then blanket stitch them together.  I quite enjoy embroidery, simple though this is and am definitely going to make a start on the sashiko after these have been finished.

Short and sweet this week!  Two pics to show you of some impulse buys before I say farewell - there are some great galleries in Carmarthen and we saw some new work by a favourite photographer of ours - Georgina Hughes (for website, see here)  We already have one pic in our bedroom and spotted these in the gallery window.....

Entitled "My Grandmother's Blossom Tree" . Her photos always tell a tale so the lizard brooch and enamel trinket box probably belonged to her Grandma. The photos are like still life paintings I think, the quality of light is astonishing. G says the control of light levels and depth of field are really tricky and he'd love to know how she does it!!

But this is the one that first caught our eye:

"Blackberry Time in the Garden"  It's the sort of picture that you can see new things each time you look at it - the blackberries look like you could pick them out of the frame.

Both pics are in our kitchen where we can see them every day - makes me very happy indeed!

Have a great crafty week, lovely gals - see you soon xxxxxxx

Happy WOYWW. Gorgeous photos. People are clever. This year we actually have family coming to stay at Christmas (but not for lunch on the actual day - me and hubby will either go to a local hotel for their 7 course feast, or stay at home in front of the fire), but I am not getting in a festive mood at all yet. I am not planning any festive crafting, apart from a few painted rocks. Making my life as easy as possible. We are off to Spain early on Saturday morning - 11 nights. Will be in touch when we get back to finally arrange to meet up. Ali x #18

Playing catch up, for your posts the last 3 wks, can't believe I've missed so many. Commented way back and will say love the bright colors in last week. That Clown hat is adorable. You keep busy with such fun varieties. Here the 2 framed photos are gorgeous. Happy WOYWW and have a fun week.

The photographs are very cleverly done. My husband used to teach photography and I'm sure he'll have some comment to make about them. Have a lovely woyww, whatever you choose to do. Angela x13x

Hi Jan! Sorry I didn't get back to you last week, so you are first on my list this week! I remember making little Christmas Decorations like the felt hearts you are making - lovely! And your new photo for your kitchen are breathtaking - she has a real knack! Have a great week, Lindart #23

Oh my Jan if you had not said those pictures where photographs I would have guessed they were oil on canvas, the depth is magnificent indeed giving the illusion that you can almost imagine something else hidden within it's darkness, amazing quality. Have fun with the felt, it sure does make great Christmas ornaments, a firm tree favourite for me.

Ooh those photographs are stunning, and I am completely captivated by the blackberry one, it's just heavenly - I love hydrangeas too and remember the beautiful one you bought for your bedroom wall. What a talented lady she is.
Enjoy your embroidery, I'm currently crocheting sleeping mats for homeless people out of cut up charity donation bags - I had to stop in the summer as handling the plastic was too hot - but I'm back doing it now and it feels good doing something useful while slobbing in front of the TV!
Have a great week,

Well Diana has reacted in just the manner we discussed! I see totally what you mean about the blackberries and am a bit jealous that you have wall room for such beauties. Oh I so get it about the want to do it and the need to get it out of the way. Am starting to panic about oh so many things!! Can’t wait till Monday!

Hi Jan, I can fully understand why you fell in love with the photos, they are stunning, and you have very cleverly given me an idea of a present for Mr M for Christmas! He likes his photography, and sometimes I see photos he has taken that I wouldn't mind putting on a wall, so I may just get some framed for him, or is it for me... lol. Well done on starting the Christmas decorations. Have a lovely week Heather x #27

Those photos are indeed stunning... reminds me of the old, Dutch still-life painters indeed! I'm not into embroidery or sashiko at the moment, the weather is way to nice to be inside and sit still - there will be windy and rainy days to come that I can sit down and start working on my jean jacket later on... Thanks for your visit to my blog the other day, I'm pretty late with my round again but hey, at least I made it before Wednesday ;) so happy woyww and a hug from Holland, Marit #11

Lovely pictures, can see why you like them and had to have them. Gordon can look at them and work out about the depth of light etc. I am still impressed by his photography though.
Sorry I am so late - had a mixed week, so thanks for commenting on my blog and for the lovely comment on my tribute. Wednesday was such a sad day as I spent time with a friend at the hospice - he died early this morning and I am so glad I got more time with him last night.
It's lovely sat here today seeing the sunlight dappling through the trees whilst I play catch up. Hope it is nice in Wales.
Hugs, Neet 9 xx
