SEND IN THE CLOWNS.....

Another super speedy week full of all sorts of fun has just whizzed by - at least it all keeps me on my toes!

And crafting has taken place too - woohoo!!

I really need to sort out my ribbons was the first thought when I saw this pic...what a tip. I made four drawstring bags to send to my brother Steve who is going to try and sell them for me to raise funds for the RNLI. The bunting is for the new grandson of Christine Bishopsmate, who asked me at the Crop if I could make some for her. It's in the post Christine! Obviously I don't want to show the whole thing until it's been received....

But I think showing the top flag would be ok! I've had good use out of that lighthouses FQ which was from Hobbycraft.

You get a twofer of desk shots today!

It's a long story that I shan't bore you with but I had to make a clown's hat based on a man's bowler that I acquired years ago (from a friend, I didn't hijack some city gent!!) As it's a quality titfer (I do love that word) I didn't want to poke holes in it or sew into it. Anyhow, I dug out my scraps and covered the crown, then sewed fabric around the rim:

It was fair bit of trial and error! I thought the bright green felt band would be useful for sewing things onto....like pompoms!

Et voila! That kept me amused for an afternoon and, more importantly, the lady who will be wearing it in the WI Sketch was very pleased!  The object behind is a feather boa covered boat steering wheel for my role as a bus driver in the same sketch! The things I get involved in.........

Bet you didn't expect to see THAT on my desk today, lol :-D

Have a great week!!

Hi Jan, Love the colourful clowns hat. Your steering wheel is intriguing. The banner looks great and that's just the one piece, so the whole thing will be fab.

The hat is seriously fabulous. But it was the feather boa covered steering wheel that made me howl....coming just before the explanation as to why, I pictured this in your car!! When you’ve sorted the ribbon box, it’ll be half empty I reckon and I know someone with more than she could use in a lifetime. WIll top it up next time I visit, like it or not!!

Oh Jan - the things we crafters get asked to do - and love every minute of doing, even if it's trial and error! What a fab job you made of the hat and I can't wait to see photos of your feather boa in action!

You and I certainly share the same taste in fabric and buttons. The hat is wonderful-you are very patient as well as imaginative. Like Annie above, I oftenhave trouble loading a comment from my ipad.

Happy WOYWW - and you are showing off some wonderful creativity again. I have only just remembered that in an earlier comment you mentioned meeting up. I will go back and look for that, and then get back to you later when I manage to sit down again. I love that lighthouse fabric. Not been to Hobbycraft for years. Perhaps we can have a joint trip there some time. Ali x #16

Hope we see some photos of your bus driving and the clown lady - love that hat - you are so good at making things - anything! And you are reaching out to papercrafting too although none at the moment.
Love that bunting - the lighthouse is fabulous and against the white background it all looks so good - can't wait to see it all.
Hugs, Neet 7 xx
ps a pipe joint leaking in the loft. Just had another builder here (who is repairing the roof ridge tile that came off (in the pouring rain) to give us an estimate for the ceiling repairing and skimming (it is heavy wallpaper not artex as we thought so impossible to match up). It never rains but it pours - and it is pouring down with rain right now.
