IT'LL BE JUST LIKE STARTING OVER

Hi there - the first post of a brand new year! Hope it's going to be a good 'un....the year that is, though hopefully the blog will be ok too :-D

There's not much to show you so this is going to be quite short...

This really has to be a job for this week - putting Christmas stuff away, tidying up my ribbon box before it gets packed (sorry Shaz!) and generally getting ready for the move to Wales. We don't have a date yet but hopefully it won't be too long - I'm getting itchy feet now!

The crochet blanket is coming along ok, I spread it out for you to see. The pile of fabric in front of the sewing machine was an impulse buy in the sales during an impromptu hour in Salisbury with Julia.

The rose and leaves fabric were £5 a metre but the grey hearts was £3, so I bought two metres of it! It was really wide too so I'll get lots out of that (I might even make a tablecloth for my very wide dining table instead...watch this space!)

But nothing is going to get sewn in the next couple of weeks, that's for sure. I'll let you know when I'm going to disappear for a month or so - packing, moving, swapping interwebs etc etc means I'll be out of your hair for a while :-D

Have a great week everyone, I may be late returning comments as I'm out visiting today.

I am liking that sale splurge of material! Hope you have chosen the site of your new home based on the available fabric shops nearby!! Looking forward to hearing when you've got a date and are finally on the move to your new home; fingers crossed! Helen #?

Beautiful fabrics Jan and your crochet is coming along nicely too.
Fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long for a moving date as it must be frustrating knowing that it is going to happen but not knowing when.
Thinking of you.

awesome fabrics! I tend to buy everything I can on sale but recently found that businesses aren't putting as much on sale...I think the government changes that are coming are putting everyone off recently. Love the bright colors in the crochet blanket! Wales...WOW! I loved it when I visited there but was cold all the time. Happy New Year! Vickie #12

Such an exciting time ahead for you Jan but please don't wait til all the boxes are empty before you return to the fold....we spent this week emptying a few more boxes 2 1/2 years after our move!!! Love the new fabrics....I'd have been tempted too at that price.
Hugs,

Happy New Year, Jan. What excitement in your household now the year has started - you can begin to think about your permanent move. Fantastic! Trust it won't be too long now. Happy packing going on I'm sure. I was showing a new-to-crafting friend some blogs this week and read yours back a few entries. I was so touched that you posted about the little gingerbread house. My friend was thrilled to see it "out there"!!!
Take care. God bless you both.

The best buys are the impulse buys - things you didn't even know you needed, but you do! Snap them up when you can! Crocheting that blanket would have taken me 20 years - at least! Coming along nicely! I'm so not looking forward to you being out of my hair! Exciting times ahead for you! Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long. Happy 2017! zsuzsa #25

Right will try again my computer just shut down on me. You are so lucky to have fabric and craft material shops on your doorstep. I don't envy you packing all your materials up for your move, remember when I made the move to Spain it took me ages to decide what to take and what to ditch, then I got it wrong, but it was fun unpacking and finding a new home for everything.

Beautiful materials! I love cottons to sew with, I have a large amount of material from Africa but sadly it's not cotton.
I think I will have a new house when I am finished with all this decorating!!!
Have a good week

The afghan is looking very nice, warm and cozy. What makes something an afghan versus a crocheted blanket? Is that a question best left alone? Why is the sky blue? Your impulse buys will be fun to create with. You have a good eye for matching colors and patterns. Hopefully the move will happen soon! PJ #33

Where oh where in Wales are you going to? I visited Mum over Christmas (not been back in over 2 years) we popped out to the nursing home at Three Cliffs to visit her sister-in-law - so sad. Mum lives in the Mayals, Swansea. Oh dear reminiscing now...... Happy WOYWW and Happy New Year BJ#12

I hope you get some dates sorted soon. I think the waiting is the hardest part. Well, packing isn't easy either lol. Love the new fabric. Hopefully you'll get to 'play' with it soon. I couldn't hook up on Wednesday as we were moving my daughter to cold, cold Minnesota! Hope to be back crafting this week

Missed you in this weeks WOYWW, want you to have a successful move and a quick settling in. How far away is Wales? Do you have an apt/home already picked out? Also a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours. We are having Ice, Wind, Snow and now bitter cold. So glad I can stay in and enjoy whatever I want. Best Wishes to You.
