WOYWW 173

EVERY BIT HAS ITS TIME,
TOO MANY PIECES TO KEEP OVER.
WITH EVERY SHAPE AND DESIGN THAT WON'T FIT IN...

I have to own up...I had to google for an apt lyric but it's very appropriate to accompany what's on my desk this week. Before I show you, it's confession time.....

I consider myself to be a generous person in terms of giving time, love, prezzies etc, but when it comes to crafting, I'm as tight as a duck's whatsit....Scroogier than the meanest Ebeneezer...you get my drift!

When I'm cutting out fabric and the tiniest little offcuts are hanging around, why is it that I can't chuck them away?? I know I'm never going to make bijoux little pretty things with the scraps, but still I hang on to all the bits. They gather in a bag until it's overflowing....

There was an autumnal 'Keep Warm' theme for my craft stall last weekend and I decided to make a couple of doggy draught excluders - don't worry, no animals were harmed in the course of crafting.... *grin* And all those little scraps went in the stuffing!!! *Happy dance* How sad am I ??

Other things on the desk....

Attaching the loop onto a carrier bag holder...

Finished the Bling Bin for the WOYWW crop...

Made some beady bits for the craft stalls coming up... who says 'Blue and Green should never be seen'?? Not me, I love that colour combination, like the sea in a Cornish cove...

Some mobile phone charms...

I am blessed with my friends! Old or new, virtual or 'real', I cherish each one. Their generosity is just wonderful...Lisa Jane sent me this GORGEOUS album - every page is sewing related with lots of space for journalling, piccies etc etc

Luscious colours and patterns....I love it all :D

The little scissors..and the bunting...and the bee..and the buttons...and......!!

Each page is filled with goodies, it's as pretty as a picture. Thank you Lisa Jane, I LOVE it!!

And this gift is from my dear friend, Suzie, whom I'm fortunate to work with in school.
It says it all, doesn't it? I'm one very lucky gal....

Kerrrr-rap! I finally have time to visit people from last WOYWW and I'm encountering posts from this WOYWW. It isn't even Wednesday in my neck of the desert yet. Heck, it isn't even time to go home yet here.

And who the heck says blue and green should never been seen?!?!?!!! It had to be a blind man as nature is chock full of blue and green. Ah...well. I had a friend tell me once she didn't think green and brown looked right together and I told her not to tell the trees that. LOVE the blues and the greens TOGETHER.

Fun journal, we'll have to see what great things you do with it. Happy WOYWW in the future.

I simply ♥ that fabric. I bought some a few years ago and made cushions for my son and his doggy loving friend. I backed it with a paw print fleece! Imagine my horror when I visited said doggy loving friend to find her dog SITTING ON MY CUSHION. How very dare he?

You have been a lucky lady but I'm sure you deserve it!

Well done for using the scraps up! Love your blingy bin, that is something else! I love blue and green together too, it reminds me of the ocean and your necklace and charms are looking good. It is so nice to get happy mail, you must have been so delighted when the little album turned up and the heart from your friend really does say it all........Happy WOyWW, Anne x #65

What lovely gifts you have received and what lovely things you make.
I need to sew more as I want to collect little bits of fabric just like the ones you used for stuffing so that I can incorporate them in my free machining (don't ask, I am new to all of this but my friends taught me to make things with tiny scraps that were cut into even tinier ones).

Thanks for all this share - love your work. Hugs, Neet xx #5

My Nan used to say "Blue and green shouldn't be seen" but I also think it's a lovely combination. Every time I use it I think of my Nan, she was my best friend ever and I miss her. Friends are what makes the world a better place. Keep them close and hope to never lose them. Karen x

It's very hard to throw away things when you know that at some point you will be able to use them, and frankly that's so much better than tossing them into the land dumps, isn't it? We scrap hoarders are doing our bit for the world!! That's my stand and I'm sticking to it! lol waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

Hello soul sister (from Club 51) your desk is FULL of the most delicious eye candy to me! Where to begin! First of all, I have baskets of fabric leftovers from various things that no one could dare pull out of my greedy grips. Yet where do the bits stay? In the baskets, of course. Let's make ourselves a vow to make something from these bits for each other--maybe a fabric ATC even. And oh how I love blue and green together! That creation that looks like it attaches to a desk is GORGEOUS!! Hugs to you dearest. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh at #11

You really have some lovely things to show us this week. I would not be able to let those blue and green beads go, they are so pretty. And I love that little heart, the sentiment is perfect. Thank you for your visit today and kind comments. They do mean a lot to me. I am hoping that as the weather heads downwards for winter, I will, at least, have more time to keep in touch. Have a good week. xx Maggie #100

That dog themed door draft stopper is great. I hope you sold a lot of them!

I get an awful draft in my craft room. It comes in under the laundry room door (which adjoins my room). I use a knitted draft stopper that my MIL made. She was a war bride from Filey and moved to join my FIL here in Canada.

It is very old now, but I treasure it. She was a thrifty lady who taught me how to stretch my pennies when I was a young stay at home Mum.

Hi there Lunch lady Jan - well here we are again.. and so clever to use those scraps up on your sausage for the door draughts!! do love them myself - we used sand or sawdust in the old days but rather like your scraps as more washable then. I do love those hone charms too Thanks so much for sharing ~ happy WOYWW! Shaz in Oz. x #21

You are one clever lady LLJ using all those scraps. Love the beading and I think you must also be very patient or have amazing eyesight as there is no way I could thread all those beads. That is why I am a glue it down kind of gal! Thrilled that you like the canvas.

I didn't join in this week ...seemed to loose a day and now its Thursday!!! ...Love all your creations ...practical and pretty. Had to smile at the blue and green bit...it brought back memories of the amazing cocktail dress I bought when I was 17. My mums mouth fell open as she muttered 'blue and green ....never' ...'I knew I should have gone with you'
I loved it and just retorted that the designer of the material must have thought it was fine lol.xx

Oooh, what gems to enjoy snooping on this week. I'm just the same and cannot waste anything at all and think it's because, born at the end of WW2, I grew up on rationing so nothing was ever wasted.

I feel kinda famous now! Loving all the things on your desk, especially that blingy bin which sadly I now won't see in real life. I am so totally in bits but I have just received notification of my first lecture and of course it would be the day that I want to be in about 3 other places. This is me who rarely has anything on. Typical :-(

RosA said...

Oh yes, I know about keeping every single little scrap! Be it fabric, paper, ribbons, wool etc, etc, etc. I now force myself to pass on all the little paper scraps to my friend's granddaugher (5) who is very artistic and loves getting them. But I still have the fabric scraps, oh dear!
Thanks for your kind words re. my canvas capers. Happy late WOYWW!

RosA said...

Forget to say, I LOVE the little bag with the bling! No such thing as too much bling :)

Hi Jan, your collection of scraps only differs from mine in that it is fabric and mine is paper - I think we must be twins separated by miles :) You could make collages with your bits and bobs, or teeny-weeny patchworks for card toppers or ... well, maybe not.

My mum always said red and green should not be seen except on an Irish colleen which means I've never had a problem putting blue and green together and when it looks as nice as your beads, why not? I like your mobile phone thingies too - I think they will be snapped up.

Lovely album from Lisa Jane - I love all the embellies too - and the message on the heart is, well, heartwarming :)

Have a great weekend. Elizabeth x #77
