WOYWW 759

WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS

AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here we are, the final WOYWW before the big day - that came around rather speedily didn't it? It's been a week of ups (Owen coming home and some nice meals out) and downs (me getting a humdinger of a cold, the first this year...drat)

I haven't been doing much in the JanCave either because of this:

Our Crib tournament continues and Owen is up 6-4 at the time of writing! I don't know, you teach your kids to play these games and they up and whupp your behind..... This was a lunchtime game during Owen's break from his work.

Before he took over the JanCave however I had a sort out of some crochet squares I've been doing to use up odds and ends of my yarn stash:

I sewed the strips together over a couple of days to make a square throw/blanket for the family centre in town and here is the finished item!

Nice and colourful!

Cindy sent me a box of fabric:

So kind of you Cindy, thank you very much indeed, there's lots that will be very useful especially that long length of the black and white spot, perfect for linings!  You are so kind xxxx

Cindy sent me a lovely decoration and beautiful card which has taken its place in my gallery in the hall:

I know postage is costly these days but I ADORE getting Christmas cards and love putting them up like this - I look at them every day and really appreciate the thought behind them.

So the last thing to do is thank you all for another amazing year of crafty love, support and fun - I appreciate every comment, email, messages and sharing.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, whatever your plans are....
And we wish you all a Merry Christmas - here's to a Happy, Healthy and Fun Filled 2024 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Happy Christmas to you and yours too, Jan, may you get back at Owen in the cribbage tournament... Lovely to see your cards all stuck to the door. I agree, it's lovely to get them in the post. The blanket looks great under your wreath and festive candle. Happy WOYWW - here's to next year's desks!! Helen #2

Sorry to hear you have a cold, stonking colds are not what you want - at Christmas time especially.
Reading your post it reminded me of Harry Potter, everytime i read 'cribbage tournament' I thought of the two of you flying around on broomsticks. Not witchy ones, but Harry ones. Anyway, it will be interesting to know the winner at the end of the tournament - do tell please.
Such a lovely warm Christmassy post Jan, may I wish you and yours a lovely Happy Christmas.
Tons of Hugs, Neet xx 3

Happy WOYWW - and Merry Christmas to you all. How lovely to have Owen back home for the holidays. I do not have much card games experience and never tried Cribbage. Will have to do some research and see if Rich will try it with me. Wonderful to see your cards displayed and all the gnomes. My two are in our living room fireplace - with my other Christmas Cuddlies for company. Ali x #13

Clever Neet! I never noticed the similarity between quidditch and cribbage till Neet said. I can just see you all flying round Pembrey Mountain! It’s so kind of you to let number 1 son win a little!
I do hope your cold goes away quickly. Keep warm and drink lots of honey, lemon and ginger, that’s my recipe.
Your crochet square blanket is beautiful, such gorgeous colours. I like Cindy’s happy post. That’s a good lot of fabric.
There’s a ‘Dancing in Tetuan’ Cd of Joglaresa on its way to you. I thought it was the only duplicate but no sooner had I posted it than I found another. Some of them are in those thin cardboard sleeves that are easily missed. I’ll send it after Xmas now.
I wish you, Gordon, Rhys and Owen the best of Xmas and a happy and healthy new year.
Hugs

Hi Jan, I hope you get over the worst of your cold before Christmas - it's probably that that's affecting your cribbage performance! The blanket is beautiful and what a wonderful lot of fabric from Cindy - must have felt like Christmas had come early. I love your displays, I have to agree with you that it's lovley getting cards through the post, and thank you so much for the beautiful one you sent me. It's so nice to be dipping my toe back in the WOYWW water - my nephew is completely recovered now but similar is happening to my brother in law - we seem to spend our life waiting on results at the moment - I don't think the tension is conducive to being creative!
I do hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year with your lovely family, and also get to thrash them at cribbage!

Oh your stunning little collections of trees and gnomes - just fab. Love it. And the crochet squares are so cheery and colourful you can't help but smile. I used to love cribbage but it has been years since I played - I do have a board someplace. Enjoy! With luck you will soon be up 8-6
:D
Happy Christmas WOYWW!

I miss playing cards, I used to play a lot when I was younger, not so much now for some reason. It must be very nice to have Owen home, even if it means giving up the Jan Cave. The things we do for our kids! That patchwork blanket is awesome! I love the collection of Christmas trees and Gnomes. I have collections of Nutcrackers and snowmen! And your Gallery is spectacular! Merry Christmas, Lindart #20

I'm late calling in cos I had a surprise customer this morning who wanted 7 memory bears making before Christmas!!! Hense I've been head down sewing all day and hope to finish them off tomorrow as I am out tonight at Sam's singing concert [He's singing a duet with a little 9 yr old little girl so will be taking my tissues ].
I'm doing a flying visit today to wish everyone a very happy Christmas. Hope to 'see' you all after the festivities.

I'm a bit late getting round today as we've been to pick up hubbies new car. I am pleased to see that some people still send cards. It worries me when I don't get one from people we don't see very often, guess it's a sign of age when you start to lose old friends. Sorry to be a bit morbid there. Loving your Gnome collection. Wishing you a very happy woyww Christmas. Hugs Angela x11x

That is the most scrumptious crochet square blanket EVER. The colours are so vibrant. Sorry to hear of the cold, hope you feel better soon, I'm sure Owen has helped cheer you up, mine is home Friday, he turns 25yrs Thursday too. Whoop Whoop! I got the Cindy snowflake card too, it's a stunner isn't it. Adore your tree and gnome displays. I so need to make myself a gnome! Hugs and have a super Christmastime. BJ#17

Oh dear, so sorry that it developed into a cold, horrid for you. Owen (looking more and more like his Dad) is a smiley tonic isn't he, and oh my, you have it bad when you're competing at lunch times!! Love the forest, as beautiful as ever, and I'm not sure what the collective noun for gnomes is, but I love the collective! Massive love to you all for a lovely Christmas xxxx

LOVE! the hall gallery! I could possibly make the squares, tho it might take me a life time to figure out how to put them together! Here's to a joyous season of light and another year of digital friendship. Robyn 4

Lovely to have Owen home, though cribbage at lunch time does sound a bit obsessive! I'm sure he's only beating you because you are under par, hope you are fighting fit for Christmas. Your post as always is so bright and cheerful - the colours in that blanket are brilliant. Love your card display and I love getting cards as well. I will deliver your squidge to little man as soon as I can - haven't seen him for a few days!! Enjoy the festivities, and see you next week!! Merry Christmas, love n hugs Cindyxx #10
