 THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE GNOME....

To those of you who guessed last week that I wasn't making a carrot coat but a gnome hat, well you were nearly right, it was a body! I found a really easy tutorial which only used four pieces and decided to make a few little friends for the craft fair!

It was carnage on the workdesk, that blooming fur fabric got everywhere! Perfect for little beards though you had to make sure the nap of the fabric was going the right way or else they'd look like a wind had turned them upside down. You also had to cut with tiny little snips to get a 'natural' effect rather than going the full Brazilian!!

A bag of pompoms in Christmassy colours arrived and I set to.

My friend Kim lent me this metal stand which was awesome for displaying them well:

Fun huh?  I thought I'd make a couple with Welsh flag hats as a Gnome is for Life, not just Christmas!

They just make me smile - they have definite characters too.

And this is what the stall looked like on the day:

The shonky weather meant the footfall could have been better but I took £152 so was pleased with that - all for the RNLI of course. I made three sales afterwards as well so that's gone up to £167.

But once you have the gnomes, they're hard to escape entirely:

The few that are left are now on a shelf in the JanCave - I feel as if I'm being judged, lolol!! Hopefully some more will find homes before long xx

I have done other bits and pieces after sorting out and putting away all the fair stuff:

I cut into one of the new fabrics and paired it with this cheerful apple green.

It's cute fabric - there are storybook characters in the design and I really love the bright and cheerful colourway. I don't know if this one will be popular but I don't care really, I got 4 each of folding shopping bags, purses and glasses case out of £4 worth of fabric. Result!

I'll try to stay away from anything gnome related next week - hope you have a good one!!

the gnomes look amazing, shame the sales weren't as much as you hoped, but still pretty good! I love them lined up on your shelf! Happy WOYWW Helen #5

Those gnomes are outstanding. Bet they sold like hotcakes. What a fab stand and you are def. the Queen of Charity Sewing. Well done on that daily total. I am amazed at how you make £4 of fabric stretch for miles...
Flying visit before knitting…

Still giggling at the thought of a gnome with a Brazilian!! It's credit to you that you made sure the fabric was the right way round, not everyone would. I was in Dunelm yesterday and there was a lamp for a candle with cut out Micky mouse head shapes all around it...every one was upside down. Crackers production. I like your gnome judging panel...all they need is little numbered paddles!! Am in Yorkshire supporting Aunty Sue since Uncle Ray died, not unexpectedly but rather sooner. Weathers a bit mucky, but otherwise all ok.

I am wearing my new jumper🤣🤗. You are so amazingly generous with your time and your money. Love the gnomes. Great little decorations. I am sure they approve of everything they see you do! There is so much you can do with such a simple design, witches hats for instance, I am sure adding a brim would be no problem for you, add a couple of googly eyes. I’ll stop before I get carried away 🤣🤣. Happy WOYWW. Angela #12

Your gnomes were the stars of your sale, just brilliant, even without Brazilians 🤣😂. I wonder if smaller ones with a loop at the top would sell as Xmas tree decorations? I don’t know how heavy they are. I love the Welsh flag ‘gnomes for life’ ones. Well done you for raising over £160 for the RNLI. They must bless the day you moved back to BP.
The new fabric looks very cheery with that apple green, as well.
I’m due to go to my art class tomorrow so I’m crossing fingers that the storm isn't too bad. I hope it misses S. Wales as well. Stay safe.
Take care and happy WOYWW

That fabric is perfect with the green spotted one. It really echoes the green in the pattern.
Love the gnomes. I bet the Welsh ones go down a storm in the RNLI shop. I think these gonky gnomes as I call them are definitely something for life and not just for Christmas but you cannot resist looking at the Christmas ones as the fabric is just fabulous.
Well done on your stall, it looks magnificent, just wish the day had been better weatherwise and you had had more footfall.
You are a star!

I've just been too busy to post today Jan. We set up a fab display of Tilly's artwork at Craven Arms. It stays up until January so we should get all Christmas Fair sales - fingers crossed! Your little gnomes are fun and you made me chuckle with your full Brazilian comment 🤣The fabrics are so gorgeous. If you have an idea for a free machine collage let me know. Maybe flowers or a little cottage etc. Not long now😀 x x Jo

Hi Jan, I'm here at last! As usual the boiler man didn't arrive until lunchtime and then I had to keep the dogs busy while hubby looked after him. By the time that was over and I caught up with a few other jobs it was evening, don't know where the time goes. I am loving your Gnomes and quite surprised you came back with so many. Well done with the profits, I'm sure the RNLI will be pleased. Wishing you a late but happy woyww. Hugs Angela x10x

Thanks for your visit earlier, the trip out yesterday has certainly helped to settle my mind down a bit. In retrospect I think I should have just sat there and made a nuisance of myself until they had to arrange something!! lol
Adoring those gnomes . . . .
Super pairing of materials with the storybook fabric.
Have a good week
