 BAND ON THE RUN....

Another week has just turned up and whooshed away! We've been out and about, catching up with friends, taking the car to the garage (Booo....Hisss...new clutch = second mortgage to pay for it...) but I give thanks for our happy and content life every single blooming day.

I've been finishing off some items to get ready for the craft fair on the 29th October:

The Welsh flags fabric has now been used up as have two of the recent purchases:

Very different but both pretty! I found a tutorial for a twist front headband - something else for the stall that's quick to run up.

This mermaid fabric was the only stretch one I had and you can't really see the twist but this was so quick to make, it almost took longer to cut out the fabric. I have some more stretchy prints on order from PoundFabrics to make a few more! I also used up some more silk to make scrunchies:

Strips on the left, scrunchies on the right!

Kim and I went to a craft afternoon hosted by my friend Sue - we did paper engineering cards, it made my brain hurt but I brought home the instructions to have another go. Sue had laid everything out brilliantly:

Just papers, scalpels and glue...plus lots of nattering!!

I don't think I made very good colour choices but I've got the idea now and will have another go!

We have bird feeders in our garden which attract mostly sparrows - we're ok with that, they're comical little birds who make us laugh with their antics. However they also attract:

A beautiful sparrowhawk! We've caught glimpses before but today it sat on our fence for a good 15 minutes having come out of the shrub where the sparrows like to be. You wouldn't want to be on the end of that stare eh? (Fab pic taken by G)

Hope you've all had a good week and have been enjoying your crafting. Big hugs to you all xxxxx

the "engineering" went well.. I've never attempted intricacies like that. good on ya!
Love the photo of the sparrowhawk.. and the hairbands are great - but my hair is too short to need one. Happy WOYWW Helen #4

Now I'll be singing that song all day. Love the hawk photo your husband took. He sure knows his camera.

I will never need a scrunchy. I don't let my hair get over 1 inch long, except in the bangs area. They will sell well, I suspect.

Goodness. That is a LOT of paper engineering. I was impressed by the cards you made, but they sure look too involved for me. You have a lot more patience than I, apparently. Happy WOYWW from # 2.

Happy WOYWW. Wonderful photo by G, as always. Amazing it sat there for that long. We generally only see birds of prey sitting on top of telegraph poles around here. One used to attack cyclists as they went along the road! On Sunday, whilst pedaling along a very quiet road in the moorland near St Davids, I did see a large bird swooping about, but couldn't identify it. I love all of the fabrics you are using. Ali x #11

Lovely sewing projects as always Jan...and gorgeous fabric choices. That sparrow hawk pic is stunning....well done G. We have one occasionally that drops in for a snack because we have lots of sparrows at our feeders too.

That is a fabulous photograph of the sparrowhawk, I have only been privileged to photograph the back of one as it sat on the hedge outside my craft room. My phone was near so I grabbed it, but the results were rubbish. Great card craft. Good luck with your craft sale. I have to admit a song started in my head when I read strips to the left, scrunchies to the right - stuck in the middle with you 🤣🤣

Such a great sparrowhawk photo from Gordon, Jan. You’re right, definitely not a stare you’d want to have directed at you! Great sewing items for your stall, Jan. So good to see the silk in use. That sunflower fabric’s really striking and the hair bands are great. Sorry to hear you had to fork out for a new clutch; our MOT is next week.
Take care and happy WOYWW

That paper engineering is similar to one I did last year. Took me ages to make the sheet of instructions from watching someone do it on video. Clever you making it!
Love the twist front headbands, wish I didn't look such a doobie in them. Gorgeous pattern on the fabric. All your fabrics are gorgeous, you have the eye for choosing the best ones.
Gosh that photo of the sparrowhawk is fantastic! Did G take it? Wouldn't like to be on the end of that beak, never mind the stare.
Hope you have got over the shock of the car repair (we had a shocker too)

Oh my! That sparrowhawk has a look just like Poppy when she is getting ready to strike! LOL. I got a whole pack of cards from maybe QVC years ago and they were all 3d or interactive. I always thought I would save one of each to make my own versions but when that big Xmas holiday rolls around it is all about easy and speed for mass card making. Lots of lovely fabric as ever, and such useful items. Those sunflowers are WOW.

Happy WOYWW Day!

Oh I LOVE that bird, we have them off and on, He has 3 bird baths and all get used. Adorable little Wrens and they are about to leave us for warmer climate. We will have many passing thru for a few hrs or overnight enjoying the green grass, bugs and baths So many species, I love it.
And repairs suck...he had 4 trips to the tractor shop and the $$$$$ almost doubled for parts/oil etc. My car battery went dead, was on a charger and only a year old. Worries me to go to far away. I need to use it more I guess, bust so much road construction I hate to get messed up with it.
Great colorful pieces you have shared And always fun to get together for craft playing Have a great weekend.

That is a great photo by G. Great gift collection ready for the craft fair. Hope my ladies are as successful with their cards as you were, it looks brilliant. I love this type of card they are just the sort the ladies at our Craft club enjoy making. I always think they look difficult until you've made your first one. Wishing you a very happy woyww.
