THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS....

It has been a funny old week with enforced time at home - the car is still in the garage (looks like the whole clutch needs replacing, sigh....) and the flu jab made me and G feel a bit gronky for a couple of days. So I've done a fair bit of sewing for the upcoming fair as well as individual requests.

I used up all the new hearts fabric:

It paired well with the black and white spotty!

I also got a heap of cheapish stretch jersey from PoundFabrics in order to make neck warmers (sometimes called gaiters) and twist front hair bands. Some were more slippy than others so I had to use pins!! I know!!

Three neck warmers, I really love the fabric on the right but it's run close by...

...the one on the top and bottom left. They're silky and soft to wear next to the skin. I have three metres of the top one and might attempt to make myself a top. Maybe....

I finished the crochet stripy blanket as well - no sewing up whatsoever, whoopeee...

It's a nice lap blanket size and might be going to someone I know who is a wheelchair user and gets cold when she's out.

I've really enjoyed working with all these fabulous colours this week, they've cheered up the grey days, that's for sure.

Hope you've had a cracking week and have enjoyed your crafting! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

wow, you always find such beautiful fabrics to play(sorry, work) with... It's certainly told cold enough for neck warmers. The blanket looks so cosy... I need to go and get ready for work but it would be lovely to snuggle up under right now.. Happy WOYWW Helen #4

Funny how these jabs affect everyone differently. Hubby woke upsweating buckets and feeling terrible after his flue jab. (But then he i s a man). I've been OK so far but the flu one did make my arm sore but maybe that was technique.
Gorgeous materials, you should so make a top from that fabric. I just adore the colours in that blanket - veru cheerful!! Love n hugs Cindyxx #8

Beautiful fabrics,, Jan. I used to find neck warmers useful for covering my mouth. & nose in cold weather but many commercially available ones were too tight so I now go for cowls.
I hope you’re all feeling better now - the flu jab knocked me for 6 too.
I love your stripy blanket as well. Very cheery!
Take care and happy WOYWW

I love that top fabric that you are thinking of making a top for yourself out of. Go on, do it, it is too gorgeous not to.
The silky one on the right that you like for your neck warmers looks very rich so I can see why you like it so much. All are lovely and everything you make will sell so quickly.
What a treasure you are and I bet takings have gone up tremendously at the RNLI since you went down there.
Hope you two are feeling much better

Oh I love that fabric on the right, I can easily see how it is your favourite. I have not heard of neck warmers, most tops seem to have wide neck necks which leave my neck area cold! I am sitting here with a scarf on 😊. Love the colours in your new blanket, you do make them up quickly!.. happy WOYWW. Angela #13

It's hard to be without a car, so I empathize. I can't believe you had to actually pin something. Not a first, but certainly not something you would normally admit!

I like the hearts and black the best, I think, but I also like those silky fabrics. You always find the most beautiful colors. Happy WOYWW from #2.

PINS!! Good grief. I've never heard them referred to as gaiters, in that soft silky fabric they'll be gorgeous. I love the fabrics you've used, and like you, would happily have a top made from the creamy leafy one, lovely patterns and colours. Sorry your flu jabs have caused the gronks, we're a good 6 weeks from getting ours, I think for some reason they've started much later, Joan only had hers about a week ago! (By the way, 'gronks' defaulted to erm, 'grinds' which made me howl a bit!) lovely lovely blanket, perfect idea for its use too, bet it will be much admired on its outings. And much needed, the change in temps has left me really feeling chilled all the time!

Hi Jan, we were okay with the flu jab but not the Covid one, both felt a bit off for a couple of days but glad we've had them anyway. loving all the gorgeous fabric but Oh! the blanket is just brilliant. Who ever is lucky enough to get that will love it. Happy creative woyww. Hugs, Angela x14x

Dear Jan!
My husband had his flu jab too, but he's ok.
Cool new idea - the neck warmers. Love them more than scarfs.
Because they never come into the zipper...of the jacket.
The blanket is so colorful! So nice!
Wisch you all the best!

Your fabrics are all lovely but your blankie is so bright bold and cheerful that has to be the winner for me! Any wheelchair user would love that to keep out the cold. Well done.

Happy day-late WOYWW!

Oh those blanket colours are simple gorgeous, what a lucky recipient, so bright and cheerful. I love the top fabric you refer to (autumnal pinks and lilacs one I think) hope you get to make a top with it. Heart fabric is super too, always a desk of yumminess.
