THE STORM IS BLOWING OUT THERE,

 IT'S CLOSING SUMMER'S DOOR

(The Autumn Song by Tove Janssen)

I've only ever heard of Tove Janssen and the Moomins so it was a pleasure to find these lovely lyrics when I'd previously drawn a blank. There you go, always something new to learn eh?

We had a right old hooley of a storm last week for three days running (hence the lyrics today) so lots of sewing got done - I'm doing a craft fair on 5th November so am getting some more stock ready for that and the cafe as well,

But I've also been sewing bits and pieces to go out to Ukranian teenage girls, the Gift of Warmth charity was after knitted purses to put sanitary products in, I checked if they'd accept sewn stuff and put a few things together. I remembered that Wipso had made scrunchies for her charity and that Lynnecrafts had passed on a heap of silk samples a few months back and so:

I picked out quite a few fabrics...

...and very soon there was a pile. They're small and light and perfect to fit in the Christmas boxes. They almost took longer to cut out than to sew!

I may have slipped up in my resolve to not buy more fabric but found a website called PoundFabrics, there were some very reasonably priced 100% cottons.

These were all £3.95 a metre which is very cheap, I got some more spotty liners as well.

Pretty huh? I'm sure these will be popular.

After sewing up the blanket for my son, I started off on a stripey blanket so I wouldn't have to do any more squares, just back and forth instead, lol!

I'm definitely choosing the more autumnal colours at the moment, it's making me happy - I LOVE this time of year xx

Hope you're all keeping well and enjoying whatever crafting is tickling your fancy xx

Love the scrunchies and I bet they will be happy to have them! Your capacity for charity work never ceases to amaze. I love MAKING crochet squares but HATE sewing up. LOL! A stripy to&fro one is def. the way to go. Gorgeous colours and it will be lovely and warm with a nice dense stitch.

Happy desk-hop day!

What a great post, The colors are all so fun. I love FALL and our trees are changing colors, but still 80's weather and we need rain. Loving the fun ideas for the Ukranian girls. I pray everyday for this mess to be settled.
I wish you were closer I'd love to have someone show me how to use this computerized sewing machine, simple sewing is good, but it has bells and whistles and I have no clue. I just need to google and watch a video. As I age I feel so helpless or slow to catch on???? You enjoy a great weekend, the time just flies by.

I bet the Ukrainian girls will adore those scrunchies, Jan. They look glorious. So glad the silk is being well used. Your new fabrics are lovely, especially the sunflowers.
I love the colours of your new blanket too. Can we have a photo of Rhys’s blanket, perhaps?
Stay safe and cozy over there in the West. The autumn weather hits you but we’re in an odd summery patch again.
Take care and happy WOYWW

Beautiful, beautiful fabrics filling your room with sunshine and happiness.
I gave up on my blanket and wear the strip as a scarf . . . not such gorgeous colours as your collection . . they would certainly brighten a winter day.
Enjoy your week

Autumn suits you, you're very much in my mind when I see autumnal colour displays. I suppose living on the edge as you do that the storm really did settle on you, it was quite erm, squally here, so I bet you had v choppy sea! Loving the silk scrunches, what a fab treat and really great way to use the silk...plain silk scrunchies are selling for £12 each on NOt On The High Street! They are really kind to hair too, so all round a fab idea. Doing a craft fair? I don't know why but I was surprised to read that. PLEASE include some of your painted cards, you are too modest about them and with your beautiful stitching and yarning, they'll be another huge attraction. The Kathy's have gone home now, so my diary is my own and I'd like to chat if you've got a space this week?xxx

Nice to have found a song that fit your sea situation last week.

You are the most generous and kind person I know. How nice that you not only made the purses for the Ukrainian girls to carry sanitary products in, but you also created all those amazing scrunchies, too.

Sometimes we spend money because of a good cause and sometimes because the price is so cheap. I think those are fabulous fabrics.

Ah, your new blanket will look so beautiful when finished and no sewing squares together, either. Thanks for visiting while I slept. Happy WOYWW from # 4.

Yes the Memory bears will be very precious, I even had a video call with Annie on Wednesday afternoon which was lovely. Totally love the butterfly fabric with the lilac spotty liner, well pretty!!! And your Autumn blanket colours are right up my alley too. Although it is mighty warm here again today and I'm sitting with all windows open and my desk fan on too. Hubby is still in a jumper but hasn't put his heater on today....yet!!! Tooth is holding out OK, a bit stressful session but I got through it. Leaving the crown for now as he managed to fashion me a tooth with the filling - phew. Hugs BJ#16
