 STEP BY STEP...

Firstly I have to apologise if I didn't get to your blog last week, life just got in the way.

I'm still not in the JanCave but that's ok, it's making me do other things.  I found another tutorial by Shayda Campbell and thought I'd do some more painting.

So I set myself up at the kitchen table and set to. This was the first step of pencil sketching:

You had to put in rough circles to get the composition right then make those into echinacea type flowers.

Then you inked it in with a waterproof marker.

Next you added detail with a fine liner and went outside the box, lol! I quite liked it at this stage tbh.

Fortified by a cuppa, I then braved the colours!

Ta daaaa! I followed the tutorial pretty much exactly (for once!) and while I quite like the result, next time I would do lighter washes for more hints of colour.  I had fun anyway!

I did have another fabric delivery though:

I couldn't resist it, so bright and cheerful! But it did remind me of dear old Debbie Rock who couldn't stand daffodils at all, bless her. I never found out why but they made me think of her today xx

I hope you've had a good week whatever you've been working on, there's always something interesting and new to learn on the desks!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What a lovely painting of echinacea, Jan. I really like your composition and how it extends out of the frame. Your 🌼 fabric should sell well - lots of tourists would like items made of it as a souvenir. Say hi to your boyz - how long is O staying for?
Take care and happy WOYWW

Those daffodils are fairly popping off the fabric. Beautifully detailed. Love your watercolour flowers. I can’t remember who it was. But I think it was in one of the taster session, anyway she did a similar painting and offered several photographs of echinacea flowers for inspiration, which I downloaded to have a go myself. My to do list gets longer and longer! Happy WOYWW. Angela #4

I was totally impressed with your water colored echinacea. I like how you showed us from start to finish, too.

That fabric is absolutely beautiful. I also like daffodils. Whatever happened to Debbie? I must have been gone or MIA not to know. Happy WOYWW from # 3.

I hope you will drop by and see last week's WOYWW. I wrote it specifically for you:

I love your sketching and painting, you should do more, you have a natural gift for it. Those echinacea flowers are beautiful and the composition is too. One thing I did observe, doesn't the tutor hold her pen funnily! I always notice these things on TV, people hold pens and pencils in so many different ways these days. To me (old school) it all seems wrong.
Love daffs. They have a special meaning to me (remind me of mum) and I love their golden heads blowing in the breeze. Always sad to see them go.

Love love love the drawing and painting I really must have a go at that one. Love how it goes outside the box too. Gorgeous. I also love the daffodil fabric, so bright and happy. If anyone was to pick up on the bikini, it just had to be you LOL, didn't dare post that photo. Got paint on my knee and toe as it happens. Hugs BJ#1

Beautiful watercolour - absolutely frameable! That Daffodil fabric is certainly bright (in your face I would say!) but will be great for when spring comes along again! I love Daffodils because the squirrels don't dig them up! Have a great week, Lindart #20

Thanks for updating me on Debbie. She was not just a beautiful person, she was generous to a fault and she was an INCREDIBLE artist.

Not sure how many items you need to call it a collection, but I suspect more than three. Like Julia said, if you let someone know you like something, your friends will give it to you until you are sick of it, Never happen with my rocking horses, but I hope I never see another cardinal in my life (grin).

BTW, my Christmas addiction is trees. I have them in all shapes and sizes, but they all sit on tables and flat surfaces. I have no room for a real tree. Those I mostly purchased myself.

I had forgotten Debbie's loathing of daffs. Sure we spoke of it at a WOYWW crop once but don't think I even asked her why not. I mean I hate stuff for no reason al the time LOL! I do love your flowers, and love the technique. I haven't played with my watercolours since the Fodder school class that focused on them (well, two actually) but I need to get back to them for sure. So so pretty.

Happy lovely day late WOYWW!
