OH, WHAT A PICTURE, OH WHAT A SHOW!

It's been a funny old few days - I had my second jab and was generally ok except for being really weary. That, together with the very nice weather, has meant that I don't have a huge amount to share this week.

The jeans upcycling went well:

It was tough going sewing through all the layers for these purses, thank goodness for a jeans needle, but putting the press studs in was quite easy!

They'll do for my RNLI sales box in the cafe!

Talking about recycling, one of G's cotton shirts was fraying around the collar, so I cut out some useable bits to see what I can do with them:

It's lovely soft cotton after being washed so many times so I could maybe make masks, or linings for something....or I could put it away in the cupboard and forget about it like I did with the denim, lol!!

I gave all my yarnbombing fishies to the lady who's organising the event and she asked if I could do any flowers and poppies for something that's in the pipeline so that's been my tv crafting after looking at some YouTube tutorials:

It's been fun and I'm using up odds and ends of yarn. The daisies on the left were flattened under four photo albums, the ones on the right are yet to be done (they look as if they've got some terrible disease!

My brother, his kids, in-laws and grandsons had a big old family holiday recently and they sent me this pic, it made me hoot!

It would be good for a caption competition eh? Have a go if you'd like, there may be a small prize for the one who makes me laugh!!

Have a great week everyone, enjoy the lovely weather and keep crafting xxxxxxx

Hi Jan, The crochet flowers are lovely, as are the purses and glasses cases. Hope you use the shirt material and don't put it away and forget about it.

I love the denim purses, I hope they raise lots for the RNLI. What a great pic of your brother's family. Not good at caption competitions... but.... "I told you not to let go of it"

Hi Jan, very smart denim items for the RNLI. Your flowers are great. They’re meant to be 3D. I don’t worry about flattening them. When are they due by?
My caption would be:
Child on the right: “Why are you all shouting for me down there? “
Enjoy the nice weather while it lasts; I see you’re also due for storms.

I've not heard of a jeans needle, but I sure like those jeans purses you made. My grandmother always ironed her crocheted flowers before adding them to doilies, etc. However, she ironed everything. I remember watching her iron her bras.

When I saw that photo, I thought the short and tall of it all. Happy WOYWW from # 4.

"Bit of a bummer that sand"

Oh I love your daisies. They are beautiful. One of my favourite flowers.
Have you sent all your denim purses to the RNLI - just wondering if you could get one back for me to buy - and I will pay postage. You see the little purse you made me is ideal for my mask and himself keeps eyeing it but he is not having it. Decided to make him one but seeing these I think they are great and manly (rather than my pretty one). No worries if you can't as I can make something for him and use a press stud.
I think all the denim looks fabulous, especially the red dotty linings and am sure they will all be snapped up in no time. I know you said it was hard sewing but honestly, the joy they will give will be worth it.
When is the yarn bombing taking place - am so looking forward to lots of photos, especially your little fishes.
Sending Hugs, Neet 5 xx

Haa haa.. what a great photo.. *Lets put the past year and a half behind us* hee hee. Loving the daisies especially today Jan, so pretty, never thought about them having to be pressed/flattened although I really don't do wool.
Beautiful makes, glad you have been making the most of the sunshine though, beautiful days.

My heart sang this morning when I saw all that preloved denim made beautiful again. The purses and spec cases will be very hardwearing and stay clean too. I am still decluttering an rearranging my stash but this humid/hot weather is defeating me. Fabulous photo of the family-my post lockdown bottom would blank ot the sun sadly😂

I do love your 'jean' makes...and those botton poppers. Been on my ever growing wish list for ages, great 'end' picture too! Have a great crafty week, stay safe. Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn))#19

Laughed at your comment about ironing as little as possible. The only time I iron is when I am doing an art project that requires it. Like when I iron crayon art to fabric, something that must be done for the technique to hold.

I said "I like the sea bottom" not "I like to to SEE bottoms!" Thanks for the giggle - a lovely snap. You certainly made a fab job with your denim items Jan - they will fly of the shelf. We are on the same wave length - I am cutting down one of Steve's shirts for a Hawaiian style shirt for Ben AND yep it's Raph for me - have thought it from week 1! Enjoy the sunshine and I hope you have your energy back. xx Jo

Oh those look lovely! You must raise a ton of funds with them. I have a box of those studs, not tried them yet. I bought them to make knitting bags to sell at my friend's yarn shop but then the shop shut down and... ah well.... I have a quilt pattern someplace for a quilt made solely from old men's button-down shirts. It's lovely but i struggle to finish a quilt nowadays. Cute flowers too - I hope you will share a snap of the yarn bomb when it happens. An that family photo? What a hoot indeed.

What a morning, but I'm here now… HAPPY WOYWW!

I absolutely love anything made with denim and these are gorgeous. The photograph made me think of Frank Sutcliffe and one of my favourites of all his photographs called 'Stern Reality' think I would have called it 'Bums Up'. Wishing you a lovely creative woyww, Angela x14x

Love the photo - my caption would be 'Bottoms Up everyone!' I also love the purses and specs cases, they look fabulous in denim. I wonder what you'll make with the shirt - honestly, if I cut up all Ian's clothes that were frayed he'd have nothing to wear - the Guinea Pigs constantly nibble his collars!
Gorgeous flowers, what a difference the pressing makes, although I rather like the curly look!
Hope you have a great week,

Thanks for your visit. Oh I love all the cute little denim pieces. You always have a great variety of projects to share. I recycle a lot of clothes, my issue is I don't use them too often. I think I am really a re-arranger. Your little crochet projects are adorable. your photo is buttly beautiful. Enjoy a good week

I have never heard of "pouncing" before, so now I will be the one on Google looking something up! LOLOL I LOVE what you are doing with the jean upcycling! Such cute little purses and it looks like eyeglass cases as well! Too cute! I would hate to be the one putting the needle through those guys!! I've tried to mend jeans before and it didn't go well! LOLOL Your little flowers are soooo cute and it always amazes me what you ladies can pop out while watching the tube!! I have to focus on one or the other! LOLOL Heres to an amazing rest of your week Jan! Blessings, Felicia #26

fun stuff Jan, but I did chuckle out loud of the backsides view. ( my mama says all her shots turn out that way when she is trying to take un-staged mug shots..) I think those flowers look pretty, and the denim pieces should sell fast. ~Stacy #29

A great post as always, Jan, and always guaranteed to put a smile on my face! I love the final photo! A real hoot as you say! Your upcycled jeans purses are a triumph, and I love the crocheted flowers. I've done a lot of those in the past but never seen the daisy pattern. Things definitely look better once they are blocked, don't they. I had a lot of curly kitties while I was making the kitty throw!

Thank you for your visit. I did another session of clearing and sorting this afternoon and definitely feel as if I've broken the back of the task now. It will be several more days before it's complete. I am so looking forward to receiving Cindy's lovely machine! I got some foiling goodies in the post today from Ebay, in advance of its arrival.

Happy WOYWW,

Hi, Jan!
You accomplished quite a bit for being a bit weary!

As for the photo....I've been trying to come up with something clever...

so far nothing brilliant...."Wow! Did you see that?" or how about "Hi, Nessie!"

Happy Wednesday!

Hi Jan, aww love the cute denim purses, and the crochet daisies - I'd be adding daisies to the purses - I'm a sucker for flowers and butterflies embellishments! I'm with you on the nice weather = less crafting time. Good to be out in the garden in my case. Aww photo is so cute, especially the little 'un on the right. I think my caption would be (from the photographer) "I said show me your 'best side' not your 'back side' ...." Have a lovely week, and glad you received the ATC OK. One day we will have that cocktail for real, take care, Heather xx #28

I had a good chuckle too at the photo. It says so much without words.
As for all your sewing, you get a big handclap from me, you’re amazing. Well done Jan.
You’ve got me looking at Philip’s shirts now with an evil eye as to making use of them haha xxx

Hi Jan!
So much to do in our house (my sons flat...) so I comment so late. Sorry.
Your jeans upcycling looks pretty!
I do the same with my husbands shirts.
Nice idea!
The daisies would look nice in the yarnbombing. I'm waiting for the pictures!
The pic - your brother with family - what are the watching?
Surprise, surprise.
Lot of hugs, Eva from Austria
