WHEN I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING LIGHT
I PULL ON MY JEANS AND I FEEL ALL RIGHT
There were some really excellent entries for the caption comp last week - many on the subject of Bottoms Up:
But the winner was Helen (Stamping by H) with 'I told you not to drop it!' which made me laugh out loud! A small prize is on its way to you Helen x Thanks everyone who had a go, I really enjoyed reading them all xx
Right, desk time has involved more recycled jeans and old shirts! Rock and Roll, Baby *grin*
Outers, inners, wadding - all ready to be assembled.
It pleases me to get as many as possible cut out from the fabric.
One of Rhys' much loved check shirts finally bit the dust so that was added to the pile!
But I did break into the coral spotty fabric which is brand new, I'm not completely tight, lol! All ready to go down to the cafe when I restock the RNLI box.
There's another local event that needs crochet or knitting for, which involves poppies and other flowers. So I found a tutorial on YouTube (one that's quick and easy to do, it's all about the instant gratification for me) Here's the link if you're interested:
Pretty huh? And all done in one round after the initial small circle in the middle. The perfect telly crafting. I'm using up a variegated yarn which explains the different coloured petals!
This lovely ATC from Felicia arrived after I'd posted last week:
So pretty and I loved the cards too, thanks Felicia! I had never heard of Dublin, Georgia before so looked it up on Google Earth (I'm a Map Nerd ok) WOYWW has definitely improved my geographical knowledge of the US. It's good in so many different ways apart from desk peeking eh?!
Have a marvellous week and may your crafting go smoothly!

oh wow, I've never won a caption competition before! I am guessing that is what arrived yesterday - I thought it was something for my birthday on Saturday but I think I will keep it for then anyway - thanks Jan!! I love your little crocheted flowers they are so pretty. Happy WOYWW Helen xx #?
WHat great flowers Jan - the variegated wool looks so pretty. Helen's response made me laugh too - a worthy winner. STay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #?
Hi Jan, Now I am going to have that song in my head all day:) LOL
Always nice to get snail mail.
The flowers are fab, as are the glasses cases.
Happy WOYWW

Just before all this pandemic stuff I sent lots of really good jeans to the charity shop - jeans I will never ever get into again. How I wish I still had them to donate to you for your sewing. I think all the denim things you make look absolutely great and I am sure they will be top sellers.
Love the crocheted flowers. Sounds as if there is a lot to look forward to over the next few weeks/months with events going on around you. You will take lots of photographs of your fishes and flowers etc for us to see won't you.
Congrats to Helen - I never thought before but i will go back to your last week post and read all the comments - should be fun.
Hugs, Neet xx 10
Good caption. Reminds me of Chris and the kids on a fishing trip. He bent over the water to help Maddie with something and...plop...one iPod (yes, that long ago) lost forever. DOH! The crochet flowers are lovely and yes, TV crafting needs to be simple and mostly mindless - or the TV needs to be something you can just listen to and get the drift. No subtitles!
Trying for an early start this week!
Happy WOYWW

I absolutely LOVE your glass cases and those charming little flowers you crochet. You are so multi-talented. And your colors you chose were perfect, too. Color is my thing, too! Happy WOYWW from # 5.
Love the denim look Jan - perfect bit of upcycling. I found a lovely old denim shirt this week and I am contemplating what to do with it. Your little flowers are fab and I will check out the link - they may work well on my twiddlers. Have a good week. xx Jo
Well done to Helen on the caption, it made me chuckle. I’m wondering what the other one were now.
I’ll have to go and have a look.
Lovely bit of stitching Jan and I like how you’ve recycled the fabric.
You are clever missus

I love google earth, I used it to find my daughters house when we went to visit waaaay back when out first grandson was born...I suddenly saw a road I recongised and yelled at hubby to 'turn right here! and then left its down there on the right!!' Brilliant idea. I can still see my old red van on google maps although they've got me living somewhere else! Lovely sewing makes. \Still haven't braved the 'getting out of mums sewing machine' ...yet! Stay safe, keep on crafting! Happy WOYWW?! ((Lyn)) #15
We passed a RNLI shop when we went to Bridlington, Saturday, and I thought of you! Love your crocheted flowers. Happy WOYWW Angela #9
Great winning caption!
Super work on the glasses cases...and will look up that flower pattern!
Happy WOYWW!

I’m just grabbing a quick break and catching up with all my favourite blogs while I get the chance...the world and his wife are needing sewing at the mo so I’m keeping busy.
I love how you run up the glasses cases (what wadding do you use?) . I fancy running a few up in my spare time....who am I kidding I don’t have any of that at the mo!!
Hugs,

I hate to have missed your competition last week! So funny! Love the cases and the little flowers look cute - though I can't even tell if they are knitted or crocheted - I'm hardly an expert on the subject LOL! I'm a proud owner of one of Felicia's limited edition ATCs as well! Yours looks marvellous too! Happy WOYWW! xx zsuzsa #21
Hi Jan, all my favourite fabrics on show today. I have a thing for Denim blue. Nice ATC too. You may have guessed I survived the Skip-diving so no need for a search party just have to decide how to finish the job off now. Have a lovely week and a very creative woyww, Angela x17xa
Happy WOYWW. I love those flowers with the variegated yarn - so pretty. Never sewn with denim. I know that my current very small sewing machine would not cope with that! Getting a bit of light rain here now. Good timing, as I have just come back from my daily walk up the field - picking dandelion leaves for the guinea pigs. Ali x #24
Thank you for your visit and comment. I am going to miss this weekly look at other friends desks. love your use of old jeans and shirts, and just love the flowers
Take care and stay safe.

Jan, I was tickled at the winning entry! Good one Helen, it was perfect!! Love your continuation of the jean crafting. Rhys' shirt was perfect although I think I would have been sad, I kind of like that shirt!! LOLOL You guys always have such the greatest projects/local events that you can do crafting for. We don't have anything like that here where I live. I know it probably does your heart good to know that you can sow into others' lives!! Thanks for the shoutout and glad you liked it! Dublin is a cute little community. I'm partial to the mountains, which are about 4 hours away, but Dublin is nice for the moment. I hope to get up to the mountains when I retire! Have a great rest of your week Jan! Blessings, Felicia #22
Hi Jan, hope you're well, I've been AWOl for ages. I LOVE those glasses cases what a great way to recycle denim, clever girl! Have a lovely week. Annie C #30
Love your crochet flowers and all your jeans items. Glad they are selling well for you too. Happy WOYWW! Elle #25 this week
Would hate to leave any clothes around your house at the moment, they could become glasses cases etc. Love those flowers and was wondering what they would look like in red as a poppy. It looks like the RBL will not have poppies in spain this year (don't ask why but it begins with B) so was thinking there is nothing stopping us making them. Ani #2
Thanks for the visit. Had lots to do outdoors with our beautiful weather. Now storms in the forecast, Thanks for the link to the pretty flowers, I usually only crochet in winter weather, One of my oddities. And I love the ATC from Felicia. Have a great week
I love your crochet flowers, Jan, and they are so pretty with the variegated yarn. Your glasses cases from the old jeans and shirts are a triumph. I can see you setting up alongside Annie and making "Memory pouches" haha! Helen's caption for the bottoms photo was totally brilliant. First prize well deserved.
Thank you for your visit. "Too Doo or Toe Doe?" Haha! What a to-do! The new stash for the machine is fun, isn't it. I can't wait for my room to be finished and everything spick and span for the new machine to arrive. Poor Cindy is dealing with some family issues at the moment so she hasn't sent it yet, but I'm more than happy to wait as I've still got tidying to do, and plenty else to do as well, what with the computer dying on me.
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi x #12
Love the photo and the caption! The glasses cases and the little flowers are fantastic. Happy Belated WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#23)
I love that you are using that up and it has that look of soft well loved denim so, I am sure the people who end up with them are going to be so tickled. :) ~Stacy #27
I’m late! Love Helen’s caption, can almost hear it being said! I hope the lady who collected the fishes was knocked out by your contribution, there most have been loads when all out together. A veritable shoal. I slay myself, I really do. The flowers are pretty and look great in the variegated yarn, if a little fiddly. Still, as you say, good for tv work. I’m sorry you’ve taken the shirts off the backs of the boys, but I guess they understand their sacrifice for the RNLI!!
Oh - so sorry! My English is not good enough! I didn't understand the the words "caption competition".
No chance for me...Congrats to Helen! :-)
You keep on recycling! Love the glass cases. And the crocheted flowers too.
I'm sometimes looking for "telly crafting". I watched the video. Thank you.
Nice ATC's....real Mail!
Wish you a happy weekend.
Eva from Austria
