 IT WAS DARK LIKE VELVET....

Only two weeks to go to the Big 600 and the Zoom Crop - how exciting!! I'd better think of what I'm going to make that day and what my badge will be like. Julia did a comprehensive post on how to join, it's worth having a read so you're up on what to do before the day.

Margaret Glitter and Glue rang me up yesterday asking me to let Sue H know that she is ok but her computer isn't, it has shuffled off this mortal coil and joined the choir invisible. She thanks the people who have contacted her but she won't be on the desks until technology says otherwise. She send us all a hug though xx

I have done very little sewing - this was the desk on Monday:

At 2pm.......

I'd been having a think about what to do with these tail ends of fabrics:

At 3.30pm:
it was like Hades, so dark I had to put the craft light on. It was raining cats and dogs so the JanCave was a good place to be!!

The Cross stitch is still going well, I'm really enjoying it:
I only do it when we're watching telly but as the design is simple, it 's working up quite quickly....

The purple things are supposed to be snowflakes in the original design but my son calls them Ninja Blackberry throwing stars which works rather well, lol!!

A friend from band shared a photo of something his mum had crocheted on FB and I had to share with you:

It's a cover for her hand sanitiser!! All I can say is thank goodness she'd run out of pink wool.......

And a little something to cheer you up:

I'll be leaving extra mince pies out this year, just in case........ ;-D

Hope you have a great week and do more crafting than I've achieved so far!

Oh no Jan I wouldn't leave any mince pies out then he would have to wake me up to ask where they were. Your cross stitch is beautiful so neat. Failing eyes stop me from doing this now. Glad to hear Margaret is ok love her blogs and of course yours too. ANi #5

Fabulous post Jan, really made me titter!
Did you have a pattern for the specs case? I think that's probably a daft question knowing your skill! It looks fabulous.
I really must look up the instructions for the magic 600 day wouldn't want to be caught out!
Take care

Snort. Coffee everywhere. Puts me in mind of some very rude comments about my pink elephant crochet. I’d rather just have my sanitiser inside the bag, uncovered, I think.....!🤣 loving the cross stitch, and the sharp, antisocial blackberries made me snort some more! The long shot of your desk shows how nice the other cross stitch looks framed in its embroidery hoop too. That wall could well become a gallery timeline of your various craft interest. Off out for essentials this morning, hope Halfords is open as the van needs anew headlamp bulb...smashed the spare trying to get it in. argh.

So glad, now, that I put a jar of mincemeat on the shopping list for delivery this week. Will get some frozen and in the freezer ready for him.
Yes, it seems strange to have such short days I have no sooner got moving about and doing things than it is time to put the light on and think about bedtime. Glad you managed some sewing though - lovely and bright - cheery on a dark morning.
Hugs, Neet 10 xx

Oh Jan - your post really made me laugh - you are a treasure. These gloomy days need a little light and you certainly provide that! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the crochet holder looks splendid doesn't it - lol. Your little cross stitch is fab and I love the funky snowflakes. Hugs xx Jo

Happy WOYWW Jan. Love the fox stitching. I thought the purple were flowers, but Ninja throwing stars works fine as well:)

Did smile at the gel cover:)

Ooh er missus! I did wonder what it was going to be for! That Santa would cause a stir down here, too. It’s the only place I’ve lived where the post office has a *choice* of 100th birthday cards! Village defibrillator at the ready!

I love your fox x-stitch. Fox spirits are very Japanese so they go well with blackberry ninja stars, lol! What’s all this about having a special badge for the crop? Looking forward to seeing you then
Love to you all

LOL! So many smiles this week. Really enjoying seeing your stitching develop week after week. Loving the ninja stars, less so the peculiar hand sanitizer cover - I can only chuckle as I imagine it in pink. Ye gads!

Not sure Santa's grandson would make it past hubby's eagle eye on the security cameras, but hey ho.
See you on zoom soon!

Happy WOYWW!

Still chucking at the hand sanitiser and Santa's grandson LOL. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a dirty mind. I wouldn't call that pattern 'simple' - looks well complicated to me! Nothing better than being busy in your craft room while it's tipping down outside! Have a lovely week Jan and hope to see you at the Crop! xx zsuzsa #20

Now seeing Santa's grandson has really brightened the day, I might have to stay up and wait for him to arrive!!!! The cross stitch is coming along nicely and the way you've used up those leftover bits of fabric is a delight. Sending woyww hugs, Angela x14x

Happy WOYWW. I hope that Margaret can get connected again soon, especially before the Crop. It will be lovely to see her face again (and I look forward to having a Welsh get-together one day next year - we never did meet up in Llandeilo!). I adore that fabric you are sewing with. The cross stitch design and colours are gorgeous too. It is actually trying to brighten up here (after yet another damp and windy morning). Hubby has gone out to a meeting in the car (I no longer have my own car - was not using it enough to justify having it sitting in the garage) and I was thinking of going into town to get a few bits for the guinea pigs. Cannot manage the large campervan (which also has a manual gearbox) and our farm truck is at the garage having work done for the MOT, so will just have to wait for hubby to return this afternoon. One disadvantage of living 11 miles from town with no public transport. I hope Santa's grandson isn't getting a chill !! Ali x #25

I just started laughing so hard at the crocheted sanitizer not being pink. Oh my gosh! Will I get that picture out of my head today??
Glad Margaret is ok and hope her computer gets fixed soon! It's sometimes hard to loose that link to the outside world.
Pretty cross stitch, and yes, those snowflakes do look like throwing stars.
Santa's grandson is a cutie! But I don't think hubby would approve. LOL!
Have a great week and thanks for popping by!

Hi, Jan!
I hope to join the Zoom meetings too! (technology cooperating!)
I better go re-read the directions. Did not know I was supposed to be doing something creative or at least constructive. Really not any workspace by my computer. But it would be great to “meet” everyone!

Stay well

And Happy Wednesday!

One of our funny friends at church sent us the Santa's grandson pic last week, Jan! Great fun. Lol at the hand sanitiser cover hahaha! Nice glasses cases you've made this week, and your cross stitch is coming along a treat. I love the variegated leaf in particular, and lol at the purple snowflakes!

Thanks for your visit - glad you like tiny carpet #6. I agree, the random backgrounds are much better than flat colour and I'm glad I discovered the idea before it was too late.

Happy WOYWW,

Hi Jan, laughed my socks off at us all drooling over Santa's grandson! I'm making some mince pies this weekend with the trial run of Stollen ... maybe I should invite Santa's grandson over! Lol. The cross stitch is coming along nicely - I keep looking at David's birth sampler with guilt- oh well, he's only 8, I'm sure it will be finished before he's 18!! Thanks for stopping by earlier - when I said I cut the quilting squares by hand, I do use a rotary cutter, I meant I don't use a die cutter. Looking forward to seeing you at the Crop, have a lovely week, Heather xx #22

Hi Jan! Troubles with my computer (WiFi I think)😡so I have to comment on my I pad. Slow. One finger typing. Anyway, please tell me about the “ badge” you are making for the meeting? I’m glad you told us what grey crocheted cover was for and didn’t make us guess! Thanks for your visit, stay safe! Lindart
