WOYWW 599 - only seven more sleeps to the Big One!

A LITTLE BIT OF THIS... A LITTLE BIT OF THAT....

Butterfly brain, that's what I've had this week! Nothing major has been done but I've been flitting from one project to another!

Two sets of friends asked for some masks so that took me back to the JanCave for a while:

I tried to find appropriate fabrics for the task in hand, I'm actually running quite low now!

I think I need a trip to the Foxglove fabric stall in Carmarthen at some point soon!

Then another friend gave me some fabric to make her masks from:

They were an odd mix, definitely not cotton but were ok to be used as masks, I got nine out of what was provided. There's a few scraps left over but I'm not sure I'll use them tbh.

Anne Copperbeech pointed me in the direction of a charity looking for knitted/crochet blankets and as I had four put by (2 of mine, 2 made by the lovely WI gals) I decided to send them off and clear some space in the Jancave wardrobe, lol!
The stripey crochet ones are mine. I hope The Gift of Warmth find them useful and can give them to someone in need.

The cross stitch is progressing:
A mushroom, flowers and conkers have appeared - I may put a little bead in the centre of the conkers (which are snowballs on the original design...cough...)  As I said last week, I'm working with the colour range that was already there but am really enjoying it - the mushroom red is gorgeous!

And I was determined not to buy more Christmas shtuff this year but saw these in the Works and couldn't resist.
They're for decorating but I rather like them as they are! They'll make a good addition to the Festive Forest that will appear on the sideboard in the not too distant future.

So this was a real pick and mix desk - thanks for reading! Hope you have a good crafty week and I'll see you for the celebrations next week xxxxx

a variety of tasks is no bad thing! I am sure the blankets will be appreciated by the charity, too. I like the Works trees, agree they look pretty good like they are. Helen #?

Hi Jan. A lovely mix. The trees are cute and perfect as they are. It was good of you to send the blankets. I know they were so appreciated and wl go to a worthy cause. There are often letters on the group from recipients with many thanks for the Group's efforts and donations. Have a good week. Anne x 14

Love the Christmas trees, of course, and they’ll look fab in the forest. Not sure why they would be for decorating, but hey, each to their own huh! Nine masks from that selection of fabrics is impressive, you could never be accused of wastefulness could you. The flip of that of course is your erm, frugality. However, I am also to point out that it’s the only frugal part of you. Those blankets are gorgeous and a I love the name of the charity....perfect cheerfulness for someone who needs warming Jan, you are a superstar.

Hi Jan. A great hither and thither post this week. I just LOVE that music fabric! Brilliant - should be a required fashion accessory for all musicians at the moment! 4 lovely blankets for that charity. I confess to having a bit of a break from blankets at the moment - had made around 9 during lockdown, so decided some knitting was needed for a change! I like those fun trees.
Thanks so much for your help last week!!
Take care. God bless.

I like a "butterfly" post Jan. Lots of lovely fabrics on show and your stripey blanket is such a lovely bright item - it will give a bit of joy and warmth to someone. The cross stitch really pops out of the photo - I love your colour choices - so cheery. The trees are fab - such a simple idea but don't they look lovely! xxx Jo

Love the blankets Jan-they look very bright and cosy. I dislike working with fabric that other people give me as I only use 100% cotton for the masks. Think I may know a Shedman who could make me some trees.💕 Happy sewing.

I'm a butterfly most of the time Jan so feel very at home at yours today. I like the mix of fabrics on the desk...I've not made any masks lately but do have a stock of every day and Christmas one if anyone wants them. Those little trees are really cute so I will look forward to seeing your forest display.
Hugs,

I like the image of fluttering about from one activity to another -I do a lot of that and it helps keep the mojo going I find. I love the embroidery, it's looking so beautiful and really made me itch to get my threads out and have a go - I must say I've enjoyed it but will never be the sort of person that fills in the background!!
Gorgeous Christmas decorations, they don't look like they need anything doing to them so I wonder how people are supposed to decorate them. I hope you will show us the forest when you've set it up.
Have a great week,
Hugs, Diana xx #21

Morning lovely lady!! I must admit I sniggered a bit when I read you were running uot of fabric - bit like me saying I have no car or paper I suspect!! But any excuse to buy more eh? Loving the cross stitch and I think I'd leave the star and snowflake trees just as they are... in fact given me an idea!! Not connecting this week as pc and internet probs are driving me nuts, it's just too much for my blood pressure to sit watching that revolving icon........Hopefully sorted out for next week, though my phone usually works as a last resort!! Have a great week xx

The embroidery is coming along a real treat - love the colours you have chosen. I love the two tone tree, makes a lovely change from just one colour - like the fox, 'shroom and ... everything really.
Very impressed with your crochet blanket - by far the nicest on show.
Surprised to see you making masks again. One of my friends said that she has a Father Christmas mask, her daughter a gingerbread one and her hubby - sprouts! Wondering whether, if I have time, to make one for e from some Christmas material - will see.
See you next week - exciting or what!
Hugs my lovely lady - Neet 11 xx

I haven't been to The Works in ages, is it open!? I thought it closed. Love those Christmas trees and would've bought them too!! Hubby said the Range is open, but it's in Bournemouth and too many people! Love the cat fabric! I had some dog bones fabric, which a lady mask maker made two for me for donations. Love them! I must try to make my own!
Happy WOYWW?! Stay Safe!

Ah "butterfly brain" - I suffer from that too - constantly, I should say! I never make promises like "I'm not going to buy any more of this or that" because I know I will not keep it - and you don't want to miss out on a good deal, do you? I was just thinking how come you have the Works open, then I realised Wales is out of lockdown now. Loving those little trees - so simple and cute! Will go nicely with your other decorations, I'm sure. Thanks for your visit, Jan! I'll see you again next week for the big 600! Can't wait! Have fun in the meanwhile! xx zsuzsa #29

Hope to “meet” you on the Zoom call.

I understand the butterfly brain but you did get lots done. Pleased that the cross stitch is coming on well too. Like you I said I wouldn't buy any more Christmas decs. but of course I saw some little items in the supermarket! The blankets are going to make someone smile for sure. Sending hugs and wishes for a happy woyww, Angela x17x

Love those cute trees and the mask fabric! Maddie has been telling me she wants a black mask (I think she finally hit the typical teen goth phase LOL!) and do I have any? nope. Typical. Loads of tie dye and batik (her "old" favourites) but of course that won't do.

{sigh}
Loving the foxy stitching. Looking very cute! Bet it makes for a lovely chill out time once you power down the sewing machine for the day...

Happy WOYWW!

Always a delight to visit your blog, Jan, and see what you're up to! You do find some gorgeous fabrics. I love the one with the cute little elephants on it! Your room is always so lovely and bright and cheerful. Your cross stitch is coming on splendidly. I love the white spots on the red toadstool. Thank you for visiting and I'm so glad you've enjoyed the progress of the tiny carpets project. I've only got to make the red cord for the last book now, and I'm rearing to go on something different after all this time! Glad you liked my sis-in-law's card too. I agree - some nice bright colours to cheer one up. She told my hubby that the turquoise background was her favourite colour! I didn't know that, so I'm really pleased I chose it.

Happy WOYWW,
