 LITTLE BOXES ON THE HILLSIDE

LITTLE BOXES MADE OF TICKY TACKY....

The alternative lyric this week could have been 'I'm Free' by the Who as we're two days out of lockdown in Wales! Though I still don't have any desire to go rampaging around the countryside or go into pubs - I'm quite happy living a quiet life at home. Thank goodness for crafting!!

There's been a bit more action this week:

The fruity fat quarters have been used for masks and all sorts, I decided to use the last remnants up to make cases and purses to have in stock for when I fill up the RNLI basket next time. The blue spotty is a new buy and it went well with both colourways:

Bright and breezy! I like having a choice for people, these fabrics really grew on me.

I needed a New Home card and remembered that I still had some stamped images that Shaz Silverwolf gave me ages ago:

So out came the Inktense pencils and I spent a really happy hour playing with colours having a lovely time!

I enjoyed finding the right paper for the background too. I only had Pritt gluestick though and my fingers ended up being covered in ticky tacky (hence the title lyric)

I made sure my hands were clean for this however:

The smaller Aida came last Friday and I have been enjoying the cross stitch very much - I'm doing my own thing colourwise and will see how it goes.

Finally, this made me laugh:

Lol!!

Hope you're all ok, whether you're in lockdown or not, keep safe and well. I'm sending you hugs and lots of love, hope to see you at the Crop - not long now!!

xxxxx

I admit to laughing out loud at your final quote Jan. Love the bright blue polka dots with the fun fabric and the new home card is fab - brilliant colouring. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #?

Glad you got your aida and can crack on with the stitching. Fab colouring on the images for your card; very neat! Hope to see you at the crop, I must download and test if it will work for me! Helen #4

I like it, the little 'and finally' at the end. Good one!
On your first photo the middle packet you made looked, at first to me, as if it had a little cat peeping out of it. Go look maybe it is my vivid sense of imagination but the piece I now presume is underneath looked like a cat. It's the way the fruit is. on the fabric.
BTW I love that fabric and the spotty goes so well.
Glad you can go out but you aren't - that is our way too.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx

OMG! That made me LAUGH. I saw a post from maybe Chrissie Teigan that said the election results were like taking off a weighted blanket, removing your bra and taking out all your hair extensions a the same time! What is it about bras? You just feel so much more at ease at home without one!

Love the little pouches and masks, and your colouring in is superb. Like with your fabric choices, the colours all just work!

Happy WOYWW!

Loving your little houses and the finished card. Your makes made me smile as it’s wet and windy here today and they were a burst of light on this dreich day. Are we having an online crop, Jan, or are you being superoptimistic that we will meet soon?? 💕Happy making.

Loving that delightful fruity fabric! The whimsy houses are cute too with the colouring. I expect the cross stich requires some counting? I've never done one, but we used to have one framed, hanging in our old house that my husband made LOL. It has a story behind it: he originally bought it for his old girlfriend (years before he met me) but she didn't want it, so he completed it himself. That's the kind of guy he is! He'd sooner embrace his feminine side than letting something go to waste! I wonder where it is now? I haven't seen it in years! Have fun with your cross stitch! One of these days I might have a go too - looks like it might be therapeutic, a little bit like a puzzle. xx zsuzsa #21

Hi Jan, Loving the bright fabric. Also love the various houses. the one you chose is fab.

That fox is gorgeous.

Hope it was ok to snag the quote. About to put it up on my FB group.

We are in the first week of the second lockdown. We still allowed our Bubble, so I can see my friend like usual. We cannot go and have a coffee and something scrummy, which we miss:)

Hope you have a lovely WOYWW. Hugs Sue

Hi Jan. The Cross stitch panel is going to look great. I've done some different sewing techniques in my time teaching but this has never been my thing, guess I don't have enough patience for it but I had pupils that loved it. Pleased you're out of Lockdown. Just hope you're not getting visitors from other parts of the country who should still be in Lockdown. Where my friends live in France they have to take a document with them when they go out and can only stay out for one hour at a time and have to have a good reason for being out side. Lets hope people can use their common sense so that we don't have to go down that route. Take care and have a lovely woyww, Angela x15x

*sigh* stitching goals...

The fox design is lovely (scrolled back to last week to view) and it will turn out fab in any colourway you like to do!

I also love the colouring. I've got Aquatone and Polychromos pencils here - did think I had Inktense as well but sadly not! I'm sure the recipient will love their card!

Thanks for stopping by! Mx

Oh Jan that quote made me laugh - it's so true! I love the fruity fabric and as always I'm astounded at how professional and beautifully finsihed your items look - I've just made another holder for my bobbins and it looks Primary school level! I love the card you made, those little houses are gorgeous. Have a good week and I'm looking forward to seeing you at the crop,

I love all your bright colours this week, Jan - just the thing to bring a bit of cheer to a November day! The fruity fabric is a delight, as is the gorgeous house moving card with the fun little houses on it. The funny is hilarious! The funny thing is, up until the lockdown, I was quite accustomed to slumming it around the house and not really bothering with what I was wearing, but when it started, I took myself in hand and decided I really should be wearing all my gorgeous clothes! Quite a reversal. The weekly fashion shoot on my blog has helped with this, too.

Many thanks for your visit and I'm so glad you've put your name forward for the needle book draw. I hope lots of others will join in, too. I so agree with you about unpicking cross stitch - it's a major pain, especially if you find an error after you've finished that bit and moved on. You have to cut the thread allowing enough to finish it off properly on the back so it doesn't unravel.

Thank you also for your kind words about my bro-in-law. We are really going to miss him.

Happy WOYWW,

Now that’s funny 🤣. At least your houses don’t look all the same! (Line from song). I am not sure if they are a toadstool type, but I do like them very much. I didn’t find any treasures, but it is a great way of reminding myself what I have got. Hugs xx Happy WOYWW Angela #29

I made a few masks and have huge appreciation for folks churning them out by the hundreds. I too am very happy at home, and somewhat dreading return to "normal" tho it is more fun to stay home when it is optional!

Your Blog and your words and pictures are my today highlight. We are in quarantine. My husband has covid. Since one week. I had my test today in our City Corona Drive In.
It's depressing.

Hi Jan, the fruity fabric is lovely and I like those little purses - they are so cute. The cross stitch fox is lovely but the pattern looks incredibly complicated - fab but complicated. Nice to hear you've come out of lockdown though I can understand you not being keen to go too far from home just yet. We're in Level Three here for now but our First Minister did suggest we could be going into Level Four - that's lockdown for us. It's easier to stay close to home for now. The funny made me chuckle. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #32

I heard a thought few weeks ago about halloween, not one of my things, but the thought helps me to cope with it, certainly where the boys are concerned.
We should laugh at the devil and, by dressing up in silly costumes and getting small treats, we are laughing at him and taking the mickey. I think that laughing at this pandemic is the best thing we can do.
And another thing . . . . love your cross stitch . . . maybe I will pick mine up again . . . .
Have a good week and stay warm

Oooh, love the fox! They are such beautiful creatures when they are not on my lawn! Glad you are out of lockdown, understand completely the staying put anyway. Hopefully Christmas in Wales will be "on". We are not sure here, I wish they would put Ontario in lockdown, or at least the big hot spots. Your new projects are delightfully happy! Thanks for your visit, stay safe, Lindart #31

Totally bringing up the rear this week...whew. Loving the cross stitch, and so surprised that you’re not following a colour guide, so unlike you....🤣 you made a card! It’s fab and I love the colouring. The joy of using pencils is definitely opening the tin and breathing in the arty smell and then just be happy at the sight of the organised ranks of colour.....bliss! Can you tell Blodwin that I intend to ring v soon, please?

LOVE that quote!! Ah for elasticated waists!! (mind you VERY odd doing an interview by skpye at not wearing a full 3 piece suit!!).

Love the images, I have some I stamped up from previous crops too so good reminder as some colouring in front of the telly may be a perfect solution to this wet weekend.

LOVE the fabric too, am thinking of some easy makes for Xmas pressies with my fabric stash so will have a look back over yours (and Fiona's) blog for inspiration. thanks for visiting my desk already
