 I'M LOOKING FOR A FOX.......

Short and sweet today! I've had a busy-ish week, considering we're in lockdown but it's all stuff that wasn't particularly crafty.

I came across a cross stich design on pinterest and followed it to the designer's shop:

After I bought the chart, I downloaded it and spent a happy half hour cutting and sticking the four sheets together:

The original is meant to be stitched on a dark background but I don't think my eyes are up to that in the evenings, which is when I do most of my stitching!!  Isn't it gorgeous though? I'm really going to enjoy this.

I did make a start:

but soon realised that it's turning out too big, I need to start again on Aida which has a smaller weave. This foxy won't be discarded though, I'll do something with him.

So while I wait for more Aida to be delivered, I did some little charts from an idea online that are perfect for Christmas cards so I'm going to tease you and not show the whole thing:
But you can see that my love of all things Scandi continues, lol!

Hope you're all keeping safe and well, good luck to the gals heading into lockdown tomorrow. I'm worried that it'll extend beyond 2nd December and we might not see out eldest son at Christmas..hope that's not the case.

Sending you lots of love, hope the crafting helps - if you fancy a chat, gimme a shout, talking is one thing I'm exceedingly good at.... ;-)

xxxxxxx

I can see why you were tempted with that design Jan. Hope the new Aida arrives soon. It's our eldest son's birthday on Sunday so we won;t be able to see him. I am dropping card and present off tonight instead but won't be going in as we are both in tier 2. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #1

Hi Jan, That is a fab design. Glad you will do something with the big fox. Looking forward to seeing tyour projects as you progress.

Yes, in lockdown again from tomorrow. I've just said on Julias b log that I hope to get the things on my To Do list done, which insludes sorting my crafting stash. Thing is when we locked down before, with 12 weeks, I didn't get round to it:) LOL

Hope you get to see your son.

Hope you have a lovely day. Sue

Have mercy! That is at once very ambitious and totally charming. Or maybe it is just ambitious to ME but a piece of cake for you!

It feels like ages since I've seen my son and give the way things are gong over in the toxic wasteland that is my home country, it might be ages till I do. I could weep. But I will keep fingers crossed for you that the lockdown lasts only as long as it has to and Christmas will be with all your chicks home!

Happy WOYWW!

Hi Jan. I have a hankering to do some stitching. Might get chance now.
I am worried too that we won't get to spend time with family at Christmas. Not sure when we will get to see eldest up in Yorkshire! Think he is also going to working very long shifts at the hospital. Worry so much about him.
I am still having trouble getting onto Julia's blog, very hit and miss! Sigh. Take care. Anne x 11

I'm determined to do my rounds of my favourite blogs before I get under a pile of sewing this week...it just didn't happen last week.
I'm really loving your x stitching. We used to do lots when my family were growing up [and my wall is covered with them]. It's ages since I've done any....not sure my eyes or patience is up to it now.

The fox definitely looks like a fox! It must be so hard to follow the pattern though! I wonder if there was a way to transfer the design onto your substrate first - it would make it much easier, wouldn't it? I would be totally hopeless at this either way! Enjoy your busy time in lockdown - we seem to keep busy ourselves as well - lockdown or no lockdown doesn't make any difference! Happy WOYWW Jan! zsuzsa #19

Hiya Jan, the pattern looks ace, that'll while away a few evenings! Turning out too large reminds me of a Cross stitch kit I bought for my youngest sons then gf. Typically, I think in Imperial, so when I see large measurements, I assume it's because everyone else is in metric. Turned out, not in this case! It was humungus, lol. About 4 feet by 3! She was really happy though, as it would last her for ages, but I try to remember to make sure I read the measurements properly these days, as that wasn't the first time I made that mistake. Lol. Stay safe, love and hugs to you all, Shaz #4 XxXxXxxx

That fox is pretty cool! I like the whole design but on black would be hard to do.
What little is peeking out from behind your hoop looks interesting! Have fun with it!
And have a great week! Hope all the lockdowns work.

Love the fox. I have a phot of one snapped while walking out one day last week and was wondering how I could use him, maybe draw him as a digi, as I'm rubbish at sewning, although my dear late mum did leave me loads and loads of colours and one of those hoop things. Maybe she's hinting!?
Stay safe. Happy Crafting, Happy WOYWW

Fingers and toes crossed for the lockdown to be eased in time for you to see your son at Christmas. I, more than most, know how valuable something like that is.
Lovely cross stitch design - and it has a hare on it. I bet you get a lot of pleasure from stitching him (or her). You could take bits from the original design to work around the large fox and make that into a picture too. Bet you already thought of that one.
Now that is a great big tease you are leaving us with. Naughty Jan!
Sending love but don't go mad on Monday when you get let out.
Hugs, Neet xx 5

Your little stitchy pics are so lovely - I've never really done cross stitch but all of Annie's family have - such a clever bunch - even Mark! Thanks for the Bt info - G looked blankly at me when I suggested switching it off so not sure whether that will happen - lol. Off into lockdown - we may be gone for some time!!! x Jo

Good morning, Jan!

I recently purchased a X-stitch pattern of Foghorn Leghorn! Our neighbor collects this character! I haven’t X-stitched in years but I still have all the supplies! You may know me by now... I don’t throw anything out!
I think I have some kind of “disconnect”. It satisfies me to have all the materials for a project for if/when I get back to it! Don’t know if the neighbor will ever get Foghorn...

Still trying to move around and be functional in piles of stuff! (due to the leak). This stuff used to be treasures and family heirlooms, not so sure now. Getting close to a trip to the charity shop!

Stay safe!

Happy Wednesday!

Kathryn

I love seeing cross stitch but I haven't the patience to embroider. The Scandinavian look is lovely.
Fancy depriving those kiddies from black paint. They'll be scarred for life... Did you play with cornflour and water instead? And then get told off by the caretaker for spilling it on the floor?
I hope you get to see your family for Christmas, if not before.
Love and hugs, Sue. #26 xx

Jan, I LOVE that pattern! I haven't cross-stitched in years, but I bet this will be fun and beautiful in the end. I don't think I could do it on a dark background either! It's heck getting old with our eyes isn't it?? LOL I have a hard time seeing ANYTHING at night, much less cross-stitch! LOL Can't wait to see it's progress! Blessings for the rest of your week! How cute is this! Your fox! Such a nice stitching.....we in Austria are in Lockdown too. The offices are open, but restaurants, cafes and so on are closed and we are not allowed to go out from 20h to 06h.
Kindergarden is open and school. But childs up to 14 have home schooling.
My sewing machine is my best friend in these days.
Stay well,

I am loving all your cross stitch projects, Jan, and your little foxy is adorable! Thank you for visiting, and I'm glad you approve of the colour change in Tiny Carpet #6 - I wanted it to match #5 as much as possible. As soon as I discovered the mistakes (there are several) in that previous one, I knew I would have to redraw the design, and I am happy that I did. For starters, the little chickens are now symmetrical!! Your sourdough starter rejoicing in the name Herman the German made me laugh - that is brilliant! My hubby always thinks I'm weird, giving names to everything, but he laughed when I told him that! One of the most fun ones is a friend of my hubby's who has an extensive workshop and is always making/doing stuff out there. He has an air compressor called Edward. Get it? Edward the Compressor lol lol!!!

Happy WOYWW,

Loving the cross stich, its going to look fab and I think it would be better on a light back ground and as you say easier on the eyes,

I feel a little aghast when I see the enormity (to me) of tackling all those tiny squares... I wouldn't know where to start!
From the time we lived in the USA, I always fancied the idea of making a sampler, they were very popular where we lived in Virginia, but that's as far as it got sadly. I really don't think that I would have either the skill or the patience! I so admire the work of others though!
Take care and stay safe!

That's a fabulous design Jan, it will keep you very busy during those darker nights. There's lots of elements you could take from it to make smaller samples for cards of project. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece, no rush just enjoy. Sage WoywW Hugs Tracey #10 x
P.S I've been trying to get hold of you but can't seem to get through, in case i'm using the wrong email please drop me a line x

Love the look of the Joy card on your Aida, Lunch lady Jan. it’s sooo long since I’ve heard that word or done work on Aida and yes some of it quite fine, actually petit point. My sister had those.
The scandi design you bought with the fox is 😍 stunning, I will look forward to its Progress when the smaller Aida turns up!
Lovely desky share sorry I’m late... again... 😁
Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too, especially in these unusual times, a blessing to rest simply in Him! Praying you’re all kept well too!

Hi Jan, the foxy cross stitch looks great. It does look quite a project though! I still have not finished the birth chart cross stitch for David, who turned 8 last week ... oh now I feel bad - I'm going to dig it out, and crack on during lockdown! I do hope you get to see your eldest son at Christmas - the one thing that really gets to me during these lockdowns and restrictions, is not being able to see my daughters and their families. Thankfully we all had a marvellous weekend together for the wedding, even with social distancing and masks! Thanks for stopping by earlier, I had to hold back the tears walking Nic down the aisle - she looked stunning! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #8

I’ve never mastered cross stitch and am in awe of your makes. I’m slow stitching again and have got the daylight lamp out of the garage so that I can sit quietly in the evenings. Happy stitching.

I’m late, but as we chatted yesterday I hope you won’t mind. Loving the continuing cross stitch, that Fox design is lovely indeed. Like you, I couldn’t do it on a dark background unless it was during daylight hours, my eyesight is horrible now! We talked about your oldest son....my offer stands forever! Guess what, today I’ve had trouble leaving a comment on several blogger sites: the recommendation was to clear cache and cookies etc, so I have, so we’ll see. Have BT on my to do list as well.

Hi Jan, love that new design. I think Christmas is going to be so different this year. Apparently here we are allowed a two household bubble for next week. My daughter in law wants to be in my bubble, but so does my daughter. We always have both families with us at Christmas. It is all very stressful.Let’s hope Christmas will be okay. Angela #20
