WOYWW 595

 LET'S GO ROUND AGAIN....

Thanks to all who put up with my techy woes last week - all of a sudden, my internet provider (BT) suddenly took exception to Stamping Ground and wouldn't let me go there by any means! Something must have upset it and the only way I could get on was to switch off a part of the web protect (Anne Copperbeech, this might help you) which is why I'm here today....fingers crossed!

Here's the desk:

It's the dining table and...gasp... I have paper crafting stuff out! There is a space in my new JanCave gallery that I wanted to fill and I already had a box frame so decided to get out all the bits and pieces and make something.  I had a really fun time and would do another...but that'll have to wait until after lockdown when I can get to the Range again, lol!

The finished article! Not quite in the league of Diana Velvetmoth or Debbie Rock, but the colours are pleasing and fit in with what's already there.

My SiL Jill is having a go at quilting for the first time, to use up leftover fabric from her mask making and she's doing a really good job.
Her measuring and cutting must have been very precise and the corners all meet perfectly. Not surprising really as Jill is a meticulous sort of person - it looks great, can't wait to see how she backs and borders it!

Right, that's the crafting finished so you can stop now unless you want to come on a walk with me, lol!

As Wales is in lockdown again, we are limited as to where we can go/what we can do. On Monday, the weather was glorious after biblical amounts of rain over the weekend, so we went to blow away the cobwebs down on the beach.

It's always different down there, the sandbanks are constantly changing and different things get washed up. It was the razor shells this time, loads of them.....

And pretty much all deposited in the same direction by the receding tide.

The rocks in the beach had made the tide excavate the sand in interesting ways....

The low sun helped create some great shadows....

This made us smile - could be a heart....could be a face!

The light was stunning looking across to the Gower....

And we even had a friendly ghost pointing out the best way to walk...perfect for Halloween, lol!!

Hope all is well with you, whatever tier of Covid protection/lockdown you are in - let's hope it helps to bring the number of cases down. Crafting is the way to go, for sure xx

Have a great week xxxxx

Hi Jan, That box frame project is fab.

Your sisters quilt is lovely.

We often have the razor shells washed up in vast numbers, along with starfish.

I love the little pools with the rocks in, particularly the big rock. Reminds me of the Japanese gravel gardens.

Hope you are ok during lockdown.

Take care. Sue

Love your gallery piece and your SIL's quilt is coming on brilliantly. The beach photos are fab, especially the sand around those rocks. Hope lockdown goes well and things ease up in the hospitals again soon. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

OK, so as ever the quilting (even if it wasn't you doing it) is fun, and papercrafting? Not seen that from you as often, but still lovely. Where you excel in this post is photography. All of them, just so stunning and evocative. I almost feel the sea breeze and hear the rush of the waves.... if only. Thanks for the visit to the beach!

Happy WOYWW!

Your paper project looks do lovely! Everything you touch turns to gold! I had a go at quilting too years ago but unlike your SIL I'm not the meticulous type of person LOL, so no wonder it didn't turn out very well! Amazing photos - I'm so jelly that you live near the coast - we couldn't be further away if we tried! If we lived by the sea I would be hanging out on the beach all the time! But we can't have it all...sigh... Have a fantastic week, Jan! xx zsuzsa #9

What a great piece of artwork! Love the colours.
Superb views to looks at, I take it Mother Nature wanted to copy you but didn't have the same stash . . . wondrous seashore creations . . . .
Thanks for your card, it is appreciated . . . reminds me of the good times at the Crops.
Have a good week

How funny! Here's you venturing into more paper crafting and cross stitch, and me embarking on basic quilting (couldn't do the fabric piecing variety, not sure I have that amount of patience and would get frustrated when the corners didn't match. Too much of a perfectionist!).

Those shells though.... :O Amazing! I'd be scooping them up and bringing them home to....do something with later... LOL

Happy WOYWW day!

Wow, Jan, you always have such amazing photos. I laughed when I saw your little box frame-it’s lovely. I found one recently in my stash and am going to frame my Dad’s long service medal from the police-watch this space. Looks like Lanarkshire where we stay is going back to lockdown-we’ll know for sure tomorrow. Happy making!

I nearly fainted...thought you might be making Christmas cards for a second, then spotted the lovely bright flowers. Nice job missus! Never seen so many razor shells, isn’t nature fascinating. The puddles around the rocks are amazing, like someone used a mould! I’ve left the advertising off the blog for now, but it clearly hasn’t made a difference. BT not playing ball for a couple of others too, it’s really strange.

Aw such lovely things you have shared with us today Jan. The boxed picture is fab - nice to do something different for a change isn't it. I love the beach photos - the perfect place just to chill out and forget the miserable situation ongoing. Good for the brain I think! xx Jo PS I still can't link with Julia so Annie is linking me up. Afraid if I switch anything off I will cause havoc with the system. lol - would be just my luck.

Wow I thought I had the wrong desk for a moment! (But you still managed to sneak in some needlework!!) Love your frame, glad you enjoyed making it, that's thepoint really is it? I'm sure I am dealing with those mess so 'well' because I can lose myself in te crafting. Yep Navy and lime green rock!! It brought to mind that in my power suit days in the 80's that I had a turquoise green jacket and skirt ensemble with navy piping - I loved that outfit, shoulder pads, big hair and all. Love the beach photos, the big skies and my all those razor shells! Have a great week! Stay well, stay safe, Cindy #19 xx

Now you made me smile when I read the bit "A space I want to fill" You lucky thing, I never have any space though I only have myself to blame for that! I have to say it looks really pretty now it's finished. The beach pics look lovely, something I've missed this year as we've not been to the coast at all. Take care my friend and wishing you a happy and creative woyww, Angela x18x

Jan, I love what you did with the box frame!! I am not a good paper crafter, so I always appreciate when others show off their talent for it! I love it! Its so precious! That quilt is going to be so cute! I have often thought about learning how to quilt, but just haven't taken the plunge! Quilts are just an amazing art form all on their own!! I love your beach photos! How quirky with the razor shells! I love that about the beach, you never know what you will get!! God's blessings! :) Thank you for stopping by my blog and your well wishes! Finetec mica paints are so beautiful. If you ever get the chance, do check them out. They are yummy! Blessings for the rest of your week! Felicia #29

Thought I had the wrong desk for a min , with the paper craft stuff out. I really love the box frame- you are so flippin talented woman!!
I thought it was straw on the beach at first , dont think i have seen so many razor fish in one place . I am the only one who had a reaction to the jab in our house - we all went on Saturday , the swelling has only just gone down now, i also felt sick the next day but it was Sunday so not so bad. Such a pretty quilt. Have a great week. Soojay #26

Love your beach walk. I remember going to Shell Island once in search of razor shells. I used to make little mice out of tiny shells and sit them in rows on the razor shells to amuse the kids on the site when we had the caravan in Treaddur. Oh happy days! Love the sand moonscapes you came across - you could weave some magical stories around them if out with little ones. Fascinating lines!
Glad you solved the problem of getting on WOYWW and i am so glad I did too. It would put me in a right old tizz if i could not see my mates on a Wednesday,
Am at the 'van so struggling with the internet on the phone and my iPad is almost non existent but my laptop does not even need connecting to the internet - it does it automatically. Go figure!
What a pretty picture you have made. How lovely it is to me, a papercrafter, to see someone who is not enjoying doing it and with such lovely results. Just like you would feel if I turned up with some wonderful sewing on my desk for a change - no chance - sorry. My head just does not work that way any more and yet I used to make lovely clothes at one time.
I have made two knitted pockets for my "comfort cardy" to match the patch on the back. Think they both could have done to be a bit bigger so I might start all over again.
Hugs, Neet 13 xx

Thanks for popping by Jan. What a beautiful bright and feel good frame you've made.
Love your photographs too. I was saying to hubby that it must be the first year that I've not seen the sea at all, so thanks for the pictures. I'll play wooshy sea music and close my eyes with a magnum (and radiators on obvs!!) to dream. We did have a beautiful rainbow yesterday that filled me with hope.
Take care, with love and hugs from Sue #24. xx

I love your posts Jan - always look so bright and fresh! I'm just browsing here before it's time to wake up Dudley Dog for his daily grooming session and your comment about being blocked from Julia's blog caught my eye. We have BT as well and I know they've ramped up their security - and a lot of the time I've found J's site described as 'do not go there' lately. No others though, I'm a lurker albeit often too busy to comment. So, I got to J's fine today. I wonder if she'd been sanitised and declared COVID free by BT? Take care and keep your fabby piccies coming - you busy lady!

Hugs

Well, fancy that, Jan, papercrafting! That makes a change for you. Love the result. What absolutely fascinating photos from the beach. The photos reminded me of the devastation after the Mt St Helen's eruption with all the tree trunks lying down, and the new craters etc. I do love to see a beach with nobody on it! You feel as if you could run for miles and really breathe. I can almost smell that gorgeous sea air from the photos.

Thank you for your visit. Yes, it is surprising how the background comes together once you add the main colour. I am so enjoying this miniature cross stitch project. Only one more tiny carpet to go now - I need to get down to designing it and making a start.

I'm glad you've got your Internet problems sorted out at last.

Happy WOYWW,

Hi, Jan!
Didn't find you at first.

You wall decor is wonderful, and you even have space on a wall, right? (I do not have an empty inch)

Your shoreline is gorgeous! Soothing! I miss it. I grew up in Southern California. Got to spend time during spring break and summers with cousins who lived at the beach. Thanks for sharing these lovely photos.

Stay safe and
Happy Wednesday!

I think your frame box is pretty good! My daughter made me and hubby one for our 40th anniversary, only I lost the Y....so we had fourty ears... and lots of pictures of us and her and her sister...so I guess the title was ok in the end! My local beach chnces daily...it could be bits of what ever was left after the War, or just weird round lumbs of hard mud! and flip flops!
Have a great Crafty week

My goodness Jan those photographs are amazing... I've never seen so many razor shells!!
I've had a box frame for many years now and never got around to filling it. I actually bought it to display some sand dollars, which I picked up even longer ago, but somehow inspiration just hasn't descended! Your post reminded me of both things... the frame and the shells... maybe it's trying to tell me something!
Take care and stay safe

Hi Jan, your box project is lovely, that will look very nice on the wall. I would love to walk along the beach. I used to love collecting things along the shore line. Last year my husband took the car onto the beach so I could get closer. Your photographs are lovely . I spent a lot of time reading yesterday - Warrior Cats, the last book, oh it was good! Have a great week Angela #26

Having a catch up, as I didn't visit any blogs last week. Loving your fantastic creation in the box frame. You could make more and sell them in the RNLI shop! I have my sewing machine now, but still in the box. Might try some quilting next year (when I have the spare cash to get some tools/fabric), but I am definitely not the neatest at finishing any craft project off, so know idea how it would turn out.
