WOYWW 585

A LITTLE BIT OF THIS, A LITTLE BIT OF THAT...

The weeks are rolling by and here we are at No 585 of What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday (nice palindrome number!) It's the one day of the week that I'm guaranteed to know at the moment and at least taking photos of the desk helps me remember what I've done lol!! Honestly, it's getting bad.......

Anyway, the desk looks like this:

A low shot! This is a roll of fusible fleece that I buy online from Fabricland, it's one of the few sites that sell it. I use this with 90% of the things I make so I get through a lot. More cases/purses in the background though I haven't made loads this week, I've been busy doing other things.

Using up more woolly scraps for the community project...or is it G's crochet onesie Christmas present....mwahahahaha.... I use my needle case all the time Twiglet, thank you so much for it!

And Shoshi has inspired me with her cross stitch diagrams so I thought I'd have a go and am transferring a section of a free pattern onto graph paper. It's good to have my beautiful pencils out - I really enjoyed myself for a couple of hours sitting in the cool doing this!

A subtle colour palette! The magnifying rule belonged to the late mum of my sister in law, Jill who passed it on to me a while back. It proved very useful indeed in creating the chart!

I put away my birthday cards but this one made it to the JanCave gallery - that Julia knows me too well :-D

My brother sent me this pic saying that his cherry tomatoes plane had gone beserk in the heat and humidity:

Hmmmm, think someone's telling a porky!! I've had a lot of teasing from my considerably older brothers over the years, think I deserve a medal ;-)

Have a great week, keep safe and well xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

the roll of fleece makes a good shot but I did chuckle at the crochet squares. Your pencils look fab and so does the pattern . Have a great week. Helen #?

Glad you have had time to play with your Polychromos Jan. Still not finished my swatches (two down, one to go). Love the birthday card and can see why it made the art display. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #5

I wish my tomatoes looked that healthy!! I think I need to invest in a bit of that Fabricland fleece - your finished articles always look so crisp. I love the colours of your little crochet squares and so glad the rainbow comes in handy. xx Jo

I like the idea of fusible fleece, I never knew it existed - I've struggled so much with ordinary wadding in the past - this sounds so much better.
I love the cross stitch design - Shoshi's needlework has certainly inspired me to think about getting the needle and thread out - she's a very talented lady.
Happy belated birthday wishes - I love that card from Julia - she's hit the nail on the head!
Have a great week,
Hugs, Diana xx #15

I've just looked up the fleece on Fabricland....it said they didn't have any...then I checked and I'd actually asked for fusable greece....surprise surprise!! Don't think that would work the same somehow :-) Love the 'little' tomato.

Your pencil set looks like the one I have - bought so that I can crayon onto painted surfaces. I am just writing to Faber Castell about them as so many are broken and I can't understand why? I take good care of my pencils, or so I thought. Maybe they are drying out because they are so oily normally?
Trust Julia to find a sentiment like that - it is fabulous and so good for the two of you - fab card. Did you ever get that hare card I sent to you that was a C card to me from my friend?
Love that ruler, never seen one like that.
Hugs, Neet 7 xx

Hi Jan, oooooh lovely pencils, it makes such a difference using good quality pencils doesn't it? I have a similar set but prismacolour and most of them are now half the size they were - you can replace individual colours, which is handy. What a fab needle case, love it. HAve a great week, Annie C #19

I hadn't realised you get get fusible fleece so thick, very useful. The sentiment on the card is very true, in full agreement with that. Loving the pencil set too. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x14x

A palindrome! I was looking for that word but couldn't remember it! How wonderful that you're making your own cross stitch pattern inspired by Shoshi! And what a great use for those colour pencils - I've got a smaller pack of those - I need to get them out and stroke them - that's as far as my relationship with colour pencils go - for the time being anyway. One day, we might take it to the next level! Loving Julia's card - the beautiful friendship between the two of you makes it all the more meaningful! I don't think that looks like a cherry tomato at all! You're right - they're pulling your leg LOL! Happy rainy day - I think it's supposed to rain in Wales too? xx zsuzsa #21

Love your “Friendship Card”! I may pinch a copy, ok?
I don’t have anything to share this week...not only is my desktop missing, my floor is a minefield! That’s my plan for today...at least make it less hazardous!

Stay well and Happy Wednesday!

That's quite a roll of fleece! Like your granny squares, I haven't made those in YEARS! Cool that you make your own designs for cross stitch! Adorable card and that's an amazing tomato! Thanks for popping by!

Your post hit the spot once again, Jan, and I had a good laugh! I showed my hubby the pic from last week - I definitely think you should make G one and insist that he wears it on Christmas Day. I'm not sure what fusible fleece is - is it like iron-on interfacing? It sounds a brilliant idea. Love the needle case too - needle cases seem to be all the rage at the moment on here or is it just me, making 3!

I love your fabulous, fabulous coloured pencils with their rainbow colours! The cross stitch design is lovely! I'm very happy to have inspired you! It is very therapeutic doing it, isn't it. I don't have such a posh drawing board, though, but just use my lap tray! Do you use metric or inch graph paper? I find I can't get on with the metric because the mm squares are much too small, so I use inches/tenths. Love your birthday card from Julia, too, and the "cherry" tomato! All in all, a most entertaining post!

Thank you for your visit - I hope you will try the lentil flatbreads. Let me know what you think of them!

Happy WOYWW,

Sounds like you have had a busy week with all that you have been up too! You and Julia sound like me and my bestie years ago we would get up to all sorts of shenanigans and laugh all the time. I think I have some colored pencils somewhere in this den of over indulgence! I need to take a look and find them...only problem is I forget what I am looking for! Hope you have a great week! Brothers can be a mess for sure! Vickie #32

Hello Jan! I can't believe it's Wednesday again. Actually, when I am typing this you have already moved into Thursday. I decided to wait until after dinner today to begin my snoop fest. I am loving looking at the lovely vibrant yarns in the bin. But I especially like seeing your easel and the transfer on the graph paper. It's a really pretty design. I hope you show a picture when you do the cross stitch. Ooo and you know I love seeing your colored pencils. I didn't get to color with mine last week. Hoping to rectify that this week. The card from Julia is so perfect indeed. And yes, your brother is definitely telling a story. But that tomato looks quite yummy! Have a lovely day my friend, and thank you for visiting me.

Fun photos, and I love the use of sitting with pencils and doodling. Some people really have great imaginations for their time. Thank you so much for your visit and kind words. Things won't be normal, but I've a supportive DH and we were blessed with awesome weather, so I could walk and enjoy the sight and sounds of nature. Wish I had your water close by it's so relaxing to be around water. I miss Mom and my air trips to see the grandkids. I wish things would settle into some normalcy but ...we have elections in Nov and I am already praying. Enjoy a great weekend and Stay Safe.

Hi Jan! i'm still laughing at the photo from last week of the crocheted onesies, I see you've started one of your own for hubby, the red seems to be in the right place! Ha ha!
Alo from last week, I like the gorgeous red Asian print with the fabric right below it...You are doing fantastic on creating your own cross stitch pattern, looking forward to seeing it finished! Thanks for both your visits, sorry I wasn't able to get back to you last week. Have a wonderful week ahead, Lindart #27
