WOYWW 584

THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND...

I've used this lyric before but make no apology for a repeat performance this week - thank goodness for friends, both WOYWW deskers and crafting Muggles, and the joy they have bought in these crazy times!

I needed to replenish stocks of the glasses cases/mini purses for the RNLI fundraising, so this is what's happening during a huge thunderstorm (pic taken Monday morning)  I've already made some and am just using up fabric.

The anchors and hearts are the last of this fabric bought a month ago at Carmarthen market, the grey spotty is from my stash.

They came out very nicely as did the Scotty Dog fabric sent by Wipso - I got about six items out of the FQ. Generous with life, tight with fabric, that's me! :-)

The box is filling up nicely!

It's the turn of this Oriental fabric next - I was just wondering which spotty went best with it. Which would you have chosen?

I have a denim jacket, pale lilac in colour, which I wear ALL the time and consequently it had faded terribly. So I thought I'd dye it - so much easier these days with a single pod you put in the washing machine. Anyway, my faded old jacket is now:

PURPLE!! I love it, it's going to get even more wear now, especially with my WOYWW and other badges on the lapels. It has dyed really evenly, looks darker at the bottom cos of my shadow.

I had some more happy mail too from Lynn Holland:

Another crafting jigsaw, woohoo, plus some sweeties and a lovely little angel which is going straight into the JanCave!

Isn't she beautiful? I love her Lynn, thank you so much. And what you wrote on the card is true, WOYWW really has been a godsend in lockdown, with friendships deepening.

But I have to end with something that another friend sent.....

Lololol!!! It's the way the pattern draws the eye to a certain area...ahem. I've already started making G's Christmas present, just sayin' *grin*

Have a wonderful week everyone and let's keep that WOYWW love flowing around the Interwebs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your filling up that box again nicely Jan, i'm sure the anchor will do extremely well. Love the oriental fabric, all the spots look lovely but the tiny polka compliments the specks of white blossom. You did a grand job on the denim jacket, your so right about the ease of dying today, wear it with pride, i'm sure that you will!! Lovely gifts from Lynn, another treasure for your cave. Happy WoywW it's nice to have time to pop by today.. Hugs Tracey xx

Happy WOYWW. Gorgeous range of fabrics and filling up that box must be very satisfying. I would have chosen the mid-sized polka dots. I love Parma Violets too, but haven't had any for a long time. Ali x #5

Morning Jan, I'm glad someone is enjoying the weather, it is absolutely beating me!
Your productivity amazes me, all those beautiful glasses cases etc.
Love the oriental fabric, I have some very similar, but mine's just for 'stroking!', look forward to seeing what you do with it.
Bless you

I like the large polka dot on the left with that fabric Jan or the one at the bottom, but not the one on the right. You are doing a great job filling that box. What lovely gifts from Lynn. WOYWWers have been such a Godsend during this trying time. Look forward to seeing a picture of G in his gift lol. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #9

HI Jan, Blimey!! you're an early bird, number one today :o) What a lovely colourful box of goodies all lined up and ready to go, you have such a knack for putting fabrics together. The oriental design looks gorgeous, I'd dither for about two hours, then probably go with the red spot at the bottom of the photo to coordiante. I also love your jigsaw the beautiful angel from Lynn. Have a happy WOYWW-day :o) Annie C #11

Lovely bits for your box, Jan - really nice fabric choices, and didn't your jacket come out well! I *love* a rich, deep, Cadburyish purple!
I relate to "Generous with life, tight with fabric" very much! Have a lovely week x

Hi Jan, I think the bottom polka dot fabric goes best.

Loving your jacket.

Great jigsaw and always nice to get some sweeties. The angel is fab.

As to the crochet couple. Lets hope it didn't rain, as those wholes would have got bigger, as the weight dragged everything downwards:) LOL

Happy WOYWW

At least the Lockdown has forced us into doing more crafting, less distraction but friends are so important and I'm missing some of mine for sure. Loving all your gorgeous fabrics but pleased the crochet suits are not in fashion, not my thing and far too warm at the moment. Have a great week and a very happy WOYWW, Angela x16x

I love how you fill up your box with goodies so quickly Jan...you're a treasure [just wish you lived closer]. As for the crocheted outfits I really hope you're going for Christmas colours and a few holly leaves on yours ;-)

That knitting is hilarious. Wonder if they really did think they looked good!
I would have gone for either the large or the middle spotty fabric but the Asian fabric is gorgeous so would go with anything. Love all things Chinese/Japanese. Anything you make is gorgeous, ie those spectacle cases are fab that you are showing, love the doggy ones. Bet the anchor fabric sells fast.
Take care and stay well and safe.

OMG I can’t Un-see that!! I think the smaller, random spot is better with the oriental. You don’t half build up a stash quickly, although a thunderstorm would be as good at keeping me indoors as the need for shade has been this week. The cafe will be chuffed to have some stuff especially as the RNLI shop continues to be shut. I’ve been weeding and sorting business files. It’s not glamorous or fun, but just the weather to do it!! Xxxx

Hiya Jan, oh that picture made me laugh! Can you imagine what happens if they get caught in a downpour?
That red oriental fabric is luscious,I *think* I'd go with the larger spot, and the glasses/tissue cases are sure to sell well.
The dye job went really well, not like the old days, lol.Love the colour. How lovely to get some happy mail- Lynn made a fab choice with the jigsaw, and her angel is gorgeous. Hope you are all keeping safe, love and hugs to everyone, Shaz #4 XxXx

So much delightful fabric on display! Your motto could be the tagline for your blog! We could do with a thunderstorm around here - though preferably without the thunder and the storm LOL - so basically, just some rain please! I spend 2 hours watering every day just to keep things alive! Hopefully, this heatwave don't last long. Happy sewing and jigsawing, Jan, and thanks for your visit earlier! xx zsuzsa #19

Gosh you've been busy and in the heat as well. Love your material combinations, think I'd have gone for the bottom spots for the oriental fabric but all are good. Those crocheted garments what can I say, the beginning square so prominently placed!! Ani

Hi! I might have a go at joining this group of creative minds ~ You've made some terrific Projects ~ I would have gone with the small spots, front or bottom of photo I think :) The crochet couple is hysterical! Thanks for the laughs this AM

Happy WOYWW ! I think I would have gone with the red underneath the oriental fabric. As for the crocheted outfits, as you say ah hem! Have a great week and thank you again for my bag Angela x #23

Gosh you have been busy! I like that you are tight with fabric - I'm the same with pieces of card! Thanks for your earlier visit - I agree the urge to fill every day up is waning, and I would NEVER feel guilty about reading at any time of day! That was an interesting point you made about lack of pressure for kids - I appreciate that some children are in awful circumstances but I have to hope that for many families this has been a precious time. Even though mine are grown I have enjoyed having them close. Sorry to hear about Rhys - sigh indeed. I do worry what the future holds for young people. Stay well, stay safe, Cindy xx

You've been quite the busy bee! As to the Oriental fabric spotty fabric, hard choice as they both match well. Gorgeous jacket and fun puzzle. Love the angel. I've seen that crochet pic before and it does make one look where they shouldn't. What a hoot!
Have a wonderful week!

I laughed out loud at your final photo, Jan - I don't think I'll ever look at a granny square in the same way again!!! Lol! Love your rapidly filling box (so neat) and your fabby fabrics. I think the spotty one at the bottom of the picture goes best with the Oriental fabric. Your jacket has come out brilliantly - purple is such a great colour! You've done a lovely job with the dyeing - quite hard to get it as even as that. You've had some nice pressies too - the little angel is adorable.

Thank you for visiting and I'm glad you got a laugh from my post too! I toyed with the idea of adding the "fringe" stitches to the tiny carpets and close-up I think they do make a difference but they are very small and not easy to see in real life.

Happy WOYWW,

Wow!, Jan!
So much to take in on your post! Some things I will never be able to get out of my mind!! :)

I like the red dotty material in the center directly under the Asian print! I love that Asian print! So rich looking!

I admire your "quilter's mentality". I labeled it that because I have a girl/lady friend like this too! She is so productive!

Stay well and healthy!
Happy Wednesday!

HI Jan, ooh the middle on the bottom red dot fabric because, the colors look a little more vibrant like the other pattern in the middle to me. I dismissed the dots on the left because of scale/size and the one on the right for being kind of faded looking but, if this is a liner faded could be OK there right? this is one of those there is no wrong answer quizzes I guess. Laughed and laughed over the outfits joke ( at work so, everyone had to see) ;) ~Stacy #28

Jan you are my sunshine! You make me laugh quite often when I read your posts. I am so happy we met even if only virtually. First of all, I love seeing your fabric in the ready inside the box on the first page. Something about that brings out my nerdy crafty self. Then the after where you turned the fabric into goodness. Love it. I haven't done any puzzles lately but I have two from when we first went on lockdown that I never assembled. I absolutely want to wear your properly purple denim! It's so vibrant and pretty. As for the funny at the end, I had to laugh because my eyes totally went there!!🤣 Thanks for the visit!

Hi Jan, just popping in to see what you've been up to while I've been MIA - and you have been busy, what else! Your jacket has turned out absolutely fabulous - love the purple. And the oriental fabric is gorgeous. Don't go looking for a post from me, there isn't one. I will post just as soon as I know I will have time to comment/respond otherwise it wouldn't be fair. Have a lovely week. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

Hi Jan, I do have a local The Works shop but haven't been OUT shopping, I used their website and ordered on-line. Good job really as I need to follow comprehensive social distancing for surgery which I have "nearly" agreed to!

I'd go with the bottom spotty fabric for the oriental lining.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the purple jacket A-May-Zing

Thanks for th visit BJ#6
