ALWAYS FIND ME IN THE KITCHEN AT PARTIES...

Thanks for the lovely New Year messages last week, I'm sorry I didn't return many visits, I was laid up with a bad case of vertigo.

Be warned, you're not going to see much crafting for the next three weeks either as my desk is being used for something else:
Yep, it's now in my dining room doing good service as a cooking station. We've had to decamp here because of this:

The kitchen that was......

And the one yet to come.....
I know it's going to be lovely in the end!

So I escaped from the carnage this morning and went to WI Craft club where there was a crochet masterclass going on!

Most of the ladies are extremely competent knitters but haven't crocheted before. There was a bit of head scratching but they got the hang of it!

And crochet is my go-to craft at the moment, I'm making a stripey blanket (again!)
A softer toned palette which is using up all sorts of ends of balls - it's just what I had in my stash. I'm rather enjoying making it :-)

Have a great week and I'll see you soon!
xxxx

sorry about the vertigo, I know from other friends who also suffer, that can be an awful thing to experience. Glad you are on your feet again. Loving the look of the new blanket. Wish you much (speedy) luck with the kitchen! Helen #?

The new kitchen looks like it will be worth giving up the craft table for a while Jan. Loved the band programme on Christmas day by the way. Great crocheting and looks like you have a few more hooked lol. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #?

Cor, I don't envy you the mess whilst your kitchen is being redone. Too many memories of kitchen/bathroom/bedroom fill me with horror. Could do to redecorate the lounge but it keeps being put off - not that I will be doing it now, there comes a time to retire from the wallpapering.
So sorry to hear about the vertigo, not at all nice from all accounts. I know if I was to get up quickly and feel a teeny bit dizzy I would not like it so to have vertigo must be awful. Do hope you are 100% better from it now.
Good to escape to the WI and the striped blanket looks lovely.
Hugs, Neet 4 xx

Hi Jan, Hope the Vertigo stays away. I get bouts of that, so sympathise.

Hope the kitchen is soon done. Will that be it, or do you have more to do to your home?

Glad you made it to the WI Craft Club. Your blanket is lovely.

Hope you are better Jan - vertigo is nasty isn't it. Your crochet group looks fun and that stripey blanket is gorgeous. I am back on the old twiddlers again! Good luck with the kitchen - it will be fab. xx Jo

Your kitchen is bringing back memories for me Jan. Keep telling yourself it will be lovely when it's finished...cos it really will.
Love the crocheting ladies group and your colour choice.

Such organised carnage though! Oh the look of the runners in those cabinets makes me swoon a bit, how exciting! My experience of lifetime knitters learning to crochet is that it feels awkward for a while and then. *pouf*, they’re off and that’s another damn good arrow in the quiver!

Happy 2020 Jan, wishing you a happy healthy new year.
I hope the kitchen is finished soon and you can get down to enjoying your new space.

The kitchen will be worth it in the end, but in the meantime your crafting space is doing good service as a kitchen! We are thinking of knocking through between our dining room and kitchen at somestage this year - it will be a total nightmare when we do, but again, worth it in the end. Happy WOYWW. Hope you have a lovely week. With love and God Bless, Caro xxx (#11)

Hoping your vertigo is better. That is one nasty beast! I'm so excited for you to be getting a new kitchen. How wonderful! I also love to crochet but had to really scale back on it because the way I hold the needle makes my elbow and shoulder hurt. So I can only crochet in small bits. I love using small thread (bedspread weight) for making snowflakes!

I hope you're feeling better and that your kitchen goes back together quickly. I love the wall behind the cabinets! I crocheted when I was a teen, that's been over 40 years ago! Love the colors of the blanket! Have a great week!

Oh my goodness, Jan! What a start to your year. I'm sure a lovely new kitchen will be worth it eventually but what an upheaval in the meantime. Quite right to to escape and the crochet class would be much more fun. The colours for your latest blanket are very pretty together. All the best for 2020. Hugs, Elizabeth x #18

HI Jan, ooh you are going to be so thrilled when your new kitchen is up and running. (are the wheels going to stay there or were they just for people to haul the cabinets in with?) Love the colors of your blanket too. ~Stacy #23

Ooh veritigo is so nasty - hope you are soon better. How exciting having your kitchen re-done - it's not too much fun 'camping' while it's being done, but it will be worth all the upheaval in the end - I'm very much looking forward to seeing the finished project.
Hope you have a great week and don't spend too many hours hoovering up builders dust!
Hugs, Diana xx

You're right it will be worth it when the kitchen is finished and there's always somewhere else to craft as you've shown us. Wishing you a happy creative woyww, when you get the chance. Angela x8x

Sorry to hear you were poorly, Jan, and hope you've found the ground a bit more solid under your feet now! Also sorry you've had to lose your desk for the efficient-looking cooking station while your kitchen is being done! How exciting, though. It looks as if it's coming on pretty well, and I look forward to seeing pictures of it when it's complete. The crochet group looks fun! At least everyone is smiling, even if they are struggling with it!!

Thank you for your visit, and yes, your lovely little pincushion is always on the desk, with pins in it for unblocking pots of glue mostly. I do struggle with glue... I don't always bother to go to the trouble of annotating the WOYWW pics but it is quite fun if I've got the time. The scarf altering is actually rather a boring project and it's not exactly high on the list of priorities but at least I've undone them in readiness, and that particular UFO has left the sitting room clutter.

Happy WOYWW,

Hello there, I'm back! You will be pleased to know that your lovely bunting which you sent to me in Cape Town, has traveled with me to Berlin. I have not had a chance to find the right spot for it in my minute craft space here, but I will in tme... Im sure your kitchen is going to be worth all the hastle of demolishing and rebuilding ... its hell to live through... been there, done that..

Oh my Dear! Get well soon from the vertigo! And can't believe it: because we get a new floor in the kitchen and we are buzy to remove all my little nippes figures and so on from the shelves. (Not to much.....but things I love, and things remembering to my Mom. So you work in the kitchen and me too.....:-)
The furniture can be on place.
Best wishes to you and all the helping hands.
Eva from Austria
