WHO PUT THE COLOURS IN THE RAINBOW?

There has been a lot of crafting going on this week - I'll keep it short!

After all the WI bunting, I swore I'd never cut out another triangle of fabric this year!! Well, that didn't last long..... A band friend became a Grandmother to twin girls so here I am attaching the flags of Mia's bunting onto the tape, Phoebe's is next to do.

Ta-da! I do love pink/apple green as a combo of colours, it makes me smile!

A friend has asked me to make some items for her to send off as Ch^%£&$£ prezzies - I hadn't made an apron for years! She chose the lime green fabric, I had some fun with the pocket. The pegbag is more straightforward, though the stripey lining is smart!

Now Julia - brace yourself - the following image might cause you to pass out with astonishment.......

Not only did I pin the fabric together, I tacked it as well!! This is only cos it's for someone - if it had been for me, I'd have been my usual slapdash self, as you well know :-D

Lots of glittery felt arrived this week, I need to cut out some stars and then wand making will commence shortly.....

I've been teaching another friend how to crochet - Denise and I often do the same volunteer shift in the RNLI shop. She is a very accomplished knitter but wanted some help with crochet - so in the quiet times, that's what we've done for a couple of weeks. Denise is going to knit a tumbling blocks intarsia sweater soon and wanted to play with the colours first....

And she found that just doing this with crochet gives you an idea of the colour play but was quicker than knitting. We had a lot of fun just mucking around with these! Lovely tones, don't you think?

And finally, I was at the WI AGM yesterday and discovered that I'd won the Annual Prize for the most competition points!! You could have knocked me over with a feather..... I was presented with a lovely trophy in memory of our first president, Rita, who unfortunately passed away. It's on the JanCave shelves already!

Yay - happy dance!!!

Hope you gals have a good week, enjoy your crafting, whatever it is xxx

Oh my gosh but the buntings are so pretty!! And the apron and peg bag, how fun. LOVE the pocket!
Your stitching is so nicely straight and close to the edge! I don't think I did that good on my best day!
Hope you share your wands when you get them done.
And CONGRATS on the trophy!
Have a wonderful week!

Ooh Jan, that bunting is utterly gorgeous and yes I do agree that pink and apple green is the most beautiful colour combo. That photo of the zip opens up a host of questions - I just can't do zips but how on earth do you get a squared off corner at each end without it fraying in the corners where you've had to snip it, and what happens to the tail of the zip underneath when you want to sew along the little short side - all these questions prevent me 'zipping'! Perhaps I over-think it and should just get on and try it - I think I've turned it into a mental block!
I've never heard of glittery felt but I now feel I need some - isn't it gorgeous.
Congratulations on the trophy - I'm happy dancing with you!
Have a great week,

Fraid I mostly tack and pin as I’m not good machine sewer in my opinion, Jan, think you’re prob much more skilled than I. I was also taught my mother very old school, “if a jobs worth doing it’s worth doing well” kinda girl! 😆😁
We’re having more rain, I’m praying hard it’s going over hills and beyond Radar shows it’s growing more and more so praying hard. Might be long night.
Love that bunting so agree with pink and green it’s a smiley combo, amd the peg bag that’s def me too and aprons I’ve got them but don’t wear them much, should do esp crafty, cute pocket.
And wonderful congrats re worthy award!
Happy WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #10

Love pink and apple green! So fresh and that bunting is super pretty. Your room always looks so bright and fresh, mine is a dingy old hole in comparison. Love the apron as well and look at you using pins and everything!! (My middle name is splapdash annie). Sometimes I actually take longer trying to find a way to do things without doing it the proper way - what can I say, It's in my nature to be perverse. We were in Cromer last week and of course the lifeboats and RNLI are very big there. It's amazing to think the whole thing is essentially volunteers. Even more amazing are the 'original' lifeboatmen - what they did, without the equipment etc there is now, really took some guts! Have a great week, Cindy #18

Hi Jan, ooh those pennants are gorgeous :) I love the happy colors too. It always surprises me what you have been making and the peg hanger is just so cool :) ( I had picked one up at an estate sale years ago filled with old wood round pins and it still hangs in my laundry room) Congratulations on the recognition, it is well deserved. :) ~Stacy #24

Congratulations on your award. I am in awe of your neat sewing. My stitches are not very neat either by hand or by machine, I always seem to have a problem with tension!

Well, first of all one must say Heartiest Congratulations to you for the trophy. What a wonderful trophy it is too - and so richly deserved as you make such a lot of things, gorgeous things too!
Love the crochet bits you and your friend have been doing - what a riot of colour - wonder what she will choose. I am drawn to the rust and orange shades, is it because it is autumn? But then I do like those colours although they don't actually suit me. Guess the petrol blue and other shades of blue would e a better choice for me. Quite like the grey in with the blues ...
Gosh I am getting carried away here - what is a tumbling block intarsia sweater?
Well done on the zip - if i am forced to sew for myself then I am the same as you - just hope and pray rather than tack or pin.
Love the green apron although I am not a green fan, this looks fabulous with that pocket and I find it quite Christmassy.
Hugs, Neet 3 xx
