COME BACK AND FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED...

Did you see Julia's exciting post from last Friday? The one where she mentioned Sat 6th June 2020?  The one about next year's Crop?!! If you missed it, go take a peek - the wonderful Sisters of Stitch are running another day for us at the hall in Shrewsbury, which was such a great venue earlier this year. Come if you can, it's a fab day!

Another busy week has shot by - a band contest (we came 4th which was good against stiff competition), I helped in the shop for the RNLI Open Day and went to a bonkers Murder Mystery evening at Llanelly House, a Georgian gem. Plus ordering a new kitchen. And this week's no better - how I thought that retirement was going to be quiet makes me hoot now.

Anyway, enough blethering, here's the desk:

A friend wanted a couple of things making so she came to have a furtle in the fabric... a couple of old favourites reappeared:
I used to make loads with this birdcage fabric - I still love it!

I couldn't find my apron paper pattern so used one of mine to give a rough outline plus seam allowance!

Action shot from the machine! Topstitching is one of my favourite ways of making straps, edges, whatever, look a bit more finished. The navy spot behind are more glasses cases as people are buying a lot at the moment, presumably for Chr£$%"£s prezzies.

Talking of the C word:
I've got them out and have no inspiration whatsoever. Suggestions would be most welcome :-D

And finally, those ribbons that I arranged in rainbow order last week needed to go back into storage and I just couldn't face putting them back in the box to get tangled again, so I did this:

And it makes me happy  My new outfit for all the parties in December perhaps?! *grin*

Have a great week and happy crafting!

What a great way to store the ribbons Jan. I have already put the date for next year's crop in the diary. The C fabric looks lovely. How about reusable crackers? Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

Morning Jan. Retirement quiet??? You have got to be joking - never - I'm just glad I don't have to go out to work each day, as I wouldn't have the time! Great way to make a pattern - you are not alone! I do it too... Lovely Christmas fabric... table runners are incredibly popular.... or tree decorations with the red fabric...???
Congrats on 4th place! Well done to the band.
Take care. God bless.

I still have ribbons hung to store. I love it as they dont get all wrinkled. But I did have a tip if you have a problem with wrinkles, just use a flat iron that you use on your hair. I keep one here in my craft room!

Morning Jan, isn't it funny when we have more free time we creatives must cram it with refurbishments and home improvements. Your creative area is so bright and cheerful, it must be a pleasure to create in there Jan. Lots of lovely Christmas fabrics on show, i'm sure I have some of those snowflake Fat Quarters. I may have an area to have my sewing machine out 24/7 soon.. I will keep you all posted of course. Happy WoywW Tracey #11
P.S Those hanging ribbons would make an exotic grass skirt :))

I'm doing a quick whistle stop trip around a few of my favourite blogs between bear making [I've nearly finished one and there's only another 8 more to go!!].
I love that I'm not alone in keeping busy even if I'm not retired yet. Love the new Christmas outfit...be sure to wear your Bridget Jones's knickers under it for a bit of warmth.
Hugs,

Hiya Jan, you sound like a real busy bee!Loving all the fabrics, and hanging up the ribbons is an ace idea. How it must make you smile. It's just been unfortunate that the treatment break threw the schedule out, lol. I'll be ok in big halls, not so crowded in that I'm breathing in everyones bugs! Just waiting for the District Nurse to come take bloods ready for tomorrow. Love & hugs to you all, Shaz #7 XxXxXx

Loving the idea of you wearing the ribbons at a christmas party!! Meanwhile, you know I like to swap to a christmas hand bag in December, so a festive fabric glasses case would be nice...I cant be the only one?!! And little popper purses for jewellery or money gifts in Christmas fabric. ANd pot holders. You may not want to do bunting. So it was a murder mystery evening- what fun, hope it was as good as it sounds!

A beautiful array of colours, just what’s needed on a damp and dismal day. That’s a clever trick with the ribbons Jan.

Hi Jan, I can just see you now, hula-hula-ing at all those C-word parties ... you'd be such a hit :) Nice to see your sewing machine, not to mention your ironing board, having such a starring role this week. And those C-fabrics are gorgeous. Your little popper purses seem a very good suggestion. Congratulations to you and your fellow musicians for a very creditable fourth place - the only way now is up! I've often thought of participating in one of those murder mystery events but, so far, not done so. Was it as much fun as I think they are? Have a wonderful week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #20

Well done to all the band members, pleased you're doing so well. Anyone who thinks retirement means rest time is surely mad. I think people presume you've nothing to do and expect more of you Lol! Still at least we can get up in the morning when we feel like it....what am I saying!!! my friend makes me go to the Gym now three times a week and it has to be early mornings. I like the sound of the Murder Mystery that sounds like great fun. Have a lovely woyww and a happy creative week, Angela x14x

Chas reckons we can do the Crop in the day so I have got it in my diary now.
I used to hand ribbons like that at one time, great idea and so easy to spot what you want.
Love the C fabrics but I don't know what to suggest you make - one of those things that holds bread rolls in little popper pockets perhaps?
I remember that birdie fabric - lovely and I do like the green spotty one - oh and the blue spotty one - actually any spotty ones are top of my lists.
Hugs, Neet (behind you) xx

I love the ribbon holder and look forward to seeing you wearing it at the crop🤣 Christmas fabrics are beautiful but I’m also looking for inspiration. Would aprons sell for the lifeboats?

Love the ribbons hanging like that. Christmas fabrics are lovely but sadly no suggestions here, unless it is something to do with place settings. Happy WOYWW. Love & God Bless, Caro xx (#8)

I love your hanging ribbons! Very festive!
I need to get my machine out and do some mending! I have my mom's Husqvarna which is so much different than my previous 2 machines.
As to what to do with your C fabrics... not a clue at the moment.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Hi Jan, such a lot of lovely things in your post. I'll make a diary note for the Crop - how exciting, that will soon come round again! Congratulations on the competition. I love the ribbons definitely a christmas outfit lol. Not sure what you could make with the Christmas fabric, but knowing you, it will be something very nice! We went to the musical fountains one evening in Barcelona, and the first song they played was Barcelona and I sang along at the top of my voice! I love Queen and Freddie Mercury- saw them at their last ever UK concert - was amazing! Have a lovely week Heather xx #28

I think one of the things I love most about your posts, Jan, is that they are always such a feast of colour! Your rainbow ribbon waterfall is just glorious... I adore that birdcage fabric. And what a good idea to use an existing apron as a pattern. I really should get myself organised... I recently bought a new green striped butcher's apron (at great expense I'm afraid... blue ones are much cheaper for some reason, but my kitchen is green). Anyway, I should make my own.

Thank you for your comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the slippers. I can't wait to get them finished now that the end is in sight.

Happy WOYWW,

Ooh!Lots of lovely fabric and oooh! polka dots always make me smile! Well done for the band! As for what to make I can only think of little baskets....I'd just go for the easy option- no sew wrapping tied up with a ribbon...soreeee! Hugs, Chrisx
