WOYWW 310

IT'S CHERRY PINK AND APPLE BLOSSOM WHITE
WHEN YOU'RE IN LOVE.

Well, after a blank spell on my desk, quite a lot has been made over the past week! I took notice of something that Julia wrote...ie no-one's going to make time for you...be selfish occasionally and do what you want to. So I did :-)

I enjoyed making this bunting for Maya, a new grand-daughter of friends of mine. Pretty colours, buttons, ribbons, lace and....

....butterflies! Gotta be done :-)

Then I found some scraps of furnishing fabric in my stash and realised that some of them went together very well, though you wouldn't have thought it at first.

I've had the stripes and spots for ages but the floral is fairly recent. However, the colours tone really well. There was just enough to make a patchwork tote....

I even found some red spot that I thought would clash horribly but it didn't. Here's a pocket in the making.....

It works quite well - I might take this plus a couple of other things to the Crop :-)

I love this flowery fabric - chintzy patterns are usually my last option, but this one is fresh and pretty. And I already had this apple green spotty for the lining....

Gosh, I adore this combo. A zipped craft bag is in the offing, I think!

I don't know if I'll get much more done this week as there's a lot of food shopping and cooking to be done for the Crop on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again. There'll be lots of chatting. eating cake and maybe some crafting going on. Sounds like the perfect day, lol!!!

I had to stop by before going to bed and say you have a great eye when it comes to color. I especially like the way you combined those fabrics for the bag. The pocket was the crowning touch that brought the entire bag together. That's an adorable bunting, too.

Have fun at the crop. I'll be there in spirit, but you'll have to eat my piece of cake for me (grin). Happy last Wed before the crop from #9.

Magic in the works. Lovely project. You've a good eye for matching up the colors and patterns of fabric. I'd love to exchange ATC's again...will send to Julia if that's ok. Have fun with your cooking at the crop and I know you will all have a wonderful day. I'd love to attend but I don't see the money flashing before my eyes. Happy WOYWW and have a wonderful weekend.

You combos are sometimes out of my personal comfort zone, but that is what makes them so fun - I'd never have matched that set and yet, it does seem to work! Hey...shouldn't you be cooking?

I think you are the fabric whisperer--all your fabric combinations are amazing, all the time! Case in point, MY Jan bag--which I have with me at the office today. It carries my lunch, my embroidery project, my date book, my tablet, and my little makeup bag. Now that it's spring, I just carry every day, love it. I completely took last week off after my second laser procedure--it was quite intense, and the doctor even gave me a shot for the pain during the procedure, which made all the difference. But recovery is hard...I just feel a little weak, and it's going to take a long time for the eye to heal. But I'm hanging in there and focusing on all the good things, and I'm just so glad that I could have this procedure, instead of suffering. So yay me! I will be there in spirit at the crop--hugs to you my sweet friend! Sandy Leigh #52

Hello LLJ,

The tote came out beautifully! I imagine fabric is sort of like beadwork. Sometimes I'd put beads together that I wouldn't think would "go" and they came out perfect. The ones I thought worked, once beside eachother, just clashed. Someone's going to be very lucky at the Crop. It's on my bucket list!!!

Hugs,
Kay

Love your fabric combinations, Jan, they all work a treat. Sandy's right, you are the fabric whisperer :) All the polka dotty fabrics are gorgeous - I'm a sucker for polka dots - and the floral fabric just sings to me :) And Maya's bunting is totally adorable ... love the lace and the butterflies. A question, Jan, what do you use to cut out the letters, have you got a pattern or a template that you trace around. I know this must sound like an elementary question but I'd like to make some bunting for all my great-grands (two more on the way this year) and I've not really thought about the letters before. Have a wonderful time at the crop - you know I'd love to be there too but, once again, it can't be done ... I'm not giving up hope, not yet anyway :) Hugs, Elizabeth x #49

Your fabric is so gorgeous, Jan. I wish I sewed just for all the lovely patterns you get and your bunting for Maya is perfect. I love all the little embellishments you've put on.
You are obviously so much warmer down there. It's been pretty chilly "up north" lately so I dare not risk planting anything out just yet. We always reckon on Spring Bank Holiday for planting out so the greenhouse will groan for another week yet!!
Have a brilliant day on Saturday. I will be with you in spirit and, yes, definitely have a piece of cake for me, anything but chocolate please.
