 MAN IT'S A HOT ONE....

Wow, there's not much we can say about these temperatures is it? Absolute madness, I'm not enjoying it at all and we have a bit of sea breeze here to take the temps down a couple of degrees or two - it must be sweltering to the south and east. I hope you're managing to cope as best you can.

Crafting is continuing but in fits and starts at the beginning and end of the day as the JanCave is on the warm side of the house. I'm working my way through the strips...

I have the ironing board set up in the guest bedroom which is a bit cooler...

They are going down even if it doesn't look like it!

I'm stacking them up in piles of ten...it's pretty mindless sewing tbh but just what is comfortable at the moment.

Unlike knitting, it's just too hot to be handling yarn. I made these over the weekend. While I like the silver ones, the Foxy coloured yarn is definitely my favourite!

I thought I'd drag my paints out and look for some YouTube tutorials:

This is as far as I've got lol! I will have a go this afternoon when it's going to be too hot to do anything at all.

Thanks for all the lovely messages about my eye op, I had to visit the optician yesterday as I had irritation in my left eye. She wasn't too concerned and gave me soothing drops to use in between the steroid ones, G is doing sterling work putting them in for me and they have helped. The high temps aren't helping as my eyes are drying out so I'm ultra careful about going out, just can't risk anything.

Hope you are get through the next couple of days ok, I'm off for an ice bath...... xxxxxxxx

the heat has been just too much, there are multiple fans going at work (office is un-airconditioned where I work although the other one has) it's just about ok inside until you have to go home....Gladyou have been managing to do some crafting, the critters look fabulous! Hope the eyes continue to heal well. Happy WOYWW Helen #1

Oh yes, the foxy hedgehogs are a winner! I'm going to have a go but I don't think I got your email. Your pile of quilt squares look fab and will make wonderful quilts. It's just too hot to do much of anything here.. 29° indoors yesterday. Stay cool! x x Jo 🌈

I think we are all struggling in this heat. I have my blinds down in my sewing room to keep the direct sun out and have a fan on to keep me cooler...it works for me. In the evening it's down to minimal clothes and I've found a small pack of frozen peas around the back of my neck keeps my head cool...give it a go.
Hugs,
Annie x

Dashing around quick before the heat builds...
I adore the hedgehogs even more as a ... what IS the multiples? Can you believe it's called a PRICKLE? Of course it is! I'd say keep the iron off and stay by the sea. I would if it were close...
Happy far, FAR too hot WOYWW

I was listening to a climatologist last week who said we need to retro fit our homes and offices with whatever we need to cope with these temps because they’re here to stay, it’s too late to change …either it’s going to be high hot or v wet in the summers now. I must say even we are considering air con for the ground floor, at least the solar would run it! The quilt is coming on immeasurably, I love the pic of all the strips..all that colour! I hope the second eye drops have helped….lack of concern feels a bit blasé to me, irritation causes all sorts of difficulties, not least having to remember to resist rubbing. You’re doing so well, this mega bright sunshine is a real challenge.

Glad your eyes are ok. Your quilt will be stunning; you have such a good eye for colour. Your hedgehogs are great.
We’re glad to have the ProBreeze Neet recommended, it’s a fan that you add water and an ice block into, so the air is cooled.
Happy WOYWW

Hello Jan, It really is too hot. Like you, we have a sea breeze here to bring it down a bit but it's still too darned hot! It's good that despite this you are still finding some where a bit cooler to prep and sew those fabric strips in. Those piles are impressive. I prefer the browny colored hedgehogs too - more like the real thing. Sorry to hear that your having a problem with one of your eyes. It's the dryness that does it. I have to use drops for the same reason. Hope the drops continue to help. Have a great WOYWW. Hugs, Elizabeth xx #10

All your little critters are cute, but I definitely like the Foxy colored ones best too. I can't wait to see what you do with those watercolors. Stay cool, continue to take care of your eyes, and happy WOYWW!

Oh yes! Looking after your eyes is a priority. I was diagnosed with dry eye syndrome several years ago, but since stopping the antidepressants the stinging at night has stopped. I also no longer have a dry mouth all the time. The heat makes me feel so lethargic, I am not sure anything will get done art and craft wise, but that’s okay.

Meant to say a group of hedgehogs is called a “Prickle”, how cut is that!

Dear Jan! It's so good to read that you're OK with your eyes. And that you are doing well. I love the hedgehog! And the bright colors of your patchwork. Take care! It's too hot now. Eva from Austria.

I think it goes without saying that I am really struggling with this heat. Even with the air-con 24/7 in my craft/bedroom the temp has climbed up to 24 degrees today and at that temperature I stop functioning at the best of times. The rest of the house is way hotter so I'm only leaving my room for food/drink and very quick bathroom breaks today. Roll on Sunday and hopefully a break in the weather. Amazed that you can manage any sewing I have given up today hands too hot and swollen. Adore your hoglets. Those watercolours will dry in no time!! Eeeek!!!

Love those hedgehogs Jan, but can understand leaving yarn alone at the moment. Hope you are surviving the heat somehow. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah
