SWEET AS CANDY
Hi there, all you lovely deskers, hope you've had a good week. It's been another full one here, we've been getting out and about and enjoying the sunshine. It's been busy craftwise too, not just mine but coordinating what others are doing for the RNLI fundraising. Talking of which, the collection tin in the harbour cafe yielded another £325 so I was chuffed with that, only another £95 to reach the £11k, woohoo!
I've been using my most recent fabric purchases:
Both fabrics were lovely to work with...
I love that elephant print, the purple spotty was perfect with it.
Halfway through another glasses case - I was pleased with the warm olivey-grey as the lining, it tones really well. I like this cherry blossom fabric too, so pretty.
I saw some cheap cotton FQs so got some to make Halloween bags as there's two fairs in the next two weeks:
Simple drawstring bags with black cotton linings and ribbon ties (both of which were donated to me, so kind and really keeps the costs down!)
I had a bit of a count up/stock take of the Christmas things made so far, and my guest room now looks like this:
There's a fair few things now but it's hard to know exactly how many to make. All I know is I might have sufficient Ferrero Rochers......
They're not all for me, lol! I've got to distribute some to the kind gals who are knitting away at the moment. A friend went to CostCo and got these, they were a bit cheaper than elsewhere. It's just as well that I'm not that keen on these isn't it?
And while I'll be chatting with a friend online, I have some snowmen sewing up to do:
Sewing on the carrot noses is the fiddliest bit for sure!
As many of you will have heard by now, Julia and Barry had a real shock at the weekend when their worksheds and business premises burned to the ground - thankfully no-one was hurt but they've lost everything. Thank you to the deskers who contacted me and donated so we could send some flowers and another little surprise - I'm aware that I couldn't contact everyone so apologies if I missed you out, I wanted to get something organised quickly. Julia was very touched to know how much love and support they have but then, that's what WOYWW is all about isn't it? The crafting is almost secondary now!
Take care and have a good week xxxxxx

Thank you for organising the flowers for Julia, and I am glad she received them so quickly . We wouldn't be here without her. Well done on the RNLI totals, what a star you are. Fabulous new prints too. Happy WOYWW Helen #3
The cherry blossom fabric steals my heart this week although I am a halloween fan. With those 'elefumps' coming a close second.
Congratulations on the amount raised, not far from the £11k now, you will reach that in no time. The guest room looks fabulous set out like that.
Thank you for arranging the collection for Julia and hubbie. Nothing will ever replace all that they lost but i hope knowing our little community came together in thought helped a little.
Hugs, Neet xx 3

What a wonderful crafty post Jan. You are an inspiration!. I really do want to get sewing again - maybe when Tilly is on her hols at half term🤣 Keep us updated on Julia and Barry and thanks for organizing the flowers etc. I'm sure our support and friendship will lift them a little. x x Jo 🌈
Sorry I wasn't contactable, only just heard the news from Sarah's post today - so devastating, we lost our family home to fire in the 80's. I couldn't resist the Ferrero Rochers adore them but am on a chocolate fast currently although the IBS has flared up so any food and drink is causing trouble. Gosh back the the top of your post and loving the elephant fabric and liner. Hugs BJ#9
I saw Julia and Bart’s awful news on FB and thankful that their home was not damaged. Your makes are very eye catching as always and the chocolates would have been safe in this nut free household! Happy sewing. Catriona
The sunshine has been irresistible hasnt it, we've enjoyed it too, long may it continue, autumn is so beautiful in the sunshine. We've spoken and messaged but I can't say often enough how much i appreciate your coordinating the flower delivery and your being there to listen. I feel I did go on, sorry. Totally buoyed up by everyone, it's immensely humbling.
You are a whirlwind of charity making. I still cannot believe you are at £11k and not £100K, with all you do. Thanks ever so much for arranging the flowers for Julia. Times like these, the little thoughtful gestures do mean so much. And the community Julia began, and we've all built over so many years, will (I hope) always be there to support each other. Big hugs on a not so happy WOYWW week. Stay safe, all.

It was so lovely to catch up, and I found your post about Aberglasney - what a gorgeous place and wow, that a beautiful cherry arch - certainly one to put on the list of places to visit. Your Halloween fabric is fab, but the red blossom fabric just stole the show for me - it's stunning! You've done a fantastic job in nearly reaching the £11,000 mark - what a staggering sum, but hardly surprising with all you do.
Hope you have a great week,
Hugs Diana xx #14
I'm not surprised you sell so much the projects and the fabrics are lovely. It was quite a shock seeing the fire at Julia's it's heart breaking for them. I am so grateful to Julia, I certainly wouldn't still be blogging if it wasn't for the beautiful woyww friends that visit me each week. Wishing you a very happy and creative WOYWW. Hugs Angela x12x
Huge love to you Julia- having just lost my home and stuff just a year ago, I am still in the grieving part of loss, and the recovery part too, so please message me if you want to chat. I thank god no one was hurt, and hold you in my heart always, especially now.
I'm always inspired by your posts- I didnt know about the fire- please let me know how I can help from the states. Robyn 11
Thank you for sending the flowers to Julia, it was quite a shock when I read about it this morning. An awful time to go through.
You match up your fabrics so nicely, love the grey with the cherry blossom. Your collection of Christmas items is steadily growing, what a good job you don’t like Ferrero Rocher! Hugs Angela #13
Dear Jan!
What a lovely blog post again!
I love every picture....I'm shocked to read about Julia and Barry.
How can I donate them?
Congrats to nearly reaching the Pound 11.000 mark! "You're simply the best! Better than all the rest, better than anyone. Anyone I've ever met.....(Tina Turner)."

Thank you so much for organising the collection and goodies for Julia, Jan. I am glad it isn't me with Ferrero Rocher in that amount in the house, I love them! Hope you reach that £11k milestone soon. Just back from my flu jab. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah
I’m so glad you organised the collection for Julia and Bart, Jan. It was hard to know what we could do.
Your Janshed’s looking great, I love your Effalump and cherry blossom cotton. I’m sure you’ll sail past £11, 000 soon.
I wondered how you’ll package the Rochers. Would bags work?
Have a good week,
Hugs
