OOOOH, WHAT A WHOPPER....
(The Marrow Song - The Wurzels)
Hello lovely Deskers, how lovely to have your company on another Wednesday - linking up over at Sarah's where crafters from all over the world show what they're up to!
I haven't spent a huge amount in the JanCave, but I did have some fabric vouchers from G on our anniversary last Thursday (43 years...good grief... the man deserves a medal!!)
Everything got chucked in:
There's stuff ready for a craft fair on the bed, some stuff ready to be sewn by the window and my new stash on the desk - oooh, there are some beauties there...
Seaweed, shells and a homage to Vincent's starry skies...
And some Asian/African inspired patterns too. I'm all right for fabric just for now, that should keep me busy over winter. The cross body bags are going like hot cakes down at the tearooms so that's what I'll be concentrating on initially.
I've done enough C knitting and when I saw the local maternity unit needed more little hats I though that's what I'd do next. And it uses up smaller amounts of yarn too, win win!
I grabbed a couple of free patterns from Marianna's online and am making two sizes. The variegated yarns were the first to be used but that bright orange is next to make pumpkin hats (the hospital's request, I'm not going mad!)
After a couple of weeks being tied to the house cos of the vertigo, I've actually managed to get out a couple of times, hooray! Still not up to a ten mile march but it's a start....
We went to Aberglasney gardens as we'd not been there for ages and yesterday was the nicest weather wise amidst all the rain.
It's hard to credit this was a ruin in the 80s! The trust has worked so hard and there's a lot packed in. There were some awesome dahlias, penstemons and salvias in bronze, purples and deep reds - gorgeous.
And cyclamen in the woodland...
And hundreds of butterflies (or should that be pili pala as we're in Wales)
And indoor plants whose leaves grew in a star shape!
The reason for the lyric?
There were gourds hanging in the cherry tunnel! But it's hard to gauge the scale isn't it? So.....
Oooh, what a whopper!
Hope you have a marvellous week and enjoy whatever it is you get up to xxxxx

the gourds do grow long don't they, Kew's got several in their veg garden. Glad you are well enough to get out for some sun . Love the new pile of fabric, too, some very pretty offerings there. Happy WOYWW Helen #2
Gorgeous fabrics, of course the Van Gogh took my eye straight away. I am a fan of his, especially his early Potato Eaters work.
Oh the little hats are gorgeous, how satisfying and I look forward to seeing the pumpkins.
The gardens look lovely, glad you have managed to get out for some fresh air. Take it slowly.
Hugs, Neet 4 xx
Wow that is a jolly green giant! So glad you are feeling better and able to visit that lovely garden. It certainly lifts your spirits to wander through looking at the colours and the wildlife. That gorgeous fabric does the same for me too I might do a few cross body bags for the HJ charity fair. Just looked at the RNLI video - looks a bit wet in BP.x x Jo 🌈
All the fabric is stunning, and Happy Anniversary to you both. I love Marianna's patterns, they knit up so fast and look adorable. But my word that garden is stunning and it must have been a wonderful day out, with the weather cooperating. Lucky you :)
Happy (finally a knitting day!) WOYWW!

Sorry to hear you've had vertigo, very unsettling condition!! Loving the fabrics - esp starry night. I'm sure you will put it all to good use. Cant wait to see your little pumpkin hats, they are going to be really cute.
Gardens look lovely at Aberglasney and do I spy one of my favourite annuals Tithonia (Mexican Sunflower). I really regret not getting round to sowing mine this year, they are such a orgeous pop of late summer colour.
Hope you are fully recovered soon, Have a great week, love n hugs Cindyxx #11
Dear Jan and "G"!
Happy Anniversary (belated)! Stay happy another 43 years together again. What a wonderful blog post. Full of fabric, knitting, and a nice trip to Aberglasney gardens. The "star" tree is adorable and the gourds make me smile.
I wish you all the best!
Eva from Austria.
I’m glad you’re feeling better and it’s lovely to see you at Aberglasney gardens. I love your new starry night fabric and your preemie hats are cute.

Best laid plans and all, now our son's moving flats the day after my operation and will be coming to stay with us for the interim from 4th Oct, so it's all go here helping him arrange things....
Defo some beauties in the fabric department there and the baby hats are just gorgeous. Glad the vertigo has settled a bit, that's no fun at all, super gardens. Definitely Pili-Pala's always no matter where you are! And YES a Whopper!!! Hugs BJ#9
Ten mile march - good grief! I’ll settle for a walk round the garden. Lovely fabric and cute knitted hats. Love that photograph of the butterfly and the flower. Hugs Angela #10
So very glad to read that you've managed to get out a bit, even poorly you must have been a bit stir crazy. Aberglasny really looks fab, bet it was a right old tonic. I've caught up on your blog, Jan so much raised for the RNLI, you must feel really good about it. As always, I've had to pick my fave fabric, it's definitely the starry starry night...love and congrats on your anniversary too!
